1,5m for a player who collected 2/3 of his playing time this season in one game against Rapid and one against Benevento? Pretty expensive mascot.

Great affection for the guy but what a "could have been" case Ranocchia is. I don't think anyone has had more chances to shine and given so many chances again and again consistently for us after after the treble. If only.

I think I've seen Dumbro wearing the armband after Samir left the pitch. Felt disappointed it wasn't Skriniar

He never plays, earns 1,5m a year and Inter is the only chance for him to win a trophy.

I have to admit that I wanted to renew him in the end - but for half of what he earns now.

2-3 free seasons .... of watching all games from the best seat in the house would be fair.... 750k a year is unfair for what he offers the team.... didn't he play more as a #9 last season then a CB?

The only reason he remains at the club is because Spalletti praised him for his behind the scenes leadership in the locker room. Personally, I think it is a complete load of bullshit that he is still at the club. Offering a contract extension and paying a footballer to be influential behind the scenes whilst conveniently ignoring the fact that he is shit when he plays is something that would only happen at Inter. At any other club, he would he would have been shown the door a long time ago and would be off playing for Lucchese in Serie C. The Ranocchia Myth is another legacy of our former coach.

We use the same excuse for players who are past it and we can’t get rid of anyway, no news really.

To be fair, Ranocchia has been pretty decent every time he was needed lately. We need a lot of centre backs and have to focus our budget elsewhere, so it makes sense to extend his contract (on lower wages?). Its like a free transfer for a back up player.

I can't believe I didn't even feel worried that he was in the starting line-up. What a turn around.

In this 3 man defence there is always a man behind to cover for each others ass.
They complemented each other really well with D'ambro and Skriniar.

That's it...move him to Grande Inter. If anything, for his ability to stick around.
