Stubborn fucker as manager. Constantly the 3-4-3, always calling the same fuckers, regardless of how few games they play or how bad they been playing prior, ...

Imagine how stubborn he will be when he is 60.

I actually think Netherlands are looking really, really good right now. Very controlled and deliberate. Like they know they will beat you tactically and break you down.

England still very impulsive, reactive....not really in control. I think that'd be a great matchup in all honest. I'd prefer France NOT in because they will play catenaccio. Fucking deschamps :palm:

And yeah, I can't stand Martinez. Thinks he is too good tactically.....

England don't have any controlling midfielders, they have shit midfielders tbh. This team with someone like Carrick would have been very good. They are all pace though, they are very deadly on counters, hard to keep up with the pace of that team.

France is very tricky one, with the players they have, they should dominate games but they prefer to play on counters. It's not good to watch but they are getting results. For a long run, they should change their approach.

I read somewhere that Martinez lost like 3 games out of his last 33, so it looks like it's silly to just put this all on him. The team itself is just getting overconfident/arrogant after being overhyped for so long in both the media & FIFA Ranking - when they were 2-0 up they assumed that the rest would go automatically and the win was secured. So they became lazy and rightfully got wrecked.

This has put them back with their feet on the ground, which is always a good thing. Only now it sucks that it comes with losing the chance to win the Nations League and already secure a spot at the EUROs.

Tonight I'm expecting Germany to resurrect and completely destroy us, crushing our hopes as well because this would let France move on instead. This won't feel as shit though, since no one had expected our hopes to even be there in the first place. We're already too happy just to see improvement in our team and to not be relegating...

Doubt they will destroy Netherlands, they might win a game though for a change.

You guys are very unlucky, I mean the level of talent available in the defense (CB) is very good but your attack is not that good, few years back your attack was very good but defense was average.

Hopefully we will see one more De Jong performance today. He is just superb player to watch.

Does anyone know why Croatia didn't play Rakitic against England? Seemed like an odd decision, considering they lost and got relegated.

You're not confident in how you're playing atm? I think the Dutch right now are playing the best football. Depay at false 9 has been superb and very difficult to contain. Defense is solid as fuck. Midfield balance is really good. I won't be surprised if Germany gets beat tonight as well. You're playing better football by a wide margin.

Agreed. England right now doesn't have a real CM. Dier at DM (average) but then more AMs like barkley, dele, lingaard etc. They are dangerous on the counter. They probably should play a bit more defensively like France tbh.

Deschamps just pisses me off with what he's doing. It's one thing to play with more balance and not chase infinite possession like Germany, but they straight up go park the bus and it's annoying with the talent they have.

Yeah he lost a bet

Looked like the spanking I expected was gonna happen and it certainly deserved to. Germany is just insane. Feels like they can just pull some youngsters from wherever and return to the top immediately. Their country is just infested with talent... They deserved to win 4-0 imo.

We didn't really grow into this game at all - but tbh a huge part of that was down to Tete, who started as RB instead of the very successful (vs France at least) Dumfries... Tete's not in form & has played a whopping 75 minutes for his club all season... So this was a WTF for an important game like this one - and of course the Germans took advantage & wrecked him and our right wing all the time. Messing up our entire defense because De Ligt and Van Dijk constantly had to fill in for Tete... Resulting in German goals - even tho Cillessen failed pretty badly on those as well. Then Tete couldn't be subbed due to others getting injured... Ugh. I hope this game serves as confirmation for Tete being benched for Dumfries.

Anyways, managing to come back to 2-2 in a game that's not really going well for you at all, is an awesome feat on its own imo. I mean, you could also just totally lose your shit and go on to concede 5 instead.

My life expectancy has shortened considerably tonight thanks to this fucking thriller, but I'll take it... Final Four is a result I wouldn't have believed in a billion years beforehand... Or maybe if I was high on crack cocaine o_O

Lmfao after the 2-1 Koeman passed this letter on to Van Dijk and it changed everything, resulting in his goal.

Skriniar
I have really bad feeling about the new coach of Slovak team.

He obviosly prefer playing attacking football. We played the whole match with the same concept, which only worked 20 minutes. Then nothing changed. Czech players adapted and we were outplayed with so many defensive errors... Ouch.

We started our build up play with 3 at the back, trying to get the ball quickly to oponents half by passes mainly in wing area with high positioned fullbacks. Then, oponent started high pressure with 2 men and blocking all passing options. Skriniar made a lot of mistakes.

I have no fucking idea, why we didn't change our build up play for the rest of the match. Goalkeeper always played short passes. Like how the heck... Even reactions after the match didn't mentioned our tactical miserables.

In Skriniar's threat I was talking about how players forced the old coach to resign and some guy in response insulted him as a bad coach. Today proves him wrong.

How do you Dutch vrienden rate your defenders? I notice De Vrij is a very clear 2nd choice player in the NT behind van Dijk and de Ligt.

Personally the first time I watched van Dijk was for Celtic playing against us in the Europa League and I felt immediately he'd be a big name player at a big club in no time. That said, I wasn't 100% sold on his technical ability and even today I'm yet to be truly convinced by his skills in certain regards - kinda like Bonucci for example. You simply can not argue that Bonucci hasn't been a top-level CB for the better part of a decade, but there's no doubt he's helped by the system he plays in and the strength of those around him.

So, for those that follow closer, please tell me how you rate and compare van Dijk, de Ligt and de Vrij.

Van Dijk's most important thing about him is the ability to lead a defence.

People freak out about van Dijk because the transfer fee was so high, but such is the nature of inter-EPL transfers.
