Not seen before. But it might have just been a bad patch on the pitch that had to be replaced. I don't think there is something more to it.

I though it was made in photoshop too, but i saw these pics everywhere on the ionternet that i thought it was really happened.
My guess is that there was something previously on that spot that ripped up the grass so it needed to be replaced. It could be a stage from a concert, etc.
I've seen it done in America with football fields that were just used for a baseball game.
