Stramma was lucky to have a cap like JZ4, manly players like Samuel, Cuchu, Milito, Cassano unlike later coaches who tried to play some football with chickens led by a pussy

We are not at the level of cult provided by Trap, Malesani and Gattuso in a strange land, but it's still gold.

Grande Strama.

He's settled very well in Iran. His team is now within one point of the first place and is playing the best football in the league. His is also deploying a Conte-style 3-5-2. However the financial situation is not the best for the Iranian clubs (in fact in the whole country due to the most severe sanctions by the US), so there is always a possibility for him to depart. If he continues like this, he can surely revive his career, at least in Asia where he can land a job in one of the Arabian or Chinese clubs that can offer him lucrative contracts.

He's going strong!

Another win for him today in front of a 70k crowd. First in the league though with one game more than the direct rivals.

Didn't he leave last month?
Now he has finally left.

Former Inter coach Andrea Stramaccioni has had his contract with Iranian side Esteghlal FC terminated due to ‘payment irregularities’.

Stramaccioni had been at the club since June this year and had led the side to first place in the Persian Gulf Pro League this season.

News agency Adnkronos report that the former Udinese boss has had his contract annulled due to repeated missed payments from the Iranian side.

The situation had been dragging on for several weeks and FIFA ruled he could terminate the contract.

The 43-year-old hasn’t managed in Serie A since June 2015, when he was sacked by Udinese after a season in charge.

Stramaccioni released a brief statement in which he said he "wants to return to to Italy soon."

Esteghlal fans protest Strama exit

Angry Esteghlal fans have taken to the Iranian capital of Tehran to protest against their club after Andrea Stramaccioni’s exit.

The Gazzetta dello Sport reports around 100 Esteghlal supporters descended upon the offices of Iran’s Ministry of Sport and Youth, which owns the club.

The matchday programme could even be affected because of a fear that the protests could turn into riots.

Stramaccioni terminated his contract yesterday because of missed payments but had been a popular figure, guiding the side top of the Persian Gulf Pro League.

However, FIFA ruled that the former Inter boss could tear up his contract, which did not expire until June 2022, due to payment issues.

La Gazzetta adds he left Tehran last night in a private jet but that his colleagues are still in the city.

The entire board has resigned, including President Amirhossein Fathi, although Esteghlal say they could bring the 43-year-old back on a new deal, despite his desire to return to Italy.

Stramaccioni: 'Could return to Iran'

Former Inter boss Andrea Stramaccioni says he “had no choice” but to leave Iranian side Esteghlal but has left the door open to a comeback.

Speaking to Sky Sport Italia, Stramaccioni admitted he was sorry to leave the club as fans took to the streets in Tehran to protest at the way their team treated the 43-year-old.

“There’s great bitterness at the way in which this journey has come to an end. It was a fascinating job, an adventure, different to anything I have experienced in my career before.”

It took the intervention of FIFA to settle the situation as the Esteghlal board blamed a decaying political situation in the country for their failure to pay Stramaccioni and his staff.

“We were forced to annul the contract. In the last few months the club, despite many failed promises, didn’t fulfill their obligations from a legal point of view.

“I regret this because the team are at the top of the table, where they hadn’t been for six years.

“Playing in stadiums with 100,000 people and playing in the Asian Champions League was beautiful.

“For me, it was a great honour to coach a team with such great fans and I am proud of my affection for them.”

Despite the bad blood between him and the board, which has since stepped down, the ex-Udinese coach suggested he could return on one condition.

“I would come back to Iran tomorrow if the problems were solved.”

Hameja abiyete!!!

They've really improved. Does Diabaté also remind you so much of Lukaku? Strama is really pulling a Conte with Esteghlal. So many similarities

Strama set for Esteghlal return?

Andrea Stramaccioni and Esteghlal are reportingly closing in on an agreement that will bring the Italian coach back to Tehran.

The former Inter boss terminated his contract because of missed payments, but Tuttomercatoweb claims those issues should be regularised shortly.

That is because, as per the website, an intervention from diplomats and an Italian bank are resolving the economic and bureaucratic problems that occurred earlier this month.

TMW suggests “the case is about to be closed” and the Roman could return to work in Iran after the controversial situation, culminating in a FIFA ruling to allow Stramaccioni to tear up his contract.

Esteghlal fans were angry about the situation and descended upon the offices of Iran’s Ministry of Sport and Youth, which owns the club, to help bring back the 43-year-old through protests.

The ex-Udinese coach had made a positive impact on the side, taking them top of the Iranian League.
