Ehsan has explained everything perfectly. Suneet has further described our policy. They have my full backing.

    ==================================================

"XXX, you should have just reported YYY's post and moved on instead of holding a personal vendetta. YYY you should have ignored XXX's insults and moved on instead of swearing back at him."

I want to add some more. Alessandro (Sorry for revealing your name) was once given an infraction, I think it was for retaliating from an insult. He PM-ed me asking for an explanation about it. I replied that regardless of how much I think he's a great member, rules are rules and we can't break them for nobody. He accepted the explanation.

In the near future, he was again the subject of further insults, but instead of retaliating right back, he reported it back to us, and of course we took the proper actions.

That's how you're supposed to react, whether you're in a forum, or at work. Why bother retaliating when you know that it will serve no purpose and may get you in trouble? To show that you're more manly? That you have balls? Why not show that you have CLASS for once by not falling into personal insults and all?

If you wanna show that you're an alpha male or have bigger balls than the others, do it in real life like Alessandro did. (Look at his avatar)

Yes, talk to us if you really dont want to report. Besnik did it once in the past and he is a huge special part of this forum.

I hope everyone is with us on this.

I'm sorry for my insulting words to Nyall, but trust me that I'm not a guy who likes to fight with others, or have a conflict.. Honestly it was Nyall, the one who started the insulting words. But also the emotions of the derby that night, caused me to use bad words, and it was hard moment to control myself.

    Excuse me.

With all due respect, as horrible & excruciating a non-intentional violation of the rules might be, I think you gotta take it a little easy with the "sentences" you give to newcomers like myself. As you may notice from the information displayed under my avatar, I've been a contributing member since mid September & for 2 absolutely non-intentional violations I've been given a "1/1 (3)", with the meaning of the "1/1" part not being clear to me.

Now the thing is the 2nd violation I received last night, due to "Revealed Results in Match Thread" will expire on 02 Mar 11.

My point is, I'm currently a practicing lawyer here in Germany & I deal with busted pimps, hijackers, wife beaters, thugs, drug dealers & all kinds of con men on a daily basis. I've seen clients getting less than a month for stealing from a joint, whereas my Infraction for violating a forum rule is going to expire in 4 months?

I can assure you that not only in my case, but in fact all the members are capable of processing their error & ultimately make sure it is in their own interest not to do it again, in a period of time less than that.

I'm glad nobody here is an appointed judge in the supreme court, cuz then nobody knew how many citizens you would lock up daily because they crossed the street while the light was red.

    1\1 refers to infractions\warnings.

On to the point everyone agrees to the rules when signing up. It is your responsibility as a member of this forum to know them and adhere to the rules. Imho we shouldn't be changing our rules just because one or two don't adhere to them. Of our new members very few made these mistakes.

The comprison with locking up is wrong, this is more like a speeding ticket\citation.

I don't recall saying anything about the rules being changed. I'm saying 4 months seems a lot to me to process a certain violation. I have that infraction status for a period of four months in front of my eyes every time I log in. A person of let's say average intelligence will understand he/she shouldn't do it again the moment a warning has been issued.

Given your reaction, I think the irony in my sentence isn't as clear as I thought it might be. Let me put it in a different way: If you're putting a guy on "parole" for a period of four months because he violated a forum rule, chances are you would lock up people for crossing the street while the light is red, if you hold a high office in the judicial system.

In other words... You're too strict! Why do I get four months for this?

You get 4 months because we want to be strict on that rule. When the rule was less strict we had trouble with people disobeying it. Since we upped the points and the time limit we have had less problems.

This is like the worst rule in forums history...

Before the mods tie my hands down, please explain why this rule was created.

Now, this is my side of the story.

We are playing in the Serie A. People are watching the Inter game probably and are also posting once in a while during the game. They do not watch anything else.
On the other side of the globe, there's someone else with no access to the Inter game and wants to stay on the topic to check how the game is going, and meanwhile he's watching a random game. An amazing goal is scored, or anything worth mentioning to anyone on any random situation happens, why is that "illegal" to share while everyone else will probably never get the chance to see it if that one guy does not mention it?
I happen to find these "illegal" posts the most interesting in the game topics. Why? Because a) I usually don't care about people saying 'oh that was close', 'player x you suck', 'how did he missed that', 'how is that not a foul/corner/penalty', when I'm actually watching the game. b) when I can't get a stream to the Inter games maybe there's an exciting game going on elsewhere with like 4 goals in the first 7 minutes and someone mentions that. Yeah sure, this is an Inter forum bla bla, but what's the problem with that?

I got an infraction in the Inter-Siena game which I think was in January or February, saying that it was the biggest comeback of the year along Algeria-Libya game where I said what happened (4-4 or something from 4-0 down...)
How's that a problem to the thread???
I'm pretty sure nobody would even care about Libya or Algeria, and some don't even know they even play football!

It is also insane when during our game, there's our CL opponent's game as well. Is it so terrible to the users of this forum to actually get informative posts of how our opponent is doing? I figure no one in the Inter game thread will actually see the opponent's game...

I agree to some extent, it could get out of hand with people commenting on all possible scores in Inter threads, but you are taking it way out of proportion here. I never complained about that infraction and I don't even care about it, but it's probably the most laughable thing I've ever seen in forums getting "punished".
It will not lead to duplicate discussions in Inter and Serie A thread. It will just inform Inter fans of something that happened that 75% of them wouldn't have even see and at least half of them would actually be interested in it. Then they'd go to the Serie A forum.

Promoting discussion of other games in Inter game thread, yes, that should deserve an infraction. But just saying that Barcelona beat Almeria 8-0 away (at least 5 people would see this and not even know about it or that Tottenham beat Arsenal after 17 years in the Premier League (yet another 10 people now...), that's just laughable. Or saying that Zlatan scored a nice bicycle kick

I'd ask if there could be a poll in GAMES & TACTICS FORUM, but I know that's not gonna happen.

So really, what's the real reason for this rule? We all know that "duplicate discussions" is not one of them. And I don't think there's hardly more than 20 members that care about other games being MENTIONED in Inter games topics...

Yuko, the real reason is the spoiler.

A good portion of members in this forum likes to download full matches of other Serie A matches, or CL, or any other league for that matter, and watch them delayed. For example, if the Milan Derby is played at the same time as Barca - Real, that would be what most people would do, won't it? And if you're browsing our match thread to keep up with OUR match, and someone spoiled it to you about events happening at the other match you were gonna watch, I'm sure you'd go bonkers.

And yes, the other reason is the duplicate discussion. If someone mention something like this in our match thread, I am 100% sure it would lead to a long, off-topic discussion for that thread.

A: "Ibra just scored for Milan. He's so much better than Eto'o."
B: "wtf how can u say that Eto'o is much better!"
    C: "Yea Ibra 0 CL, Eto'o 3 CL"
    A: "lol u nubs Ibra 5 Scudetto, Eto'o 1 Scudetto"

And so on and on and on.

No, not really. Inter fans would just stick with the result and highlights. If they cared so much about the other games they'd be having links for both games or watch both games in television by zapping. What you are describing is "sofa" fans. If we want to accomodate "sofa" fans' needs then be it. We can change the forum's name as well while at it.

I see what you mean by "spoiler", but so what? It's not as bad as insulting anyone else.

As for the A, B, C example. So instead of deleting a few posts every now and then, you prefer to use infractions for something as random as stating that someone scored or got headbutted elsewhere?

And as you said, a "good portion" of members likes to download games etc. That's the smaller portion though and we all know it. We want to please the "good portion" by not saying to them what happens at the moment, yet the larger portion will probably never find out that Messi scored 6 goals in a game (hypothetical) and 3 of them were Maradon-esque, worthy of best goal ever, is that how it goes?

And we are not saying that there should be an international live football update post during Inter games. We are talking about games that happen simultaneously that also involve Inter's season. So if Arsenal loses their CL game and could possibly not go through in the next round, it's something that's worth stating in an Inter thread. Or if Milan is losing 2-1 and concedes another one in their Serie A game while we are winning 3-0, then that's worth mentioning as well.

Just imagine how someone new on FI would feel if he got the infraction I got. And we are talking about the average "new member" who usually does not speak the best of English, doesn't know what infraction means but it sounds bad. I got a freaking infraction for comparing Inter's game at the time with another game that ended 4-5 days ago which was an African Cup of Nations game!!! How is that even infraction worthy? Wouldn't that "scare off" a new members that thinks he got victimised? Does that even sound like a normal rule?

I am a member on two Panathinaikos forums, one of them is three times the size of this one, and everyone is so darn happy to discuss about the ongoing rival games on the game threads BECAUSE THAT'S HOW FANS BEHAVE! If you wanna be non-fans and treat 'sofa' fans with more respect than the passionate and impulsive Inter fans, you are free to do so. But myself and everyone else who shares this opinion has the right to disagree. I'm not saying you should abolish the forum rule just because I said so. I'm just saying why it is wrong and allow me to use the word un-Inter. Because a true Inter fan would not want to be tortured around 2-3 different topics on the other side of the forums just to see if Roma, Lazio or anyone else has beaten the juve scumbags if Inter is playing.

And I'll say it again, create a poll on Games & Tactics forum. Question would be something like 'do you agree with the rule about not revealing information about other matches in Inter's match thread' in a better syntax That should give us the real idea of who the "good portion" are.
Of course there are those who want the Inter threads to be clear from other team's mentioned for no reason, but imagine our next CL game Tottenham is losing like 4-0, wouldn't you want someone to say that? You honestly believe out of all the members that are on the game threads, even a quarter of them does not wanna know about what's going on on other games?

Its the same as insulting someone hence it carries less infraction points.

Some rules are intended to protect the minority and this is such a rulle.

I see no reason why you can't use the general threads for this, that's just being lazy imho.

Of there are other games that effect inter directly we suspend rule for that round like we did for the last serie a round last season. We are flexible to a point.

Concerning new members they get in trouble because they don't read the rules, 99% accept their infraction once you explain it.
But I am totally against changing this rule.

What? How does that make them a sofa fan, with two games open at the same time it's nearly impossible to get into both games. You end up glancing between screens and , at least I, find it hard to stay interested if 2 are on. What's wrong with watchong your preffered match, then after it stick on a recording of another game you'd love to see?

When one of the games is Inter-Milan (our biggest or 2nd biggest game in the year) and people here are also interested for any other game, then they are not what we'd call hardcore Inter fans.

I myself have a lot of recorded matches. I never watch recorded games that I don't know what happened. I prefer to stick to finding out the result, and if it's worthy, I also watch the highlights. Some people do not have much free time to record and watch 2-3 games in a row.

Stefan, you are calling "the last matchday of Serie A" being flexible for this rule? Please, if the rule wasn't flexible specially on that matchday, it would not be just a bad rule, it would be illogical and insane.

The rule should exclude INTERNATIONAL GAMES, SERIE A GAMES & CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GAMES OF OUR GROUP. As I know how it feels to have a soft spot for a few teams, I understand that some people record games whatsover. But not talking about the ongoing Serie A games in a game about an Inter Serie A game that is ALWAYS directly proportional to Inter, then I don't know how to describe this rule.

And this does not imply that people would discuss the other games on Inter threads. Just STATE SOME FACTS. eg Totti just scored. Or Gattuso got sent off after only 15 minutes of play. People WANT TO KNOW THAT STUFF.

By admittedly having a rule for the minority ( ) you are making this place worse. No comments for Man Utd or Arsenal games, I can understand that. Or no comments for Barcelona or Sevilla games.

You are telling me that you are trying to "protect" the odd 1 or 2 people on FI that download and watch all Serie A games without knowing what's happened? You realise how absurd that sounds?

What's wrong with anyone saying "Fiorentina just scored an identical goal to ours" for example? What's wrong to say that Chievo just scored after a goalkeeper's drop kick?

And please, just check how many people post or read the Serie A thread compared to those that talk just about the Inter games. You have the panel on the admins tools screen or maybe even the mods have that panel available. With the limited stats given to all members, it's pretty obvious that just one or two Inter games has more posters and more viewers than the whole Serie A thread. Most of these other guys do not check the Serie A thread because there's nothing in it. People are not posting that much in the Serie A thread becuase they are too busy talking about Inter in the game thread. And they are not allowed to talk about other matches in Inter game threads, so discussion over before it's even started

I can see why you guys don't want people to ruin games such as Real-Barca, but I don't get why you don't want people to share our group opponents games. I don't think anyone would actually download the Werder-Tottenham game for example. And another thing that annoys me is that we can't talk about other games when the result of that game has been shown on the GM scoreboard.

Oh well, I don't really care that much tbh. I'll just avoid doing it. But if you guys still feel that you should stick to these rules, could you at least bring the spoiler thing back??
