Mark Buehrle Throws Perfect Game (Baseball)

I'm pretty sure there are not too many baseball fans on here, if any, but one of the most rare accomplishments in all of sports happened today. Mark Buhrle of the Chicago White Sox threw a perfect game!! Its a very incredible feat and only has happened 16 times in over a 100 years of history! Just wanted to share with the rest of the world.

Yeah not a baseball fan, but just watched the video. Fabulous work. However I think Dewayne Wise deserves a bit of that credit as well for the fantastic catch he made in the ninth, or else nobody would be talking about Buhrle The stadium crowd was on fire from that point onwards.

It truly could not have happened to a better guy! He said himself he never even thought of throwing a perfect game! He isn't a very flashy pitcher he just goes out there and gets the job done! I just wish I could have been there. I am lucky to have met him and he is a truly nice guy.

He did not allow any hits or walks...aka the other team never got on base once!

Mmm, as a comparison, kinda like the pitcher is the whole defensive line and the other team didn't manage to get a single shot on goal at all? (Even those off target ones)

Or maybe it's PK shootout, the pitcher is the GK and he catches all the shots? No idea really.

I guess it's like penalties where the keeper caught 27 shots in a row. But as vito said you can't compare

I like the comparison to stopping PK's! There are 9 innings in a baseball game. Each team gets gets 3 outs in an inning. After you make your 3rd out your inning is over. Therefore the minimum amount of batter a pitcher can face is 27 ( 9 innings x 3 outs) Buehrle faced only 27 batters yesterday plus no players on his team made a mistake which would have allowed a player to get on base without actually getting a hit. That's a pretty simple way to look at it. Any questions just ask

Ya but I think it is a bit harder for a keeper to save 27 straight PK's lol

Just a bit tougher! Haha. It's probably more like saving 5 pk's in a row. I just thought it was a clever comparison.

I saw him once outduel Doc Halladay live, he really looked great, to have two no-hitters in your career is great.

Good to see some baseball fans here!
