When Martins was on Wolfsburg the teams two starting Strikers were the two top bundisliga goal scorers DZEKO AND GRAFITE. go look at bundisliga stats.

They didnt get relegated the team did, just like when tevez was a top prospect he managed a few goals on west ham a few of which were free kicks and few were in games they lost and they managed to keep from being relegated by 3 points.

Obinna is a good prospect not a top world class one like Tevez or Dzeko was.
And again, your only example is Dzeko. I know he only scored 2 goals in the EPL, but he scored 6 in all competitions with 21 appearances. That is 1 goal shy of 33%. I also introduced the fact that he had to play with Tevez and Balotelli. That is three players for one position.

Martins isn't even a starter for Rubin Kazan. Lebedenko, Medvedev, and Karadeniz are higher in the pecking order at Rubin. Martins and Obinna are playing for bad teams because they are not good enough for top clubs. You yourself say Obinna is a "good prospect." This is Internazionale not Catania. Inter doesn't need good prospects, they need top prospects. Signing the Obinna's of the world does nothing to further the competitiveness of a top club.

I'm going to give you one example and then leave this alone. Peter Odemwingie transfered to West Brom, a team of similar caliber to Newcastle and West Ham. In his first season he made 32 apps with 15 goals and 7 assists. Martins made 33 with 11 goals and 4 assists and Obinna 25 apps with a whopping 3 goals and 3 assists.

You have to take the team itself into account and many factors. But it just goes to show you that players like Ibrabitch or Dzeko, Shevshanko, and many others in the past couldnt all adapt to diff styles of play. Sometimes these players are surrounded by all the talent in the world and still can't produce. Tevez is mentioned as such a great West ham player because he scored a free kick that kept them 3 points from relegation. he didnt prodcue shit there, and it took him an entire season to do anything. Some of his limited goals were in losing games and again had it not been for his freekicking skills he would have produced less.

The whole point is many teams have stopped giving oppurtunities to there own talents and thats why there putting in FFP, Clubs around europe have stopped developing players and accumulated massive debt or aren't making any money with owners covering costs. You say we dont need good prospects but we do, especially when you put factors like Kharja, Pandev, an injury prone Suazo taking up space on our bench who are worthless. Obinna was a great prospect and helped lead nigeria to the 2008 olympic final only to lose to Argentina and have to take the silver medal.

With real oppurtunities he could of been great, or even impressed to the point that we could have sold him like many other teams do with good prospects. But sending prospects off to shit teams and hoping they produce is a longshot. Many players have their careers destroyed like this. They have the talent but they lose the spotlight and its over.

Spots on the bench for Veterans are fine, spots for Bums aren't, A young prospect good or great might surprise you when given a chance, but we havn't given any youth a chance in a long time, we may let them play a game together without all the other stars, or even 5 minutes at the end of the match.

Meanwhile Kharja, Motta, they suck and they get playing time, they never did anything there whole careers and our team of superstars make them look good to the untrained eye but they suck. We need to take chances on young prospects.

Players switch leagues, thats why they arent at their best? How would you explain Torres then? Ozil on the other end of the scale?

Anyways, THIS ISNT THE TOPIC TO DISCUSS ALL OF THAT. I dont think Branca has even in his wildest dreams thought of brining Oba back. Pace is not everything otherwise we would have been relegated. Our team is one of the slowest in the world and the slow tempo is actually our strength if utilised properly. Also if any of you want Obinna, Martins, Gresko, Choutos or Baggio at Inter next season, please discuss that in the YOUR ideal lineup thread.

Lets be realistic and debate the moves that the club and management want to make and how their strategy looks like with each day of the summer, thats why this thread was created wasnt it?

So this debate of keeping youngsters in bench instead of veterans still continues ... pffffffff. Btw this assasin guy really likes debating doesn't he...
Anyway staying on topic of the thread. Regarding the moves of Branca & co (or at least the roumors of their moves) there is smth that worries me . I hear moratti saying (in the end is he who decides) that we are looking to buy talented youngsters this year and then i hear the casemiro name who fullfills this politic but have the club and leo agreed on this politic.
One thing is having guardiola , rafa , fergi etc who believe in youngsters and give them a chance and one thing is having mou or leo who don't.
Look at this season we had obi and cou as very talented youngsters who could be great back ups for the veterans and what leo did was even changing the tactic to 442 with pandev as LM instead of keeping his 4312/4231 and play with cou as Am . And at the end of season what leo said about cou was that this was a very difficult season to give him a try and the board sais (or at least what we can understand) that they are going to loan out obi and cou to give them playing time .
So what's the sense of buying casemiro or whoever talented youngster (castaignos , alborno etc)and reapet the same scenario in the end of the season to come.

So when are we actually going to sign someone...on 31th of August!!?...IF Branca doesn't announce that keeping Kharja is the "colpo dell mercato"

Nah...seriously we shouldn't wait to long like we usually do, because there might be no on decent to grab by then.

Clubs can't present new transfers wthat involving transfer fee outside the transfer window. However, although Inter have been quite I believe they have someone on the table or probably have signed someone.

Fuck FFP...like it only affects us...Young talent yes pleas, giving the likes of Kharja and such a contract no thank you.

Keep the core of the squad, get a CM or two, buy Sanchez and a faking LB.
But even then we will be trembling for the Scudetto with Leo...

Thats ok going for youngsters is a nice strategy but make sure you actually have a coach thats gonna play them and has a history of being able to translate the youth prospects into useful players not one thats constantly plays average players over them when there is nothing to lose.

Your welcome Nyall, Im very excited as i have been disappointed that we have taken so few chances on developing our youth in recent years and instead are giving playing time to bums like Motta or Kharja, With FFP about to take affect we will all be looking to our academies once again and This new Champions league for youth will deff provide a more competitive enviorment and help us gauge talent. From what i've heard it is up 16 teams but more may join before the tournament begins this August.

First of all : Sell Maicon, Pandev, Mariga, Muntari and get rid of Kharja.
    Second : Let Real offer 20 m for Maicon + Diarra/Gago ; Sell pandev for 12 million, Muntari for 5 ...
Third. : Buy Sanchez for 20 + Mariga,Santon and loan Coutinho ; Buy Banega for 8-12m ; Maka Naga deal official. Get Criscito for 10
Fourth : Invest in some quality youth/world class : Lamela/Lucas/Tevez if there's still money.

    --------------------Pazzini----------------------
    Eto'o-------------Sneijder------------Sanchez
    --------Banega------------Cambiasso
    Criscrito----Lucio-------Samuel------Zanetti
    --------------------Julio-----------------------
