A thread for all the leagues that don't have a thread of their own because they would likely not have enough posts to justify one.

the opener is for the very brillant aziz couple:

Derby training ground 'spy': Leeds boss Marcelo Bielsa takes responsibility

Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa says he takes responsibility for a member of staff seen acting suspiciously outside Derby County's training ground on Thursday.

The Championship leaders host sixth-placed Derby on Friday night.

Before kick-off at Elland Road, Bielsa said: "It's true there was someone from Leeds United. The responsibility for this lies with me. I'm responsible."

The Football Association says it is investigating the incident.

Derbyshire Police said officers were called to Derby's training ground on Thursday morning and a man was spoken to at the perimeter fence, but no arrests were made.

The statement added: "Officers conducted routine checks which were all above board. Despite media reports, no damage to the fence was found, and the man was stopped outside the grounds."

Bielsa added in an interview with Sky Sports: "Yesterday I talked to Frank Lampard and he told me I didn't respect the fair play rules.

"I have a different point of view but the important thing is what Frank Lampard and Derby County think. I didn't ask permission from Leeds United to do it so it's my responsibility.

"Without trying to find a justification, I've been using this kind of practice since the qualifications for the World Cup with Argentina."

Rams boss Lampard also spoke before the game to give his view on the situation.

"At least, on a sportsman's level, it's bad in my opinion," he told Sky Sports.

"If we're going to start talking about 'culturally, I did it somewhere else' - that doesn't work for me.

"If I'm lucky enough to do well and travel to another country I'll find out what the etiquette is in that country and abide by that.

"It's disrupted our build-up to this game. People are going to say I'm trying to make an excuse - but I'm going to speak like this after the game win, lose or draw."

An English Football League spokesman told the BBC: "It is, of course, up to Derby County as to how they progress this matter but as of yet we have received no complaint or contact from the club."

'It's not a big issue'
Speaking at his news conference on Friday, Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino insisted the incident was not "a big deal".

The 46-year-old played under Leeds boss Bielsa at Newell's Old Boys, Espanyol and for Argentina and said the practice of watching opponents train has regularly been used in his homeland.

"I played for him I learned a lot from him - the good and not so good," Pochettino said.

"There is nothing wrong to try and find information and know a bit more about what the opponents are doing. That happened 30 years ago in Argentina. Not only Marcelo, all the managers were like this.

"Here maybe it is a little bit weird but in Argentina it happened. It is not a big issue or a big deal."

Just for the record, Leeds beat Derby 2-0.

For the first time in I don't know how many years, there are many title contenders in Scotland.

Celtic and rangers are pair on points, but the former has a game in hand.

Kilmarnock and Aberdeen sit only 1 and 3 points behind respectively.

And maybe we can also include in the fight for the title the Heart of Midlothian (6 points behind), the club for which I have a soft spot because I worked in Edinburgh so many years ago. :)

Fuck the jambo's.

But yeah this has been the most competitive season since the huns got relegated. My team (livingston) have done really well imo, for a team who was in administration just over a decade ago and are doing well, this season we've bet Rangers and fucked hearts 5-0, a massive surprise considering our manager left just before the season started.

I am beginning to think you don't like the Hearts :eek:blivious:

Anyways, I hope in the long run it doesn't end up being celtic Vs rangers, which appears likely

Well the split between the leagues will be happening soon. Hopefully that doesn't mean the old firm just run away with it again though. For anyone who doesnt know what i'm talking about in regards to the split, heres a basic over view of what i mean by it.

A season, which runs from August until May, is divided into two phases. During the first phase, each club plays three games against every other team, either once at home and twice away or vice versa. After this first phase of matches, by which time all clubs have played 33 games, the league splits into two halves - a 'top six' section and a 'bottom six' section. Each club proceeds to play a further five matches, one against each of the other five teams in their own section. Points achieved during the first phase of 33 matches are carried forward to the second phase, but the teams compete only within their own sections during the second phase. After the first phase is completed, clubs cannot move out of their own half in the league, even if they achieve more or fewer points than a higher or lower ranked team, respectively.

At the beginning of each season, the SPFL 'predicts' the likely positions of each club in order to produce a fixture schedule that ensures the best possible chance of all clubs playing each other twice at home and twice away. This is known as the league seeding and is based on clubs' performance in the previous season. If the clubs do not finish in the half where they are predicted to finish, then anomalies can be created in the fixture list. Clubs sometimes play another three times at home and once away (or vice versa), or a club can end up playing 20 home (or away) games in a season

It's from the wiki but it looks accurate

a fire in the training center of flamengo has caused the death of at least 10 people. the news are very vague at the moment (including the number of casualties, which may increase), it seems that (but it has to be confirmed) that the dead are players from one of the club's junior teams. source: gazzetta.it, couldn't find an english article at the moment.

update: the local police seem to have confirmed that all the victims are between the age of 14 and 17.

Apparently they were sleeping in accommodation there when it occurred. Silver lining is that some likely didn't feel anything when it happened

PAOK Thessaloniki are champions of greece for the third time in their history. it's also the first time since 1988 that the title goes to a team which isn't from athens.

a piece of trivia: their coach is Razvan Lucescu, the son of mircea, Inter coach for around 4 months in 1998/99.

Ajax signed a young GK called Kjell Scherpen. He had made several posts at a younger age against Ajax, him being a Feyenoord fan.

In order to sign a contract with Ajax, he had to write 1,000 times that Ajax is the biggest team in Holland. Van der Sar and Overmars were making sure he wasn't cheating.

Not only when he was younger, he said it this summer before the start of the Eredivisie. Stupid things to say as a player.

what a fucken stupid thing to do. A stupid media stunt to get the fans on board with the signing. Instead of holding the ajax flag high by not signing a player that publicly insulted them they make this ridiculous stunt to appease fans.

Imho it s pretty poor from both ajax and from Scherpen but then again thats just me.

Also firmino i think your thinking of zaniolo

And they are doing it again. Ajax will sign a right back from Utrecht which said several times in interviews players from FC Utrecht shouldn't go to Ajax due to the rivalry. He would prefer to go to Feyenoord or PSV. He even took a shirt from his teammate 2 years ago which swapped his shirt with Ziyech. It's a f*cking disgrace to see these kind of players sign a contract with Ajax.

Alderweireld said in a interview a couple of years ago: Everybody acts like they hate Ajax but when they can sign a contract with us they will even cycle to Amsterdam and sign the contract. And that's how it is, but it's blasphemy to see this kind of fools in the shirt of Ajax.
