I will say though, over the season, Arteta has really showed that Pep was right; he's got a really sharp tactical mind. Will be interesting to see if he can balance that with the consistency required to compete.

Arsenal have actually been pretty good. This is the most I’ve seen from Pepe.

Maybe Arteta can surprise a few people next season with some investment.

However with that being said a soft penalty and harsh Kovacic red card heavily changed this game.

Has any non-British top player signing ever work out for Manchester United?

- Juan Sebastian Veron. From someone that was Zidane's challenger in Serie A for best midfielder to a Manchester "flop".
- Angel Di Maria. An overrated player all in all, but a quality one nonetheless. He was considered the worst signing of the signing.
- Alexis Sanchez. A world class player that everyone in the world wanted, ended up at Man Utd and now they claim he's the worst signing of the club's history.
- Paul Pogba. If we can put him here, he was underwhelming for a few seasons and still isn't reall doing that much to defend the investment made in him.

You can argue Robin Van Persie but he was a step below, while Van der Sar moved from Fulham and not at the height of his career. Even Juan Mata failed to make an impact.

Most top names from Man Utd are mostly made there. Apart from the Ferguson guys (Scholes, Giggs, Beckham etc), most other top names became top names there, such as Schmeichel, Van Nistelrooy, Stam, Cristiano Ronaldo, Vidic...

Park Ji Sung was great, but I believe he became great there. There is a case for Tevez being a top player already at West Ham.

Cou to Arsenal is a saga that repeats every summer. This year Barca wants 85 million and I kinda doubt Arsenal will pay that much for a player when they clearly also need to spend for defenders.
