Sure, I'd take Griezman in a straight swap for Lautaro.

Skriniar for Messi perhaps.

Messi won't be a Ronaldo. So it might be best to avoid such costly players who are about to retire.

The strategy is exactly this: Give the gobbo what he wants.

In my opinion Marotta won't put mega offer for players over 30. During his Juventus career he was really careful while buying new players and most of the old players he bought was free transfers or real bargains like Barzagli. As far as I know Marotta was against Ronaldo transfer due to his age. I think the only exception was Higuain, he was 28.5 when Juventus bought him and it wasn't best deal, he scored many important goals, but he didn't help Juventus to reach another level (Champions League) and he had to make space for Ronaldo just 2 years after his arrival.
So I think Vidal, Matić or Rakitić can arrive to Milan only on loan.
Another example is Dzeko, which is 33, and Marotta didn't want to put just few millions more on the table, because he knew that it's too much and it could block future transactions.

The other aspect is Inter's first squad age. Most of the core players are young (Lautaro, Sensi, Barella, Skriniar) or at their peek (Brozo, De Vrij, Lukaku). The only core player which is over 30 is Handanović. When it comes for Juventus it is difficult to find core player before 30 (Bonucci, Chiellini, Ronaldo, Higuain, Matuidi, Khedira, Cuadrado and Costa, Pjanić, Sandro, Szczęsny are almost 30). It looks better in Napoli, because they have young Ruiz or Zieliński, but their best players from previous seasons were Mertens, Callejon or Insigne and it is likely that Mertens and Callejon won't extend their contracts while Insigne is worse player than in Sarri era.

So I think it is crucial for our management to think about long term solutions, not temporary ones, because it seems that the gap between Juventus, Napoli and Inter will be even smaller in coming years and our money should be spent for players younger than 26 like in the summer mercato. Yep, we could run the risk and buy Dzeko, Vidal and Rakitić in the summer, we could win the Scudetto maybe, but what's next? In the next year we would be out of the money and we wouldn't be competitive for Juventus anymore. Juventus have more money, so our management has to have a strategy to win with them.

How is "getting your manager the player he needs and will use all the time" a bad thing? :/

Also, SMS should be ours with Gags swap in the process and because fate fucks us all the time, Gags will become massive in Lazio :D

It's a bad thing if the coach asks poor players like Lukaku (poor, in this context quality-value wise). Or Matic if the rumors are true.

What about Lazaro? Who asked for that cunt? I'm not sure he can even play football given how little we have seen of him. Either that or he simply does not have Conte's confidence and Candreva is caning Lazaro's arse.

We need one of Vidal, Rakitic or SMS in January. Like Diamen mentioned above, its unlikely Marotta will spend big money on Vidal or Rakitic, so it will depend on the will of the player and the club willing to let him go on a cheap. SMS could be an option if Inter make some sales (Gabigol, Politano, etc) or include Gagsy in the swap (Inzaghi is a fan from what I hear). But Lolito is not known to be reasonable, and I don't think SMS is worth close to what Lolito thinks he is. It will be tough, but we need a midfielder like those 3. Not Matic. Post that, next summer it will be great if we can get Tonali to complete our midfield.

We also need a striker in January, at least a vice-Lukaku if not someone who can rotate our front 2. If Milan are ready to cut their losses on Piatek, I still think he is a good option. Or if PSG want to seal the Icardi deal early, maybe we can offer a small discount if they include Cavani. Someone like Cavani would make Lukaku his bitch, even at this age.

If in January we are still within touching distance of Juve, I hope Inter reinforce big time. In this case I would also include a RWB. Maybe Meunier in that Icardi deal. So here is what I would like in January:

1. Vidal
2. Cavani + Meunier (plus money) for Icardi
3. Sell Politano, Gabigol, Valero, DiMarco and maybe even Lazaro if he is still performing like shit

I know, the above 3 are all experienced players - but we need some experience. Then next summer, we can focus on getting Tonali and a top young LWB.

You aim too high for a quality striker like Cavani arriving in January. Also the wages combined of Lukaku and Cavani :yao2:

I'm expecting someone like Petagna and maybe Rakitic (or Vidal) on loan with an obligation to buy. Or something similar to that. Not fantastic obviously and it probably won't put us over the top unless Juve completely self-destruct which I think unlikely. Their depth is still way too deep for us to truly push them to the end. In the summer, I expect Marotta and Ausilio to push hard for Chiesa and Tonali. Conte wants a young Italian Inter and the club has made no secret of their admiration of those two players.

Vidal and Rakitic doesn't seem reasonable acquisitions. They are old and Inter would preferably get them only on loan. Has Barcelona any incentive to do so? Maybe with Rakitic since he isn't used at all unlike Vidal who they need.

Actually buying either of them could be a potential catastrophe and would show we've learnt nothing from the past. I see Rakitic more potential not-catastrophe signing than Vidal given the age and play style. The cost might be still too significant to make it any sense however.

Conte's request.

Lukaku and Lazaro were his requests.
He also requested a central midfielder (one of SMS, Rakitic, Vidal,
or two in case we sold Vecino or Gagliardini).

Godin, Sensi and Barella were the management's signings.

Sanchez was about to join in July but we froze it because Conte didn't give his okay. Then the opportunity came back and he agreed on it.

Biraghi was also the management's choice but Conte gave vis approval. For Barella and Sensi we pretty much acted without his consent as we were following them for at least 2 seasons. Barella had agreed to move to Inter around 12 months ago anyway, we just had to meet the Cagliari expectations.

Eriksen is going to Spain.
Meunier and Cavani are the only interesting ones. Cavani may go back to Napoli. Mertens will probably stay there too.

Pass on Matuidi, Callejon and Fernandinho.

I'd go for Ilicic if he can come as a rotation choice on the cheap (think 2m annually).

One of Modric, Banega or Moutinho as well to "replace" Valero's roster spot. Modric obviously would be a starter for 60% of the games. Assuming he doesn't want more than 7m annually, he'd be a great 2 year deal player.

Just saw that Caligiuri is also expiring. Would pick him up for that RWB spot if we're still doing that shit.

Barella - Tonali - SMS midfield. Brozo and sensi backups. We would be set in that department for a very long time!!

Rakitic, Vidal ... Fuck this. One will be 32, one will be 34 next summer. They will earn a lot and/or a long contract.

We will be making some signings in the Winter Mercato for sure. It will either be that we are still in par with Juventus or we have our usual December syndrome and in yet another emergency trying not to lose Champs League spot.

All being said, I am hopeful this time the December syndrome won't repeat, unless injuries/fatigue ruin us.

We need 2 midfielders (at least 1), 1 striker at the very least. Wingback is another weak point for us but getting a player in that position would be a bonus.
