It looks defensive on paper but if you just shift the wingers up 20 meters it's not that different from FdB's 4-2-3-1. When we have the ball the shape probably won't look that different.

hahaha I just imagined a scenario in which a ball gets passed to icardi he loses it and falls the referee waves play on and we recover the ball with a medel interception only to lose it again and one of Southampton's players randomly pumps he ball up and rannochia bizarrely falls while trying to receive the ball and misses it only for the ball to reach austin and during that moment you can see nagatomo looking at the opposite side of where the ball is, luckily handanovic saves austin's weak shot.
