    Porto - Inter

Right, we need a topic for this game in this forum, otherwise people are going to get confused.

The clock is ticking, only Udinese to go, and then we're off to Portugal!

This is the 2nd of a very hard triplet of games (Udinese, Porto, Milan) and I will be extremely intent to follow the game as I will be at the San Siro for the 2nd leg!

The most important thing is to get 1 (or 2) away goals to take home.

I can't wait for this series of games, espcially since I have 2 very good friends of mine who are Porto fans, and the best thing is that according to them Maniche has said no to some other club and that he wants to join us, publically.

Just imagine our midfield if we have both Maniche AND Cambiasso

    1. It's always good to "educate" the new members. Some of them might not read the rules carefully, and that "scores inside" tag can help them understand what to do.

The fact that we are heavy favorites, and that everyone outside of Porto fans seem to be picking us, worries me. How many times has Inter let us down past the years? Even with Porto being revamped, they're still a good team and one of the few to beat Chelsea.... even if it was meaningless for the Blues.

On the other hand, I can't help but feel confident too (contradicting myself obviously) but Mancini has brought a new and exciting atmosphere with him. We have yet to taste defeat and I can't think a game this season where the other team has completely outplayed us.

It's gonna be a rough next week if things don't go exactly right.

3 Wins and I'll probably die of joy.
2 Wins and I'd be satisfied.
1 Win and I'd be depressed.
0 Wins and I'd probably have to see a shrink.

we should win this game.. and we have enough players to win it....

concentration for our players is a must and certainly hard since we have four hard games in a row...

but if we maintain our concentration and sanity for this game, then we can win it...

either veron or stanki should appear in any game, they made the difference in our games...

recoba was looking good on atalanta game, he made many good passes... he may be able to do what veron could do.. he would be very useful for us in achieving the treble..

FC Porto are not likely to be the team that stop Inter this season if indeed they are stopped at all.

Inter are now playing as a team and any further improvements to the form they have already displayed in this years competition could see them go all the way

I have imense faith in this team. We have started to build a secuence of wins and we should continue it. I hope Adriano gets back to his old self, then we are almost certainly set.

The only team that can stop us is ourselves. We can definately win the CL, all the team has to do is play well, and the likes of Adriano, Stankovic, and Davids step the hell up to the plate and hit grand slams like theres no tomorrow.

If not then were boned and doomed to failure...

I really dont trust the Vieri-Adriano duo anymore ...they looked good one or two games but it always seems as if they are playing as lone strikers.

We should definately use players upfront that compliment each other...

Well Oba is training again so i expect him back for this game on the bench and for a possible start against Bbilan.

I am still dissapointed for our draw yesterday but we should concentrate now on our most imporant objective of the season wich is the champions league.

Couple of days back i saw a half hour preview of Porto-Inter on eurosport and i remember that there striker McCarthy saying Italian teams are difficult cause after taking the lead they defend defend and defend. Thank you Gobbi for ur great showing, cause of them people still think Serie A is all concentrated on defence wich is ofcourse Bullsh*t.

So that now has even more motivated me for a Inter win, so we can show those Porto guys that we Inter are a entertaining team and show them what our football all is about.

    Possible danger Porto Stars

-McCarthy, has scored some real important goals for his team notably against chelsea and lokomotiv.
-Diego, for the 2nd leg cause he is suspended for the 1st
-Quaresma, skillful player I remember we wanted him before he moved to Barca
    -Maniche, we all know him
-Baia, the keeper what a character
    -Costinha
-Nuno Valente, If im right he is injured but im not sure
Hernán Crespo, Internazionale, after UEFA Champions League game, replying on a question about Ibrahimovic(Sept 26, 2002):

"He is one of the best forwards I have met this year. In my opinion he can become one of the world's greatest players. He already has enormous qualities."

Is their old defender (forgot his name) still there? He is good against big strikers like Vieri but he has no pace. Martins will be a handful to him.

Their keeper is weird. He is good sometimes but at times he simply stinks, he lets on easy goals. Now that Carvalho isn't there, he must be more prone to give up easy goals. We should try outside shots because he seems to be bothered by it sometimes.

The worrying thing about Quaresma is that he can play in either flank. If he plays LW, then there is no problem. The danger is if he plays his usual RW, Favalli has to have a big game to stop him.

Porto is packed with speed and it will be critical for our defenders and midfielders to slow the pace of the game down to our liking.

Cordoba will have to have a big game against Porto's speedy front line, what I worry about is if Miha starts this match (or is his ban still in effect?)
If he can't then I'd go for Burdisso whose faster then any of our other CBs.

BTW I'd also really like to see Adriano and Martins partner upfront. I don't see how Vieri will be really effective in this match, having speed on our side would be better then his strength and power in the air.
