Well, Conte trusts Vecino more in these situations. Inter played bad and Conte also didn't want to give Esposito a Lazaro treatment.
Vecino and Politano are more experienced,
Our team was in a shitty condition in the last 15 minutes
If Esposito came and we lost, it s not good at all for the starlet..

I agree with conte's move here

he didn't take part in post-match interviews, officially because he had a fever. there are rumours though, he was just too angry and he didn't feel like showing it on tv.

Yeah he was already on fire at the 4-3, even before the 4-1 he still was in the game like he already knew how fast the situation could change.

edit: sorry i mean at the 4-1 he was on fire, even before the 4-3. :eek:blivious:

today the team had a longer video review to re watch what happend in the second half, said gazetta.

I love anyway the fact that nothing get's ignored and we keep working on everything. The team and the coach have to be angry like the fans. They should know that this is the last time that something like that happends. It's not possibile to let the opponent come back in the game after a dominant 4-1 in just 15 minutes, it's not accetable and Conte knows this.
Dortmund is not Sassuolo, the players have to fucking focus, no more Pazza Inter, thanks.

I love his intensity and the fact that he leaves no stone unturned in his mission to make us a better team. In the past we would have drawn or lost against Sassuolo and in the event of a win past coaches would have been happy with the three points and would have moved on.

I read this morning that when he met with the team on Monday he let them know in no uncertain terms that the manner in which they played towards the end of the game and conceded two goals was in no way acceptable. That is what a real coach does as opposed to simply being satisfied with the three points, breathing a huge sigh of relief and moving on to the next game.

It looks like he singled out Godin, it def is not his fault as he has played in a back 4 all his life, but why sign him though if you dont know what the coach wants? He is too good for the bench, i think he leaves in Jan if he doesnt play till then. I would do a deal with Atletico and get a first refusal on any of their top players.

My hope is he improves and adapts but its hard to do that at 33 and u spent ur whole life in a back 4.

EDIT:

I forgot he was signed in Jan, that makes sense since he was a free agent so he had to be signed quick to avoid competition.

It was the media who singled him out. Conte backed him the same way he's backed all the other players, even Lazaro when he was asked about him.

Conte is beating the old Inter out of Inter. The "freelancing" is slowly getting kicked out.

Still has a lot of work to do with the tactical problems we have.

The defence usually is isolated with the ball at the back when Brozovic doesn't make himself available.

And our defensive transition is not great and for a team that wants to use this style, it's something we need to fix asap. Away to Dortmund will be a completely different game and they will seek to exploit that.

I like how he has balls to start Esposito instead of Politano who has been a shit last few appearances. If Spalletti was on charge, he would have introduced Borja instead of Lukaku at the half time to protect the lead.

Antonio Conte reflected on Inter’s vital 2-0 Champions League group stage success over Borussia Dortmund in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia post-match.“These are three important points. The type of relationship with the players is important: when you are honest and you talk in their face, in the end they appreciate you,” he started.“Dortmund changed their system and with them defending as a back five it shows that they were afraid of us. It was a tactical game and we were good and performed as we had prepared. Even when they returned to 4-2-3-1, we did good to consolidate the victory.“Our situation is not simple because you can be made to pay for having so many injuries but I am very happy especially for the boys, these are the nights that repay them for the sacrifices they make. Last year they worked so hard with Spalletti to get to this Champions League and everything needed to be done to continue this dream.“We know we are not favourites, but we had to win to keep our chances alive. Now let’s recover, because in three days time we have to play against Parma, who are doing very well. There is no time to enjoy anything. He then explained why Inter pressed Dortmund as they did.

“If you give space to Dortmund on the field, it’s suicide. We had chosen a particular area to press in. We knew we could not lose the ball in the middle of the park as they are devastating on the counter attack. They didn’t come at us as we thought they would. We were very good in all phases of the match, unlike against Sassuolo.”He then went on to praise his three midfielders for their performances.“We work a lot on the construction phase and all three of them played really important matches in both phases of the game. Brozovic sometimes finds himself out of position but today he, Barella and Gagliardini really done great against an opponent who are not easy to play against at all. It will be tough in Dortmund but we know we can play them.”
Next he spoke on 17-year-old Sebastiano Esposito, who came off the bench for his first appearance of the season and looked very lively.“I have said it several times, both in the media and also in the dressing room. He knows he has to keep his head down, but he trusts me completely. He is an important player for us. I am sorry for not being able to send him to the World Cup, but there is a reason for that, because I need him.”He concluded by talking on Nicolo Barella, who picked up yet another booking.“We are working on it. He scares me and I get anxious when he gets booked but there are players like him.”

He could have said "I was like him" but then again, he hardly ever received the bookings he deserved.

A result in the return leg is so fucking crucial. Conte better have his tactics right for that. We would have to attack a bit more there.

A total of 8 years of Mancini and Spalletti has tattooed into our brain that youngsters have no place at Inter.

Can that also be we had no money and had to use them as bargaining chips to get “better players” to get back into champions league? Mancini gets way way to much hate here but he built the team that later won the tremble. Mourniho bankrupted the team then left us out to dry but 90% here would prefer to blow him if you saw him on the street or had a Victoria secret model willing to do it to you

Conte: Inter must have 'Italian spirit'
By Football Italia staff

Antonio Conte has confirmed his faith in teenage striker Sebastiano Esposito and his desire for an Inter side with “an Italian spirit”.

Esposito impressed during his cameo against Borussia Dortmund, despite being just 17 years of age, and the starlet is expected to be given a new contract by Inter this summer.

“In attack, we started out with very specific ideas,” Conte said at a Press conference.

“We knew we had three attackers with certain characteristics in Lukaku, Sanchez and Lautaro, while Politano has characteristics not exactly suited to a striker, but he’d already played as one at Sassuolo.

“I ask for certain movements from my forwards. Esposito was fifth choice, so from this point of view we were calm.

“Since then, Sanchez’s injury has been a considerable loss for us, but we’ve cleared Esposito, who’d already done well over the summer. I’ll make market assessments with the club.

“We still have one training session to go and we must make a virtue of necessity, like we did in the Champions League.

“We’re trying to regain our energy after playing just two days ago. The fans against Dortmund were crucial. I hope they can give us a hand again tomorrow.”

The Nerazzurri signed several Italians over the summer, including Nicolo Barella, Stefano Sensi and Cristiano Biraghi, while Antonio Candreva has been drafted back in...

“The club’s objective is to focus on strong and reliable players, first and foremost. After that, it’s inevitable that Italian players provide you with immediate guarantees.

“They know our way of working. Us Italians are much more picky, tactical and work in more detail than they do abroad.

“For this, it’s important that we have an Italian spirit. After that, for example, I consider Handanovic Italian!”

Looking ahead to his side’s Serie A match with Parma tomorrow, the Coach was then asked about other facets of his squad.

“Sensi can also play in front of the defence. I prefer him further forward because he sees football, he knows how to make the last pass and scores goals.

“But Stefano can play in front of the defence too. Borja Valero can also fulfil that role.

"De Vrij’s become an important player for us, a bit like Bonucci. I’ve always said that the three centre-backs are the first to build play.

“Even Godin made an assist against Udinese. These are situations that we must keep practicing. We must do them even more insistently.

“I gave Pogba his debut just two months in and he was 18 years old. For me, young players are an added value, but they must give guarantees - and Esposito and Bastoni do for me.”

inb4 Politano is sold in January.
