Inter goalkeeping picture becomes clearer

Andrei Radu looks to be the favourite to backup Samir Handanovic next season at Inter as Udinese’s asking price for Juan Musso is too steep.

The Slovenian has shown no signs of slowing down thanks to another strong season for the Nerazzurri, but the Milan giants are aware that a succession plan must be put in place for the 35-year-old.

Calciomercato.com reports the most likely scenario is Radu will be brought back at the end of the season once his loan at Parma is over in order to serve as Handanovic’s understudy.

The 22-year-old has risen through the Inter youth ranks, and his strong play at Genoa earlier this season prior to the arrival of Mattia Perin has convinced management of his abilities.

Another factor helping Radu’s cause is the costs related to a move for Udinese’s Musso.

The Friulani have slapped a €30 million price tag on the Argentine, a fee the Nerazzurri feel is too steep at this time.

Milan are also in the mix for Musso should Gianluigi Donnarumma leave the club at the end of the season.

As for the position of third goalkeeper at Inter, it’s believed Daniele Padelli will be handed a new contract and take over the role from Tommaso Berni.

Argentine Media Claim Udinese’s Juan Musso On The Verge Of Signing For Inter
Juan Musso is one step away from becoming an Inter player, at least according to a report from Argentine broadcaster TyC Sports, which was aired a short time ago.Udinese are considering the possibility of immediately selling Musso to Inter, so much so that they have already identified a replacement for him in Boca Juniors’ Agustin Rossi.Talks between Udinese and the Superliga Argentina side are already underway for Rossi, who is currently out on loan at Lanus, and the report goes on to add that much will depend on Musso’s transfer. It goes on to explain that Udinese are confident that they will receive €35 million for Musso, which is the value of the release clause in his contract with them.

Don't know about Udinese but i'm pretty confident that Marrotta won't spend 35mln for Musso.

As long as Dollarumma doesn't sign a new contract with Milan, I doubt we will make a move for a GK.

Corriere dello Sport: Inter really like Musso, who has a €35 million release clause in his contract with the Bianconeri club. The report goes on to explain that Inter do not wish to spend as much as that on a back-up goalkeeper and would be willing to offer somewhere in the region of €20 million instead.

Conte likes Sepe as backup goalkeeper. Sure we could keep Radu as back-up but that would hinder his development.

Granada's Rui Silva seems quite good for future and i believe the price is not too high at the moment.

According to Sky, Andrei Radu will be Inter backup GK for next season as Udinese 25m demands for Musso were deemed too high. Daniele Padelli will stay at the club as the third GK.

25m for Musso is indeed a bit much. I hope Radu can give Handanovic some competition, he’s quite elastic and has excellent reflexes, bit still lacks in stuff like organising the defense and positioning.

25m for Musso is not too much, but for our 2nd choice it is.

He's a far better GK than Kepa or Onana that Chelsea was paying triple and double that amount.

Yeah, we cannot spend 25m€ for Musso yet. Picking Radu for next season is the easy one. He's free and we can check how he copes with Inter pressure. If he doesn't cope it, we go for Musso or equivalent next summer and they ride Juve-style for 21/22 season. If Radu copes it, he stays and be the understudy of Handa for maybe yet another season and be given even more games.

If there is smth i am not worried is the ability of Inter to sign a proper GK.
For as long as i remember i don't think we ever had a GK who was not top 10 globally. Maybe only Frey..

from the few matches I've seen Musso play, 25m seems like a very fair price. He seems really fucking good

This, and rightfully so to be fair. He is the future of Italian goalkeeping, and if there was even a minor chance of him becoming Nerrazzuro we should go ahead and try. Best case scenario would be him signing for free next year with Handanovic leaving us.
Otherwise I would like us to try and go for Musso, he also seems to be a very talented keeper. But he should be someone we should aim for next season, as goalkeeper position shouldn't be our highest priority.

There is first time for everything.

I don't know who is that Musso guy but he is 26 with just 1 app. for Argentina and recently they have the worst keepers I have ever seen.

Radu is fine for next season then I think we need to actual look for a Handanovic replacement and spend real money on a starter instead of 25 million on a back up

I wonder why we don't try to go for strakosha? I guess the price will be out of our budget
radu is very frustrating to see, he likes to stay in his line a lot, including during one on one. If he is our main gk in 2021-2022 years I would be very worry

Radu is the perfect choice. Nowadays clubs have quality second goalkeeper to rotate and provide competition. We should stop using the Carrizos and the Padellis as second choice.

I thought frey was good back in the day too but yes, maybe him.

Donnaruma was an inter fan after all wasn't he? Would be great if we could get him on a free. Are Milan trying to extend his contract?

People forget Donnarumma is 21 years old because he's been a Serie A regular since he was 16. Seriously, he's younger than Radu. If he's available it's a no brainer. Unfortunately his wages are too high and there's no point in forcing Handanovic out.

Padelli staying on as the third keeper makes a lot of sense.
