Numbers dropped like this without the relevant context are meaningless. There isn't much proper data analysis on football to quantify quality unlike baseball which is a static sport and to an extent volleyball where there is no physical contact between teams.
All other sports will always sound like hipsters using these "advanced statistics" or even fancy basic ones such as goal/total shots aka conversion rate...

Actually, his conversion rate is in line or even slightly better than that of some of Serie A's most acclaimed forwards.

In the same time frame, in fact, Icardi scored 40 league goals in return for 174 shots, which leads to a 23% conversion rate. However, if you don't take into account the 11 penalties that helped him boost his stats (Lukaku never took a pk for United), his goal/shots ratio drops to 17%. I refuse to check the stats of any of our other players because I don't want to get depressed. :D
Taking a look at non-Inter players, last season's MVP :)lol:) Ronaldo scored 24 goals over 185 attempts (c.r. 12%, 11% w/o penalties), while the "gunslinger" Piatek got 23 goals out of his 120 shots (c.r. 19%, 17% w/o penalties).

This doesn't make Lukaku a better striker than them, but should at least dispel the myth that he's a lousy, extremely inaccurate striker. Especially considering that two of the three players I mentioned have little to no football talent besides the ability to shoot at goal.

Just for laughs, Messi and Mbappé fared a little better, boasting a conversion rate of 21% (19% w/o penalties) and 26% (25% w/o penalties) respectively.

Colorful post, I love it.

I have no idea how some of you can be so optimistic about the guy.

Poor first touch

Poor anticipation

He's clumsy - especially when trying to dribble

Back in October 2018 he admitted that he was overweight - gained muscle for the World Cup -. There's also the issue of his fitness level. In April there was a match where he came in in the 70th min and was completely gassed after 10min of play :palm:

I don't know about you guys but i'm being fairly pessimistic when it comes to the signing of Lukaku.

Conte buys Conte knows.

Marotta would never let Conte sign a chump without cross checking reference, because he has 20 years of experience in this business.

Man U wanted to get rid of him. You miss this fact. They didn't exposed that as Inter's management did with Icardi but it was quite obvious. 65mln + 10 more = 75mln which is only 8 below demanded 83mln by Edi.
Inter could have handled this smarter but it was clear from the beginning that Lukaku is our first and the only one target for the attack, so United kept firm to the very end.
In addition - nobody else was really interested in Lukaku.

What is paid now is 65M. We may add 10M with some conditions, which we don't know yet. The bonus may be paid, may be not. The demand was 83M, straight cash. So, as things stand it is 65M compared to 83M, it is 18M less. Paid in 5 years.

I like the psychological persuasion of discounts.

That’s a whole 22% discount, great deal!! It’s like free!!!

We shouldn't be expecting a like-for-like replacement for Icardi. He's definitely not as clinical as Icardi is but he brings a lot more to the table with his overall game that Icardi was lacking. I'm optimistic as Conte seems to have a plan and I have a feeling he will do well.

Side note: we play Cagliari in Sardinia second match. Odds of Lukaku getting racially jeered are probably high, given the idiots in Sardinia

We lose 2-0 with a brace from Ninja and then Lukaku gets racially abused and storms off, season over ...lol

Looks like he's in good shape there. If that's what people call fat, then I'd love to be fat.

There's no point hating him at this point. He's an Inter player now. I rate him highly. No doubt one of the top 5 Premier League strikers for the past 6-7 seasons. Forza Lukaku.

He looks happy to be here. All I want is a player that can hustle, fight and defend from the top. I do not care if he is not as prolific as Icardi. For me, the main thing is that Lukaku plays for the team, does what his coach instructs and does not act like a self-absorbed cunt.
