Yes, he did change Madrid, but Barcelona was still better than them having SIMILARS budgets....
So it's clear Mourinho should go to Atletico Madrid or that kind of team. And Simeone to Inter.

Clearly budget isn't something that will miraculous save a team. Just look at Inter and Milan.

And Inter 2010. Budget didn't win him a CL.

"I don’t know if, I try to translate from my Portuguese, which is almost perfect, to my English, which is far from perfect – ‘football heritage’, what a manager inherits.

“It is something like the last time Manchester United won the Champions League, which didn’t happen a lot of times, was in 2008. Since 2011: 2012, out in the group phase, the group was almost the same group we had this season – Benfica, Basel and [Otelul] Galati from Romania. Out in the group phase.

“In 2013, out at Old Trafford in the last 16, I was on the other bench. In 2014, out in the quarter-final. In 2015, no European football. In 2016, comes back to European football, out in the group phase, goes to Europa League and on the second knockout out of the Europa League. In 2017, play Europa League, win Europa League with me and goes back to Champions League. In 2018, win the group phase with 15 points out of a possible 18 and loses at home in the last 16.

“So, in seven years with four different managers, once not qualify for Europe, twice out in the group phase and the best was the quarter-final. This is football heritage.

“If you want to go to the Premier League, the last victory was 12-13 and in the four consecutive seasons United finish seventh, fourth, five and six. So in the last four years the best was fourth. This is football heritage. It means that when you start the process you are here, you are there or you are there, is heritage.

Interesting press conference today.

This might be true but there are so many journalists who said Madrid spell broke him. He isn't the same Jose who managed Chelsea and Inter.

His 3 years at Madrid was just toxic, bad atmosphere in Madrid dressing room, el Clasico became even more toxic with lot of rift between Madrid and Barca Spanish players.

It might be true that those 3 years took a lot from Jose mentally. Then it might be also true that he is left behind.

I think there's truth to this. Mourinho's always had a back-against-the-wall siege mentality. Up until then, the big clubs he managed were considered relative outsiders, and he was able to use that to get his players to buy into his mentality. But at RM, he had players who probably thought of themselves as more establishment. Suddenly it wasn't Mourinho and his players against the world, it was now Mourinho against the world by himself. The players didn't believe in him enough to sustain their success, and I'm sure Perez's implication that Mourinho's hiring was a stylistic compromise to dethrone Barcelona didn't make him feel truly wanted. And maybe similar things happened at Chelsea and now Man Utd.

That's why I also feel he was a perfect match for Inter. A team in a league full of cheaters.

Mourinho will not be back at Inter unless we have unlimited transfer budget like Man Utd or PSG, or we have a squad as good as the 2009 one. He needs AT LEAST either of those to succeed. He can't do anything with a limited transfer budget and a squad that is not top quality.
If he comes back here, it will be a disaster and ruin the best memory about him.

Has nothing to do with what happened with Seville, at home you cant bench Mata ur best playmaker and one of ur best players and you cant lost 2-1 to an average Seville team.

Also other people mentioned this on ESPN, Lukaku, Matic, De Bryne and Salah at one point all played under him. They weren't the players they are today but he loaned them out at the time where he could have developed them.

still doesn't explain what happened vs Sevilla. What a shit show. Entertaining however.

It's like watching Jose's parody account.

He talks about inheritance, Heritage when he lost to Sevilla who never made QFs of CL in 60 years. This is the team that was embarrassed so badly this season by so many teams including fucking Sprartak or some small team, Jose went with cowardly tactics and then started lecturing how hard it was as ManUtd didn't do well in last 3-4 years.

Well yeah, ManUtd did bad as they hired past it managers like Jose and a shit one in Moyes.

Why doesn't it matter? He expressively says that there's no barrier between Man Utd and the Sevillas of this world. Which is true based on his 'heritage' argument. Add the cocky mentality that Man Utd has, and you have the idea that these players will overrun the Sevillas without even appearing on the pitch.

Jose past it  Just because Marketing Utd is not suitable for Mourinho doesn't mean he's past anything.

If the team expected Mourinho to be more offensive it's their fault they are disappointed.

At Inter he was more open to adjusting to circumstances and team at his disposal I would say. We all remember him fondly because of everything he did here, but we should be aware that he has his flaws which become more evident lately.

He is still a great coach.
If MAN U gives him time and invests in quality players, he will be back up there surely.

I am sure he can turn it around, but that press conference was strange to say the least. What are you talking about up there? If you just said post match that you are the coach and its on you, that would have been the end of it, why are u talking about ur games against United and the last couple of years? U lost at home to an average team compared to yours with you leaving Mata on the bench and your tactics backfiring on you, the end.
