Tbh id give juve 5m and get mandzukic as CF backup. He is a cunt, but he can be valuable cunt. Always fights, can play few positions and can score. Wont mind the bench and will be cheap.

He would ask at least 5m€ salary. Also hasn't played at all this season?

That's what he earns now. I think he will agree on 2 years contract of 3.5-4 mils. As for him not playing, yeah that's a bit of an issue, but has happened before. We got Pandev that way :D

"Chelsea’s French international striker Olivier Giroud is close to departing Stamford Bridge, according to French sports news outlet, L’Equipe.

The report claims Inter Milan are in advanced talks with the 33-year-old over a move in January. The ex-Arsenal man has had little chance to impress this season, with Tammy Abraham, and Michy Batshuayi ahead of him in the pecking order in West-London.

A move to Inter would mean reuniting with former Blues boss Antonio Conte. The Italian was in charge at Stamford Bridge when Giroud moved across London for a fee of £18m in January 2017.

The Frenchman would still have a fight on his hands for first-team football, with the The Black and Blues having Romelu Lukaku, and Lautaro Martinez spearheading their attack. However, Conte plays them both as a front-two, in a 3-5-2 formation. So appearances from the bench would be very likely. A huge improvement on his current first-team opportunities at Chelsea."

The price is 7M , not 18M.

Why are we hoarding junk? Look at this guy's EPL record in the last 3 seasons:

2017-18 13 games 3 goals

2018-19 27 games 2 goals

2019-20 5 games 0 goals

We might as well sign Floccari who at least knows Serie A in and out.

Not a good prospect, but not a bad price too. A decent bench option that should prove useful in the Europa.

Yea 5 goals in 45 PL games for Chelsea is next level trash  Though he did score 11 in 14 in their EL winning campaign last season.

Recently his teams seem to focus on Giroud's link up play (which is good) rather than his finishing (which is ass). That's why he's still the first choice France #9 and played almost every minute of their 2018 World Cup despite having zero shots on target in 7 games.

Presumably he's being bought because he's cheap, available, and he fits the tactical plan. i.e. someone who can hold the ball up, bring others into play, win aerial duels etc. not because he's a great goalscorer.

I want Giroud here if we’re taking the EL seriously, since he can give both Lukaku and Lautaro breathing space. He would finally be the vice-Lukaku we were expecting all summer.

Then we have to bring Debuchy, too. Otherwise he may feel lonely at night:

So the 3 strikers Iv'e heard about are Lukaku, Llorente and Petagna

None of them are ideal, but if I had to choose then I'd obviously go with Giroud. Hopefully some other names pop up like Mertens again, but it seems like Conte has a type of striker in mind, which is big, tall and slow so we probably won't be getting someone else.

I briefly watched SPAL play the other week (and then thought to myself "Where the fuck did I go wrong in my life to watching some shitty Italian football minnow during one of my rare days off?) and Petagna looks more like a fat American baseball pitcher than he does a footballer. He definitely enjoys the finer foods and drinks in life by the looks of him. Conte and his team already have their hands full with Lukaku

Also costs like 3x more. It's all about what kind of contract Giroud accepts and how well we can negotiate with Marina. I really doubt we're going after Petagna.

The cost may be slightly higher but the overall value would be better.

With Giroud the hope is that he will give you higher quality in the first months which will prove crucial for our future but after that he becomes a liability with a big fat contract until 2021 the earliest and 2022 the most expected one.

With Petagna you get a Serie A ready player who will come to play a role, can be a starter in "small" games and if things go sour, you can use as a transfer piece in a deal revolving an Italian club. And his salary would be much lower than Giroud's expected one.

Business wise it makes more sense for Petagna. If the management rate Giroud as a massive jump in quality from Petagna in the short run, which I don't really see myself, then that's the main driver for what seems like yet another unnecessary transfer move.
