What a game by him. I was always defending him, I do not need anymore. Anyone saying a bad word for him now is just a ridiculous clown.

I defended Lukaku too, but let's not get overboard. Now we need another beast game from him against Barca, otherwise it's also his fault we didn't get out of the group.

Honestly looked like he was going to some how fluff that goal, not sure why he had to get it onto his left foot and kick it so hard lol. We shouldn't be hyping up this performance too much, he's our most expensive signing, this should be the bare minimum for him.

For those who look for silly comments, maybe if you paid attention to what was written and what you saw, you'd not be making them.

This was Lukaku's best game with us.

Not only because he scored and assisted. But because he reduced his mistakes. He didn't move back to cause us to lose the ball or disorient our attack, he just focused on being the main attacker.
He still had a couple of bad touches, some stupid runs where he was also pointing where he was moving which wasn't even an option since the passing lane was closed and other minute things and details. It's not that important as that's part of the game and his style. But "getting involved" is something he avoided last night and of course it paid off. With our midfield that was a guaranteed suicide as well given how we scraped some dumb errors at the back.

He was quite good with pass&run or one-two situations. In the first half I think it was Vecino that tried to move it wide instead of lob it forward to him and the attack was intercepted.

Now his goal was an unlucky moment from Slavia but at least he got that out of his system after being robbed of the first one. Hopefully that gives him confidence because that's the only way this guy operates. If he doesn't feel good, don't expect him to have a positive impact. He's not a game changer and we knew that. Which is part of the complaint for his huge price tag.

But this game mattered, Slavia was outplaying us all night long and Handanovic, the defence, Lautaro, Valero, Brozovic (improved a lot in the 2nd half) and Lukaku showed up. A good show of team character. Hopefully we keep this up.

It's not realistically to expect this kind of performance every game by Lukaku. I'll be happy if he contines using his body to bull the defenders and keeps his scoring rate, doesn't matter it's tap in or not. Judging by last two fixtures i think he had struggles getting in optimum shape due to overweight before.

Great game did what he had to and did not look as clumsy as he usually does. Imho he was our best player out there yesterday made very few mistakes and always was ready.

Also does anybody have a still pic of the offside on the last goal that was disallowed? DId not see a still pic and to me in the slowmo it really looked like he was onside.

Not sure which thread I should post, but:

Lukaku: 11 goals and 2 assists in 17 games
Lautaro: 11 goals and 3 assists in 18 games

They are becoming scary. For years to come :pazzini:

This reasoning is getting laughable. He may be our most expensive signing but isn't even close to what other players go for with his caliber.

I honestly hope he builds on this performance. Every game should be approached with the same mindset, this will elevate him to another level!

We get this best years (26-32) if we want them. Of course a lot can change fast in football, but let’s just be glad we have a young potentially world class strike partnership. If we can improve our midfield and wingbacks we will compete for trophies.

If someday Conte leaves us, we should consider to sell him because not many coaches out there know how to use this guy - and I think we can get more than the 65 we paid for him

Not sure about that. If Conte has helped him to improve his game ( using his body, off ball movement, etc.), that should be permanent unless if Lukaku is extremely dumb.

Check the goal scorers across europe, there are strikers doing more with less minutes and cost less than Lukaku. Immobile for example. Zapata is another. His striker partner cost a fraction but is certainly a better CF(even though stats don't support right now).

As well as there are many other players who cost more and aren't scoring as much. It's a ridiculous argument. Of course there will be always strikers in form.
Tell me two low cost strikers, who will have more goals than Lukaku at the end of the season in seria a. Can you say it right now ?

He's our guy and everyone here supports him, but please stop acting as if we signed someone with Ronaldo-Adriano-Drogba-Vieri characteristics all in one and at a discount... If you're wondering why there's this cycle of repeated arguments, this attitude is exactly the reason.

From who? I cant think of a single club who would consider him for 65, even for 40M.
