well, the content of the brackets generally justifies the use of them.

    If I did this:

    then yes, no point

    if I did this

    hello snake (been a while)

    that adds extra info

I added in the brackets to point out, well, he's the only Inter player called up to the U-20 squad. which is surprising. He's played less than most of our other good U-20 players last season, and yet he makes the cut ahead of (for example) Pasa... Garritano... Tassi etc

Di Gennaro now has 6 clean sheets in 15 games for Cittadella - Handanovic (as a comparison) has 7 in 12 for us. He's been one of the main reasons why Cittadella are where they are in the table. I think he has a good chance for Serie B keeper of the year.

What do you think about Di Gennaro vs. Bardi? Obviously Bardi is further along his development path, but how do they compare?

I was just wondering the same thing. I think it's quite obvious they're going to be great goalkeepers when they're older but sadly one's gotta go when it's time to bring one of them as Handanovic's replacement.

Bardi vs Di Gennaro is a very interesting discussion, especially because both players exhibit tremendous promise for the future No.1 shirt at Inter.

Imho a general scouting analysis of a goalkeeper should focus on goalkeeping technique, physique, leadership, and on the ball skills.

On goalkeeping technique, Bardi possesses exceptional reflexes. Di Gennaro likewise has VERY strong shot stopping capabilities, but his catching and ball handling technique is very poor (although I have seen an improvement with Cittadella). One of Bardi's best attributes is his mobility in the box, and a strong sense of anticipation. His jumping ability is also VERY strong, and imo overall he's a superior goalkeeper technically speaking.

However, Di Gennaro is much better than Bardi in coming out for crosses, and his conceded goal against Inter is a testament to the necessity of improvement in this area. However, it should also be noted that Bardi makes much more of an effort at holding on to the ball, rather than just pushing it away, which is a VERY important attribute.

Di Gennaro is also quite effective at employing at his legs and feet in the shot stopping process. It's clear that both players are fairly raw atm (although Di Gennaro is much more undeveloped than Bardi).

Moreover, while Bardi is taller than Di Gennaro, the latter utilizes his physique much more than the former in his style of play. Both keepers also possess strong balance.

Di Gennaro seems like more of a leader on the pitch than Bardi, and it's especially reflecting on the latter's poor communication skills (which glared in Livorno's defeat against Hellas Verona). From what I've seen of Bardi in Serie A, he needs to develop the ability to organize his defence.

Generally speaking I'd say that Bardi is more promising than Di Gennaro, but I wouldn't end the discussion there, especially when I see Di Gennaro beating Leali to the 2013/14 Serie B GK of the year award (if he keeps up his great performances with Cittadella).

Improvement in the last category is necessary for both prospects. Both are generally poor at goal kicks, although Bardi seems to be stronger in this area. Di Gennaro generally lacks composure on the ball, although I've seen some improvement in his spot kicking accuracy at a Serie B level (compared to what I've seen of him with the Primavera).

In terms of positional awareness Di Gennaro is superior to Bardi

Di Gennaro is also very effective at making himself "big"; in providing a large target for attackers (especially in 1v1 scenarios). He also has very good "judgment" in timing challenges and when to come off the line.

I see a lot of Van der Sar in Di Gennaro, and more of someone like Zoff or Marchetti in Bardi tbh

I like them both to be honest. Clearly Bardi is 2+ years ahead of Di Gennaro, but for Di Gennaro to be doing so well already in his first season on loan deserves some serious credit. I still think Bardi is the most likely to succeed, but Di Gennaro - for someone with no hype or reputation - to already be doing so well in Serie B deserves huge credit. Remember also that Spezia are a much better team than Cittadella - only 6 points off the top of the table, in 7th place. Leali has 3 clean sheets in 13 games, Di Gennaro has 6 in 15 - with a much worse defense.

Some Highlights for him with Cittadella, apparently for the first part of the season since the video was posted in October 2013

Obviously just a highlights reel, but he seems to have good reflexes and athleticism and isn't afraid to come off his line. Is there a video of his goals conceded?

does anybody have information on his performances (like rating, etc.)???

he was dropped for some time, but regained the spot now, and he seems a beast statstically. 5 clean sheets in 8 games and 3 goals conceded in a relegation spot team...

Yeah I keep an eye on his reviews and he's done well.just look at their record before playing him and since. A lot of potential here.

Di Gennaro had a very good season with Latina. There was speculation that he would get a loan spell as a starter at a small Serie A club this year, but he insisted to stay on loan at Latina for another season, they have an option to buy and we have a buy-back clause (don't know the numbers)
