I'm Gavin from Scotland, and I've been an Interista since about 1993. I first started watching calcio when Channel 4 in the UK began showing it. I still had good memories of Italia '90 at that time, and my favourite players of that tournament were Schillaci and a few of the Germans - so I naturally adopted Inter as my team. The beautiful kit helped me choose too, there's not another compares to it. That was around 17 years ago and my support hasn't waivered since, despite the long dark times.
During those sad times I admired the way some players stood out from the crowd, playing for the jersey despite the team maybe lacking quality compared to others - Bergomi, Berti, a young Zanetti, Ganz and one or two others standing out. Nowadays a few can still claim to be black and blue through and through - Samuel, Matrix and Cambiasso continue the line.
I've visited Italy a number of times - Rome, Florence, Pisa, Lucca - but only been to Milan once. There wasn't a match getting played, but I toured the stadium and museum. It was fantastic, in the museum, to see the training top worn by Big HH in the 60's, and some other memorabilia from that time. I sat in the managers chair (mancini at the time) in his office next to the changing room and also Gattusos seat in their changing room. I chose his just because he played for my '2nd' team Rangers, here in Scotland.
That'll do for now - I just wanted to tell a little of my relationship with the Nerazzurri over the years until now. I hope you're all in good spirits after last nights fantastic match.
Forza Inter, Gav.
