I feel that, I still have a Liverpool jersey with 'El Nino' on the back somewhere ;)

As for Coutinho, it seems that the boys at the Guardian and Liverpool echo were correct. liverpool have flown people out to Milan to complete the deal today.

Also, it appears that Downing is on his way to Sunderland. When you think about the 2 things, it makes a lot more sense this way.

i can only guess that the staff at Inter have come to the conclusion that Coutinho really isn't going to work out. he's either really not liking it there and just being polite and professional to the fans or maybe the manager has absolutely no faith in his ability/potential. I obviously hope that he's unhappy with something at Inter and isn't going to be a waste of money. We don't need another Ryan Babel.

Meh, I dont think Bayern will be signing anyone until the summer. Now that Guardiola is definitely coming in, they'll let him take care of the transfer plans. He needs to see all the lads in training before he makes any assessment.

Yes, I was aware of the inside forward stuff with Suarez. I disagree on Sterling, though. He lacks end product at times, but the way he uses his pace to buy space and tuck in behind the defense causes a lot of problems - though, as stated, he needs to work on his end product to utilize himself in a more lethal manner.

To be honest, it really depends which Coutinho shows up. If you're lucky, its the one who has the great range of passing, and the decent vision. He could play the AMC role pretty well.

If the Coutinho we've seen for the last 4-5 months shows up, then he won't be at all effective in that role. Coutinho lately has been attempting to play more like an inside forward, and at that, not so well.

Though, if he does move to Liverpool, I'll be quite excited (pissed off at Inter, though) - David N'gog lived in my building when he first moved here, as did some of Hodgson's coaches, so I wonder if I'll be neighbours with Coutinho.

Did you ever see him "tuck it in his sock" ;)

So it looks like we're about to sign Belhanda for 14m euros. Basically getting him for Coutinho+2m euros - if this is the case then I can see why we're leaning towards letting Coutinho go.

To be honest, it will take a LOT of development for him to 'make it'. He has all the raw skills, no one will ever argue that, but his development is starkly lacking of late, and I would actually criticize his mental attributes personally - he isn't looking for the pass, or looking to play teammates into the game.

Either way, I would not be annoyed if we kept Coutinho - not in the slightest. And I would still rather sell Alvarez, if we're going to sell one of the two. But at the same time, if it's for Belhanda, I'm not entirely 100% against selling Coutinho, and I can start to see why the media stories aren't getting rebuffed more.

He's at a cross roads in his career, where he could develop on to be someone of significant impact, or someone like Anderson/Denilson/etc. I wish him all the best, no matter what happens.

Id make the deal ...

Get a ready Made player who will slot in, less development ...rather than a Cou who might not turn out as we think he will , in the end...

I can't believe it either. They gave him number 7 and everything... Our management couldn't be that stupid right?

I'm really hoping we read some sort of statement later today from Moratti/Branca/Cou's agent that he won't go anywhere.

Its not like Coutinho is some superb player or smth. Im just scared that we will get some shit money, then the money will just vanish into our famous OTHER expenditure and will end with some rocchi shit.
We should just tease them, force them to pay 15+ for him, sell Alvarez too and bid 30m for Isco or smth- in that case he can go.

I really doubt that he would ever succeed as a playmaker, and even less of a chance at Inter. For one, he hasn't shown the vision to be one for some time. But also, we hardly see the traditional playmakers anymore. The only one at a top club is Totti.

We're moving to a scenario where players ahead are hardworking and defend, while the deeper players open up plays with their passing. Coutinho can work as a winger/wide forward but not as 1 in 3412.

he can played as a playmaker, please look again at his performance back in benitez's era, just take a look of his footage man, before he got injured that is, imagine if he can combine the way he use to played then and the way he played in preseason, coutinho gonna be a very useful player for us

my post 1 or 2 months ago :
hi N4l, long time no chat:)
I agreed with your point about phillipe, but I strongly disagree if u said coutinho has been playing like this since his arrived in 2010, actually there was a quite big gap between the old coutinho and the nowadays coutinho, the old coutinho is always looking for a pass, always looking for a teammate way more often then coutinho now, but back then I always felt that he needed to step out from his comfort zone, he need to try penetrate more often, but now he is just :yao:, way too selfish, if u disagree with my opinion, please look at the footage back in 2010 or during benitez's regime, the truth is he was impressive until he suffered from hamsring injury (unfortunate really), that's why I often thought that if only he can combine the intelligent or clever play that he has in 2010 and the penetration plus determination he has now, he will be awesome, a good player, I'm quite confidence about that.

cassano, palacio and milito can't stay healthy all season long, injury just around the corner, and I'm against loaning him out again, not only it will affect our depth in attacking department, it probably also affect coutinho's confidence, at least don't loan him now. its a fragile period for cou now, we've been giving all the support that he needed, the rest is up to him, whether he will success or not it depend on him, learn from your mistake kidd and please be a great player we always dream of!:)

I have noticed Inter fans referring to Coutinho's best time being under Rafa as his best. With Rafa only lasting 6 months in the job, I'd have expected your fans to have no real respect for the man. but certainly with Coutinho, the oppinion doesn't seemto be a bad one, is this the case in general too?

If rafa thought Coutinho was a player with a future, that's good enough for me!
