It's to make money. Football is business these days and the clubs need to make money. They have recognized that creating a global brand is the approach they should go for to make money. And changing logo is nothing new for Inter, it has been done many times during the history like we all know.
It was changed, yes, but not distorted.
The only 'big' change that happened is the logo which stayed for over 3 seasons is the one I have as an avatar. But that's a cute one
at:We had our initial logo for the vast majority of our history and that includes the Mussolini era!
If this decision had anything to do with Inter buying Olimpia Milano and renaming it "Inter" or starting a volleyball or rugby side, I'd fully support the move [even if Barcelona never did that for example]. But this is plain idiotic and has nothing do to with making money. Thus far it has just cost us money that could have gone to the employees' salaries or at least a better marketing concept.
Everyone in the world knows Inter, everyone at any age knows our crest because it is rather unique and now we have a generic one that a clothing brand would have. Or freaking Icardi actually has had for some time now
We all know that we live in days where kids pick team their international teams from video games or from an occasional big CL game and then solidifying that with finding some sports material they whine to their parents to buy them because it's the team they like. Inter had that effect, the colors, the badge and all that. People still became fans due to those things, despite the lack of sporting success.
There's of course those who pick teams at a teen age, but personally I don't have as much respect for them, too much peer pressure usually and they tend to become rather toxic, typically because supporting the club was enforced by them at an age where they could have had made a different choice and they carry that regret subconsciously, or they're just bandwagoners and when the choo choo train doesn't make any stops at a title carrying shop, they whine a lot. But that's just an observation I've made over the years with a large amount of people, based on at least 5 different leagues and two different sports. Kids who pick their team before they're around 11 tend to be far more loyal to their side, whether it was their decision, a parent/uncle or whatever. And with this change we're targeting people who are teens or in their 20s, because the whole concept revolves around selling a bunch of garbage apparel that are unrelated to the club. And we're ignoring the potential core of our fanbase which is the young kids. To what extent you make more [young] fans through winning or through your club's identity is not something I can answer. We do have a lot of people here that became fans those days, but check again how many really stuck around? The ones that did were probably kids during those days.
You're right, this is about money. It's about selling Inter material to non-fans. I'm asking you: At what cost?
