Mancini is one of the main reasons Inter did bad in the Europe, not to mention the large amount of terrible players he signed and played and his bias towards certain players, questionable subs, tactics and starting players. He is a coach who i thought would improve after Lazio and Fiorentina and all of us while we do appreciate the league wins, as time told we were right.

With Italy, he is off-course among the best choices, good thing is that he cant sign anyone for Italy.

I respectfully disagree. In my 30 years of following Inter, some of Inter's most sensible transfer campaigns have been during Mancini's time.

In his first spell at Inter, we spent only €124m in total in 4 seasons (average total spend of just €31m per season). The net spend in those 4 years was just €26m (average net spend of just €7m per season!). Even with that little spend, he left a far superior team to the one he inherited, 3 time scudetto winners. Some of the players he bought included Julio Cesar, Maicon, Cambiasso, Samuel, Figo, Maxwell, Ibrahimovic, Chivu and Vieira.

In his second spell at Inter in 18 months, we spent €101m with a net spend of -€10m. We sold more than we bought. Again, in my opinion he left a better team than he inherited - some of the good players he bought included Miranda, Brozovic and Perisic. But the big change he brought was that sought after players started considering us over big european teams again, like Kondogbia choosing us over Arsenal, Shaqiri choosing us over Liverpool, etc.

Just look at our transfer campaigns before/after Mancini's spells for comparison - Mourinho's spell apart, the rest were absolutely disastrous transfer campaigns - the worst being last season where we spent €157m (net spend of €138m). In Mancini's almost 6 seasons with Inter, his net transfer spend was €16m in total.

I know its fashionable to hate Mancini in this forum, perhaps hate every coach who hasn't won us the treble. But lets give credit where its due, Mancini may have many faults but he is usually very competent in transfers considering the constraints. Instead of focussing on the transfer mistakes he made, look at the overall picture and compare him with other Inter coaches. Any coach who walks away from a very lucrative 3 year contract because he does not want to spend €80m on Yao Mario and Gabishit is aces in my books.

Mancini did not have a bearing in the transfer of Cambiasso, he was a done deal before Mancini.

Mancini probably didn't have a bearing on many of the transfers during his years, I am just quoting the facts of what happened during his time. We all know that at Inter sometimes there are too many people interfering with the transfers - from crazy presidents (Moratti) to greedy superagents (Kia), sometimes to a level where the coach has little influence. Which is one of the reasons why its so hard for a coach to succeed at Inter.

In my opinion, in the last 25 years only 3 coaches at Inter manage to influence transfers to a large degree - Mancini, Mourinho and to a lessor extent Lippi. Even then, I remember Mancini could not get most of his first choice players last time like Yaya Toure, Dybala, Kolarov, etc - so it wasn't a free reign like what happens in EPL. However over Mancini's almost 6 seasons at Inter, you can see a pattern in transfers. Comparing that to the usual fucking chaos before and after Mancini's time, its logical to infer that Mancini had a sensible impact on our transfer strategy.

People don't hate on Mancini because it's fashionable, people hate on him because he's a ridiculous dipshit who can't stop getting in his own way, and by that extension, our way.

Looking at his second spell in particular, despite "bringing in" players like Miranda, Brozovic, Perisic etc. he also swapped Kovacic for Kondogbia, arguably the third greatest flop in Inter history after Gabigol and Joao Mario. He had a perfectly competent left back in Telles but preferred Nagatomo, he "convinced" Shaqiri to pick us over Liverpool only for him to change his mind immediately and piss him off to Stoke, thereby wasting everyone's time and money. He had a fantastic 24 year old player in Ljajic for $11m, but preferred to spend $12m on a 30 year old Eder instead, once again showing that trend of preferring "industrious" old cunts to skill. He also brought back Santon for what, $7m? Melo?

For every bit of good that Mancini does (and I don't deny he has done plenty of good), it's as if he goes out of his way to negate that with ludicrous and illogical decisions. And for what? What objectives did we accomplish with him at the helm the second time around? If he was managing the team on and off the pitch, in a way which I did not agree with but was meeting goals (i.e. CL qualification, competing for Coppa Italia, not getting trashed in the Europa League etc) I wouldn't be half as annoyed. But with Mancini it's always gotta be his way, and the trade-off was resoundingly not worth it.

I never said we didn't sign great players, i said the large amount of terrible players he signed.

Let me re-phrase that since i am not sure his degree of involvement in any transfers with us,

The terrible tactics and terrible players he kept playing.

Also you only talked about the transfers, the rest of my post had a lot of other points as well.

Iirc Mancini also bumped up wages by almost €20m, which are a far stronger indicator of player quality. So don't make it sound like he was pinching pennies. He got a better squad than Mazzarri or Stramaccioni because Inter were able to spend more on wages.

Have to agree that Mancini did leave a distinctive mark on our transfers though. Can't remember another time when so many players were shipped in and out after spending 6 months here.

The mother fucker called shaqiri him selfe when he was still at bayern and told him how much he wanted him here, bayern gave us a discount because shaq wanted to play here the main reason being mancini. What does Good old roberto do he plays him in the beginning realises that he s not the player he thought he is and fucking stops playing him without talking to shaq. And then ships out the player he so desperately wanted after 6 months! I have to say that this is all according to shaq.

He s a fucking joke of a manager and his eye for talent is way overrated. Only thing he s really good at is fielding as many dms as possible.

I just find it hilarious that this bloke has maneuvered himself into yet another high-paying coaching position.

It's because nobody "high profile" wanted the job, which by the way, is exactly how Ventura ended up with it the first time.

Frustrating to see Sarri still available, I wonder if he would have taken the job.

Only at Inter do you find fans criticising one of our legends for no apparent reason. I for one still remember what Mancini did for us, and he will always have my gratitude. He took over the club at the worst point of our history (17 seasons without a scudetto), and with very little investment won 3 scudetti and kickstarted the greatest winning run in our club history. Those are facts. Whatever his limitations as a coach, how can we ever forget that? Respect is the least we can offer.

Coming back to Azzurri's first 2 games under Mancini, I think the criticism is without any foundation. This is the worst Italy in terms of talent (at least since I started following football 32 years ago) and at one of its worst moments (no qualified for WC). The best thing a new coach can do is to start blooding a new generation of youngsters with the hope that some of them show growth.

Mancini gave debuts to Caldara, Politano, Berardi and Mandragora, plus played players like Chiesa, Pellegrini, Jorginho, Cristante, Romagnoli, Verdi, Balotelli, etc who were largely ignored. The was no point in trying to put out the best team of golden oldies to get a result against France, who are one of the best teams in the world. It was a perfect game to experiment and give some youngsters some experience at this level, and thats exactly what Mancini did. People keep talking about Mancini's boring midfields full of DMs, but did you see any of the 2 games? For the talent he has available, Mancini put quite decent midfields with young players like Pellegrini, Jorginho, Florenzi, Mandragora, Cristante... How can anyone criticise Mancini for doing exactly what most of us Italy fans have been crying out for in the last few years?

Lets treat our legends with some respect. Criticise them when there is a genuine reason, but these baseless criticisms lack respect. Never belittle Inter achievements or legends, that seriously lacks class.

I respect Mancini but Hector Cuper saved our ass back then. That dude doesn't get enough credit for the same reason as Mancini. Both could get on nerves with their terrible football and stubbornness.

Lmao, so now people are criticising Mancini without reasons.

Dudes, there are exactly 700 pages of reasoning here.

Just because some people here choose to not read them or ignore them, doesn't mean the reasoning doesn't exist.

Mancini fanboys really live in their own deluded world where they come in everynow and then after some quietness and claims everyone else makes groundless claims while indoctrinating us on the number of trophies he won.

People will remember titles. Didn't it take the same amount of time for Mancini to win the PL as the legendary Guardiola?
