Nah no more loans. Poor kid. We can't keep toying with him at such a young age.

Either we integrate him into the starting XI or we sell him.

Might as well take the former. The man can be a machine, but theres no room for his joga bonito in this squad, especially with Strama on hand. He needs to play him, hes not worth much (5m at most), so they won't make any money to buy a replacement (unless branca picks up an U-19 first teamer for pennies)
Would he fit in with AVB on hand?? Maybe. Benitez?? Maybe. Mou?? Hell yea. But not Strama.

Selling Coutinho is out of the question. What we need to do is be patient. His time will come soon, but right now we have a system and his role in that system is currently most beneficial later on in the game when he can use his pace to our advantage.

Injuries will sooner or later give him starts soon regardless and he'll show why he's here.

I really don't think you're giving Strama credit at all. No manager in the last decade has given our youngsters more opportunities as he has. We just cannot expect him to play every single player we want every game, especially when you have better more experienced players. Coutinho is just not good enough to be a starter on this team yet, so why force him, for forcing sake?

P.S. He would definitely not be a starter under Mourinho.

I do chuckle when it comes to coutinho. Seems like I posted this before in this same very thread, but whatever.

(1) My post was directed to someone taking a shot at Juan. Let me ask this; do you remember Juan's first start for strama? Against torino, in turin, after the loss to roma? First time playing 3 in the back. Do you remember Juan's performance? HE WAS A FUCKIN BOSS UNQUESTIONABLY. His reward for that performance was another start. And what did he do? PERFORM LIKE A FUCKIN BOSS AGAIN. And you get the point. Consistent, very effective, minimal mistakes, non-liability/can count on Juan/don't need to worry about Juan. He got an opportunity and he took it.

(2) Coutinho? He got a some sub minutes and he got to start games. He started in 2nd leg Hadjuk, started v Viola and v Milan and v Palermo. What did Cou do? DICK SQUAT but play fifa street. He's been that way since coming here in 2010.

(3) Most importantly, you guys do realize that there's something called TRAINING? That maybe he's not making a good impression on the coach in training?

Imo, coutinho is very ineffective and more importantly, very inconsistent. Dribbles too much and passes too little. He is like a turnover machine. My nickname for him is "almost", since he's that type of player....ohhh that was ALMOST a goal or ALMOST a sweet play.

hi N4l, long time no chat:)
I agreed with your point about phillipe, but I strongly disagree if u said coutinho has been playing like this since his arrived in 2010, actually there was a quite big gap between the old coutinho and the nowadays coutinho, the old coutinho is always looking for a pass, always looking for a teammate way more often then coutinho now, but back then I always felt that he needed to step out from his comfort zone, he need to try penetrate more often, but now he is just :yao:, way too selfish, if u disagree with my opinion, please look at the footage back in 2010 or during benitez's regime, the truth is he was impressive until he suffered from hamsring injury (unfortunate really), that's why I often thought that if only he can combine the intelligent or clever play that he has in 2010 and the penetration plus determination he has now, he will be awesome, a good player, I'm quite confidence about that.

cassano, palacio and milito can't stay healthy all season long, injury just around the corner, and I'm against loaning him out again, not only it will affect our depth in attacking department, it probably also affect coutinho's confidence, at least don't loan him now. its a fragile period for cou now, we've been giving all the support that he needed, the rest is up to him, whether he will success or not it depend on him, learn from your mistake kidd and please be a great player we always dream of!:)

yea, so far this season i think most of us have been pretty disappointed in him. makes a lot of stupid mistakes; wayward passes, idiotic runs.
reminds me a bit of rano last season. he needs continuity first of all. how else can we see how good or bad he actually is.

he needs the confidence of the coach. maybe use him as starter and cassano as impact supersub. so far im not impressed, not at all.

Coutinho has begun playing more like a forward and less like an AM. He is to small for the AM position on this team anyways. We don't play a possession based style like Barca, we need more strength in the midfield. Right now Guarin is more affective and hopefully a deep lying playmaker is on the way. So we should play him as the support striker in the 3-4-1-2 with Guarin behind him. I know it's tough when Cassano is having a great season and Palacio is always a threat, but I think it's best for us in the long run. A month of playing as starter and we'll be looking at a different player.

Coutinho given continuity was doing well (before the injury), he just needs to pick it up again.

He's trying to show off like he needs to prove something, complicates things unnecessarily.
