Zaniolo has shown much more than Tonali in Serie A. But like said, Zaniolo's problem is his ACL injury. Worst time to sell the player with ACL + COVID19. :D

Agree, I was factoring that in.

I find it hard to believe we are interested in a player that doesn't fit Conte formation.

The only rationale could be if Conte is considering using his Chelsea style 3-4-3 at Inter. Which means using Lautaro/Zaniolo & Eriksen/Sensi behind Lukaku. Zaniolo is young and Italian, and if he can be bought at a reasonable price (due to the 15% discount + Nainggolan, a player that Inter consider surplus), that could explain this a little bit.

Even then, I would prefer a support striker or inverted winger who scores more regularly than Zaniolo. I really doubt there is any truth in this rumour.

On a different note, if we end up with Barella, Sensi, Bastoni, Tonali, Zaniolo and Chiesa, Mancini will have to attend all our games.

It would be nice to bring him back but it does have many red flags currently.

It would make sense if it were 3-4-2-1 with Eriksen and Zaniolo behind Lukaku or vice-Lukaku.
It would also put to use many midfielders, could exploit Sensi there as well.

Albeit I am a big fan of SMS, having tonali on top of sensi, barella, brozovic and eriksen is just stupid good. Hopefully we adopt a system where we can accommodate at least 4 of them, because that midfield is jizz worthy.

I would love SMS, but where would you fit him?

In reality centrally we have a decent depth and quality, its the wide positions we need to focus on.

As much as I like SMS, Pellegrini from Roma would be better value. 30 M in 2 payments is an absolute steal for a player of his immense quality already.

It's interesting who will be starters for three CM spots. Most likely: Erikssen behind Brozo and Barella. But if Tonali comes he should play as much as possible imo, there's also "IL Mago" Sensi whom I'd like to see as a sure starter if he's healthy. I guess we're updating our bench in a good way.

Agree. However, but he is a romanista, born in Rome and raised by their academy. He already rejected us once, as he seems to want to continue the legacy of Totti and De Rossi, being captain and having a comfortable starting spot guaranteed. So even if a club pays his release clause, he still has the right to refuse any other contract. I like the player but why would you want to force signing someone who doesn`t want to be here? Just look at how Nainggolan turned out...

After Tonali and the return of Nainggolan, we have enough depth and quality in the central positions that can be rotated through. We need wide players in R/L Mids, Wingbacks and Fullbacks that can either play all three or a mixture of both.

Otherwise how will Szobslai fit with the formation, and its another good player that needs playing time.

ANSA writing that Marcos Alonso might leave Chelsea for Newcastle.

FcInterNews [IT] quotes spanish papers Onda Cero & AS both linking us to Achraf Hakimi. The report goes on to explain that despite all Hakimi has done whilst on loan at Borussia Dortmund he has not convinced Zinedine Zidane to offer him the starting spot and Real Madrid want €60 million for him. If nobody meets that asking price he will not be sold. Bayern Munich, Man Utd & BVB are also following. Sport [ES] claim that Man City have also joined the race to sign Hakimi.

I don`t exactly trust these sources, so it might be just creative journalism... Back in May, GdS wrote that we are interested in him, however shortly after Achraf Hakimi’s agent Alejandro Camano has stated that Inter have not made any offer (which was most probaby true back then).

Corriere dello Sport: Inter tried to sign Achraf Hakimi two Summers ago.
The Moroccan full back was pivotal in Borussia Dortmund’s comeback victory against the Nerazzurri as he scored a brace and caused problems all night for Inter’s defence but things could have been completely different. As Inter struggled to agree terms with Atletico Madrid over Sime Vrsaljko, the Nerazzurri management then began scouting around for other options and made an enquiry to Real Madrid for Hakimi, who was just 20-years-old at the time.

Then Inter manager Luciano Spalletti however stressed he wanted a more experienced and ready player to Hakimi, who caught Inter’s attention with his performances in the youth ranks of Real Madrid. In the end, Inter managed to reach a deal with Atletico Madrid over Vrsaljko which allowed Dortmund to swoop in and land Hakimi on a two year loan deal.

As for left wing back, the report from GdS newspaper goes on to explain that Inter are interested in Chelsea’s Emerson Palmieri and Barcelona’s Junior Firpo.

* EDIT: FCInterNews.it reported Achraf Hakimi’s agent Alejandro Camano has admitted he has no ideas where rumours linking his client with a potential move to Inter have come from.

“I have no idea where these rumours come from. At Inter I look after the interests of Borja Valero. I was also the representative of Hector Cuper who had almost three beautiful years at the Nerazzurri. I also love Inter but the truth is that I have never talked about Hakimi with them. I don’t know what the Madrid press can write. Today I woke up and read that this or that club are in for the player but I repeat, all of this is not true.”

Sport Mediaset: Inter have made an enquiry to Real Madrid regarding highly rated full back Achraf Hakimi

As per the report, Inter have enquired about taking the Moroccan national team defender on loan but the report does not provide any more detail than that on the enquiry.

Loan with option to buy at 55m? :D

If Hakimi is available we will have fierce competition. All the EPL billionares and drooling Leonardo & P$G will be after him. But one can dream.

A massive advantage we could have for Hakimi is that no one else plays 3atb and if he prefers to be deployed as a wing back instead of a full back then he might end up picking us

Nowadays I am watching a lot of Bundesliga and I have to say that Kostic is a perfect wingback. Pace, crosses, technique, dribbling, shoot from outside the box, set pieces, stamina, he has it all. Unfortunately there are no rumors linking us with him.

I believe you were looking for this thread: http://forzainterforums.com/showthread.php?706-Player-Suggestions

Chelsea defender Emerson Palmieri’s agent Fernando Garcia has denied that there are any negotiations currently taking place with Inter.
Emerson has found himself linked with a move to the Nerazzurri for a good few months now ahead of the upcoming transfer window.“Mancini hopes that Emerson will return to Serie A to play more? I can’t speak for him,” Garcia remarked in an interview with Italian news outlet FCInterNews.Next he spoke on the interest from Inter and sang the praises of both the club and manager Antonio Conte.

“There is nothing official with Inter, but we are certainly talking about a great club and Conte is a top manager.”He was then asked about the kind of price any interested clubs could expect to pay for the Brazilian born Italian national team full back.“I haven’t consulted Chelsea, so I don’t know how much they could ask for the player’s card, I could only do it in front of an official proposal.”

Defense isn't one of his strengths but it's decent for the wingback role. Kostic is one of the many players who are in-between. He doesn't have the end product to be a winger at a top league but he's also too attacking to be a fullback. Therefore, the wingback role fits him perfectly. For me Kostic is perfect for our left wingback position. There are two issues with him though. Frankfurt will probably ask for 30-35m and once we switch to a back 4 he will be of no use. Is it worth spending so much on a player who would have no future at Inter when Conte leaves? And the same goes for Alonso.

This. It's the same reason why the talks about selling Skriniar because he doesn't fit into Conte's back 3 is asinine. There's a zero percent chance Conte is still the manager here by 2024. Skriniar could be captain by that time. Stop sacrificing the long-term for the short-term, it's how we got into this mess.

I actually disagree with this. Inter decided to make Conte coach knowing fully well that it will need a squad overhaul. We have already committed 100s of millions on this Conte project. It would be absolutely MORONIC to fuck this project up and not buy 2 quality wingbacks just coz they might not be as useful for the next coach in 2024.

We got into this mess BECAUSE we never had the will or patience to follow through on a project. This time with the sheer amount of money we have already committed on this Conte project, we need to follow through and see how far this project can go. Of course we should keep an eye out for the future (hence Barella, Sensi, Bastoni, etc), but more importantly we need to commit to the present. And right now that means buying the best fucking wingbacks we can afford, coz we ain't winning shite with Candreva and Young as our first choice wingbacks. So I afraid I have to disagree with you here.

If we go fully Conte way we pass on Tonali and sign Vidal. For example.

After Conte it's going to be Simeone's turn. So wingbacks would be of use as side mids in 4-4-2 :hopeful:
