    Dog

    DOG@!!@..

Basically I am interesting in purchasing a pet dog and would like to hear about different breeds of dogs as I'm sure many of you own dogs.

Years ago I had a labrador retriever which unfortunately died when I was a small kid, then in my junior-high school years, a family friend moved overseas and left us these 2 little things, a black/grey/white Maltese x Shih Tzu and a white Maltese x something. My parents have another yellow labrador retriever now.

I wouldn't mind purchasing a breed of dog I've already kept in the past, but at the same time, I do kind of want a new breed.

I dislike little show dog things like yorkshire terriers, poodles etc
I don't want a bulldog, and I don't really have a lot of time to spend walking a dog so a very big, active dog is out of the question too.

I live in a house with a good sized backyard, so I'm not restricted as I would be if I lived in an apartment etc.

Any recommendations, opinions or pictures would be appreciated.

I've never really been into cats. Never owned one, don't know anything about them. I couldn't even name a single breed of cat.

I just don't feel that cats have the same affection or loyalty for their owners that dogs do.

Cairn Terrier. Perky, affable and kilt dog. Very healthy breed in general. When I lived with my parents we had a Cairn Terrier like in that picture. Fantastic animal.

For me the most beautifull dogs in the world are Dobermans

But since you dont want a very active dog you should go to a local dog shelter and pick something that you like. This dog will be the best friend for you

I thought this was a thread about Galliani

But anyway I have a German Shepherd by far the best dog I've ever owned, I've had Siberian Huskies, Yorkshire Terriers, Sharpeis, Poodles, Chiuauas (the poodles and chiuauas were not my idea I hate them so annoying) and a dalmation. The German Shepherd is by far the smartest dog and most loyal, he's one hell of a companion and I recomment him to anyone.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. William, I do indeed like Border Collies, and I have a few friends who have them but I've heard they need an active lifestyle which at this point in time, I cannot provide them.

Dobermans are pretty fucken scary but as you said, are pretty active.

Do German Shepherds need much walking Toninu?

    How about

    or

The first is expensive to maintain and doesn't love you much. But it has great tricks and will entertain you. The second is cheap, and does a lot of work for you. But you won't like to shower affection on it since he is a dirty animal.

    lol

I just wanted to ask what you guys fed your dogs and how often.

I've fed all my dogs 2 meals a day, one in the morning, one around 7pm. For the morning meal I give them dried dog food, whereas for dinner I mix their dried food with canned shit.

My friend only feeds his dog once a day at dinner time, giving it all the left over shit from his family. Pieces of bread, meat, eggs, rice, etc. Basically scraps of his family's food whereas I barely ever give my dog 'human' food, and 90% of the time only feed her dog food.

    What you guys reckon.

Personally my favorite breed is the golden retriever. Fantastic dogs. Also had jack russels and also a rough collie.

Retriever is great companion dogs. Only thing is it is a rather big dog so needs more food then smaller dogs so can be expensive.

As for feeding them. We usually give them dog food in the mornings and evenings. They also get their dog biscuits and some table scraps. Our one retriever always eats his dog food but the other one is picking and sometimes choose to wait untill she gets some of the leftover sauce on the food.

Yeah they do need some exercise because they have a lot of energy but instead of walking him sometimes I play catch with him. But the most important thing with that kind of pet is to show him that you're above him because those dogs have a pack mentality you need to assert yourself as pack leader. But it's easy to house train them, my dog immediately learnt where he should relieve himself. But for the German Shepherd you also need a lot of space because he isn't a small dog.
