If our long term plan is to continue playing the formation we currently play, then there's no space for Coutinho. Sadly.

I mean, he should be a good cassano sub, yet we rarely ever seem to use him there. I'd like him to stay until the summer at least, so we can see what we can do for him

but if we're sticking to like a 3-4-1-2, I dont know how we fit Coutinho into that system.

If Strama wants to return to a 4-2-3-1 once he has the players he needs, then we can talk

Coutinho can easily fit in 3-4-1-2 as a SS.He is actually the ideal one for it...Can run at defenders, has pace to lead a quick counter(our biggest problem which Guarin has solved to an extent),can dribble, has vision and creativity to bring others into play, can penetrate on the flanks and swing in a quick cross. All he needs to do is work on his finishing...

If we sell him I don't see myself getting over it.

The problem with the attributes you list, is that he hasn't displayed any of them in 5 months.

But that's a different story.

Coutinho sort of works as a vice-cassano, but the problem with Cassano is, that if we play him with Milito, you end up overloaded on the left flank.

If you're trying to play something like a 3-4-1-2, that means when attacking you end up with like

.... Cambiasso Gargano

Zanetti.....Guarin.....Pereira

........Milito..............Cassano

Which doesn't really work

If you want to do that, you have to go with the 3-4-3 - which of course we have tried at various times, which allows Milito and the guy on the other flank to hunt in the box, while the guy on the attacking flank can work his way out wide to support the wing back.

I mean how often do we attack down the right now? Barely ever, you rely on Zanetti doing a great run for it. Most of our play is overloaded attacking on the left as it is, the balance is bad - you just tell your defenders to slightly cover to their right a bit more and you nullify alot of what we do

Like you said 3-4-1-2

Problem is that Strama running away from his 4-3-3 and he's using modified 3-5-2 implemented originaly by Conte. Guarin is our Pirlo&Vidal in one person, Zanetti should be our version of Marchisio and gargano is just useles.

Coutinho is better second striker from all our strikers together. He can run&driblle, he can create and he could probably score if we will give him chanse. Just like Juventus using Giovinco.

How stupid we have to be to offload our most talented player ... Sell Alvarez, offload Gargano, Mudingay, Silvestre, Stanković, Rochi and you have saved money for Paulinho. Use Sneijders money for Belhanda and that's it.

Belhanda covers Alvarez and Sneijders minutes (that's not hard at all)
Paulinho and Benassi could cover everything what Gargano, Mudingay and Stanković played.
Coutinho must have Rochi's minutes.
Silvestre can be replaced by Cordoba in some games.

I know this isn't real because we just brougth Rocchi but ... I can't believe that we are thinking to offload Coutinho and we're still paying morons like Branca, Stanković, Rochi, Silvestre, Mudy, Ricky, Gargano ...

Well, at least LFC is my favourite club from England :work:

More seriously - I won't survive this if we sell him for the buck.

Yes, I think 15 mln euro for hot brazilian prospect is low price, even if he didn't achieve anything special. Nowadays fucking Lucas costs 40 mln, he's not more than 2x times better than Cou.

There's very little chance we will drop Guarin from that position right now, though. That was my point - I agree Coutinho can play there, but Guarin is fucking dominating that position right now. Easily our best player in the last month or two.

Guarin is more CM and I agree that he's bossing. He's bossing on the way that he don't play like pure "1" in 3-4-1-2. He's more half and half, litlle like CM and litlle like AMC. Even so, I would love to see Coutinho like SS.

I agree, but he hasn't vision and creativity. He just get the ball and starting to run with it and dribbling through defenders. I don't remember at all when he made fantastic long balls or made an assist to strikers for 100 % chance or something like that.

He must be some SS and not a playmaker.

sure, but however you cut it, guarin is currently being selected as that "1". How he interprets that role is different, but he's certainly being played as that "1", and very effectively too

I hope we won't be selling Coutinho, especially after just selling Sneijder. Inter should keep Coutinho and use him properly. It might be a bit difficult in the current tactic but formations are to be changed according to the players we have at our disposal and I think that a 100% fit Coutinho deserves to be a key (starter or rotational wise) squad player.

ofcourse, he should be rotated with cassano, they should get equal amount of time. same with palacio and milito. guarin isnt even in the equation since he is meant to be played a bit deeper.

if they dare to sell him though... then im finished with this shit. im taking my break lol

Selling Coutinho :chan: ?

The fuck is wrong with the management. All that for Paulinho? :yao:

Ffs. They can spend 8 million for Schelotto but 18 for Paulinho is suddenly too much and Cou must be sold?

This mercato goes from one fuck up to another. Starting with Rocchi and ending with selling Cou, keeping Jonathan, getting 30+ serie A proven loser. (Valdes, Cassani, Maccarone)

He isn't exactly getting big minutes with us but I hope he stays because we absolutely need every skilled player given the fact we are lacking in terms of offensive skill so much.

Just wanted to say that I've expected selling Coutinho over Alvarez tbh. Coutinho is way more talented, younger and already a better player. It doesn't surprise me on bit that nobody wants Alvarez. He is trash unlike Cou.

I really doubt that he would ever succeed as a playmaker, and even less of a chance at Inter. For one, he hasn't shown the vision to be one for some time. But also, we hardly see the traditional playmakers anymore. The only one at a top club is Totti.

We're moving to a scenario where players ahead are hardworking and defend, while the deeper players open up plays with their passing. Coutinho can work as a winger/wide forward but not as 1 in 3412.

Honestly, I dont know really where Liverpool would play Coutinho right now.

I certainly dont think he's going to offer much on Downing - who, whilst he's been a terrible signing for Lpool, is starting to show some form - and if they are going to start Sturridge regularly at Centre Forward, Suarez either has to move to a wing (unlikely), or they change formation to something more like a 4-4-2.

Sterling on current form certainly deserves his place, in my opinion, which in the current formation leaves only really the AMC position, if you're assuming Allen-Lucas then Gerrard has that in the bag.

He can go from sitting on the bench at Inter to sitting on the bench at Liverpool. Simple as that. Not really worth it - he'd probably have more space at the moment at Liverpool since they play a formation suitable for him, and we currently dont, but that's not going to fix his problems.

Southampton would be the better choice in terms of actually playing, and development, imho.

Downing has been showing some form but nothing dazzling. Still he's going in the right direction. As for Suarez, Liverpool have been practicing him not being the focal point of attacks in training for some time (with the signing of Sturridge having been imminent for some time now). Suarez has also worked out wide (not quite as a winger but an inside forward) quite effectively before for Ajax and even Uruguay and so far. So for me, Suarez's position in the team is not quite as others see it. Then there is Gerrard who famously plays in an attacking midfield role, yet he's gotten almost all of his assists and good performances this season when being played deeper in midfield, this season.

As for Sterling. The only thing this guy has going for him right now for me is that he's very young. His ability right at the moment is not good enough to be in the first team. Unfortunately Suso doesn't yet seem to be good enough. So I can imagine a central midfield of Lucas, Gerrard, Henderson (or sometimes Allen) and then 3 forwards : Coutinho Sturridge and Suarez. . maybe with Coutinho just behind the 2 as from what i gather, Coutinho isn't the best finisher in the world?

Having said all this, I think Liverpool's interest may be elsewhere as bayern appear to be about to try and buy Suarez. . . which is just a complete nightmare situation.

Meh, I dont think Bayern will be signing anyone until the summer. Now that Guardiola is definitely coming in, they'll let him take care of the transfer plans. He needs to see all the lads in training before he makes any assessment.

Yes, I was aware of the inside forward stuff with Suarez. I disagree on Sterling, though. He lacks end product at times, but the way he uses his pace to buy space and tuck in behind the defense causes a lot of problems - though, as stated, he needs to work on his end product to utilize himself in a more lethal manner.

To be honest, it really depends which Coutinho shows up. If you're lucky, its the one who has the great range of passing, and the decent vision. He could play the AMC role pretty well.

If the Coutinho we've seen for the last 4-5 months shows up, then he won't be at all effective in that role. Coutinho lately has been attempting to play more like an inside forward, and at that, not so well.

Though, if he does move to Liverpool, I'll be quite excited (pissed off at Inter, though) - David N'gog lived in my building when he first moved here, as did some of Hodgson's coaches, so I wonder if I'll be neighbours with Coutinho.

Why can't he play as the 1 in the 3412? He doesn't necessary has to be a playmaker. He can play as an attacking midfielder. He just needs to be surrounded by good player so Cou can play and focus on his game. Just let him be surrounded with Cambiasso, Guarin, Cassano and Palacio for at least 5 games. And then we'll talk about not fitting as the 1 In 3-4-1-2.

In every other Italian club he would at least get his chance.

It's insanely stupid to sell him. He's with Juan our most talented prospect. If he will be sold, we might as well sell Bessa, Livaja, Garritano, Benassi. I just hope we aren't that stupid enough.
