Cost reduction tbh. On a cost basis, Godin is more xpensive annually than de vrij, skriniar (if extended), bastoni, brozovic, sensi, and if we extend barella. Only Eriksen, Hakimi, Lukaku, Lautaro and Vecino :yao: are more expensive (ignoring JM/9gag/etc).

He's not the 5th/6th best player in the team tbh.

Ranocchia played 12 games this season, I wouldnt get too into him tbh - 887 minutes we can replace.

And, yeah, I think Broz/Vidal is a realistic sale - with Broz out we should get good plusvalenza (and hopefully deals close for Perisic, Asamoah, etc which help too) - which then means we have a bit more cash to look at investing

The Darmian story

Our entire mercato lately has just been signing "vice" somethings.
Precisely. So what`s wrong with adding squad depth on a cheap? It has been proven how injuries affected us during the season. We are playing 3 competitions, at least (hopefully no Europa League any more).

Gazzetta indeed reports we will sign Darmian for 5mil... so maybe we will sell Candreva, use D’Ambro as vice-Hakimi, while Darmian is the sub for right DC.
Inter are reportedly on the verge of signing Matteo Darmain from Parma, reaching an agreement at €2m. Other source reported 2.5m.

Oh man. This Darmian thing is apparently a gentlemen agreement. Not sure why. Maybe because they bought Karamoh from us? Why we stack defenders like this? Is Darmian the Ranocchia replacement then if Rano leaves for Genoa (for free, obviously) ?

And 5m€ sounds like a horrible overprice for Darmian.

Marotta wanted him for years (Italian NT, hard working, not complaining and durable). When he asked Man Utd about his price, they asked for €10m just because we are Inter. Don`t forget Man Utd overpayed €18m for Darmian when signed from Torino. So we told Parma about this last year, then Parma went on to sign him for €2.48m and got him fit for 1 year. I believe we should get him well under €5m, rather towards 2.5.

Serie A: 33 matches, 1 goal and 1 assist.

Wouldn't mind Darmian for 2.5mln if we are able to get rid of Candreva or Asamoah. As far as recall he was quite versatile.

We currently have Hakimi, Candreva and D'Ambrosio for the RWB spot. Even if we manage to get rid of Candreva (good luck with that, who the fuck is going to buy him?), what is the fucking point of Darmian? I understand he can also cover RCB and LWB positions, but he is very average in all those roles. Don't we have enough average fullbacks already?

The only good thing about this deal is that I don’t have to see Darmian rumor ever again.

Don't see the harm in the deal. Backup on both flanks and we can sell off Candreva. All you debbie downers make it sound like you're spending your own money lol.

That's hilarious in a sick way. Kind of like saying you don't need to worry about getting cancer if you already have cancer.

Darmian is just a shit D'Ambrosio. As I was saying to Fitzy earlier, it infuriates me that we're wasting valuable money, time and squad registration on a worse version of an already-average player.

I understand the cost-cutting aspect of our business. But we're at a point where we're trying to improve upon a squad that reached EL finals and 2nd in the league - we're looking to take that next step and win.

You increase the quality of your squad by keeping your best players and adding more good players. That puts pressure from the top down. We can either replace our starters with higher quality players e.g. Hakimi for Candreva, or possibly Kante for Brozovic. We can also bring in more competitive squad players. For example, introducing Vidal and Nainggolan into the squad should result in squeezing out the weaker backups like Vecino, Valero and Gagliardini, while keeping the pressure on our starters to earn their spots every week.

What we're doing though, with our recent transfer business, is merely diluting the pool of mediocrity with more fetid, mediocrity. It'd be like buying Poli or something. He wouldn't remotely improve our midfield - he would only be adding further depth to the layers of shit.

May as well buy more fucking Gagliardini's. How about Caceres, Ekdal, Sturaro and De Silvestri? How about Hysaj? Maybe we can do a double deal wit hRoma for Santon and Fazio?

Inter's long list of mediocre fullbacks over the last two decades of course surely can't be complete without Darmian.

According to Sky, Inter have stopped everything for Kumbulla and Lazio are back in the race.

Why aren’t we going after Reguilon? Does not make sense to go after Emerson or Darmian when Reguilon is going back to Real to be on the bench under Marcelo/Mendy?

After Hakimi, i had dreams of grandeur again.

Being linked to Gosens, Sarr and Kumbulla I had some hope it seemed like we were being smart and targeting the right players. Now, we miss Tonali, sign Kolarov and Vidal and looking to sell quality in Godin/Eriksen/Skrniar. #FML
