I'm not sure how I feel about the Super League.

What I do know, though, is that I'm absolutely livid that our Scudetto season is being overshadowed by the timing of all this.

Don't you think our scudetto seasons has already been overshadowed by the empty stands and us getting knocked in the group stages of the CL?

Meanwhile in Russia ,Nikolay Grammatikov (the president of the Russian Union of players and coaches) said that ''Regionally, we have the chance to form a league like the European Super League. We can establish a new league as Eastern and Southern European teams, Russian teams and Turkish teams.''

Imagine that !

Dinamo Zagreb, Hajduk Split ,Crvena Zvezda, Partizan ,Dinamo Bucureşti ,Steau Bucureşti ,CSKA Sofia ,Levski Sofia ,Dynamo Kyiv ,Shakhtar Donets ,Zenit ,Dinamo Moskva ,Lokomotiv Moskva ,CSKA Moskva ,AEK ,Olympiakos ,Panathinaikos ,PAOK ,Beşiktaş ,Fenerbahçe ,Galatasaray ,Trabzonspor and many others...All in one !

Everyone hates each other ,everyone wants to kill each other. Ultra nationalism ,brutal hooliganism ,numerous street fights. Hell yeah !

Sounds like Green Street Hooligans becomes an endless TV drama

This is the league what I wanna watch instead of western european pussy football.

I'm the littlefinger from GoT who loves CHAOS :awyeah:

I don't disagree with that assessment. The economic impact would reverberate around football for years to come. But a counterpoint; this is merely a sign that football is in an economic bubble. So what's better - wait for it to burst, or burst it on purpose and take control of the fallout?

Right now I don't care about sensibility, logic or protecting the longevity of the CL. Burn it. Destroy it. Teach the world a lesson. Actions have consequences. If the selfishness of 12 clubs destroys the entire Champions League, even if the Super League never takes off, let it be a lesson. The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few.

I thought I would feel rage for a few hours on Sunday, go to sleep, and wake up calmed down.

Not this time.

It doesn't matter if this is merely a power play to bend UEFA to structure the Champions League in a way that better suits the club. The fact they believed this was an acceptable course of action as a negotiating tactic – if that is indeed what this is, rather than a sincere attempt to break away from CL and Serie A – speaks volumes.

That raises the question – why am I even still here? Why am I bitching about Inter's greatest betrayal on an Inter forum? If this club is dead to me, why am I here, shouting into the void?

I need this. It is the emotional release of a funeral; acknowledging the entity you once knew is dead. I grew up admiring the respect, professionalism, and integrity of Il Capitano. All of that is now gone. I am angry. I stand here because I want to watch it fall apart. I want to watch it crumble. I want to watch Inter die. There is nothing human left in this club – only the soulless, corporate husk of profiteering. This is the reality of a zombie scenario; it does not matter if the person coming towards you was once the one you loved. You must neutralise them before they eat you alive and make them one of you.

I respect you as one of the OG's but don't you think you are overreacting? Inter is creating a league where we will be part owners, we are not starting a war or endorsing racism.

Also how is this a sign of a bubble...

You said the 12 teams generate most of the reveune, so I asked which ones. Because it surely isn't Inter, Milan or Arsenal.

Is FIFA and UEFA corrupt? Yes. Should things be changed? Ofcourse. Is a closed league the answer? Hell no.

look at the ratings when the ties are between big teams and between subpar non big 12 teams.

Time to start learning how baseball works. Any good teams to support out there? Are Red Sox any good this year?

yes baseball is precisely the type of sport you watch if you want to walk away from the notion of superteams, non relegation and where losing is even subsidised.

also they def do not have feeder minor league teams from whom they leech talent.

I think it depends ultimately on what you consider the important dimensions of football. For me, I put success and trophies second. We exist in a system where financial and commercial success is proportional to on-field success. But to focus on this as the principle of football is to completely waste its important role in society; it can be used as a form of social cohesion, a way to bring communities together and to empower people to do better in their lives. The amount of money flowing through large clubs (generally speaking, Suning being broke af aside) is insane – I prefer these profits are reinvested into local communities to improve the opportunities and quality of life of those who have poured money in to begin with by buying tickets, merchandise, etc; those who give the club the gift of their time, attention and disposable income to the clubs.

I don't go to Asda because I have supported a supermarket brand all my life; I go there because the prices of food are decent and it's the closest large supermarket to my house. I buy my DIY stuff from Screwfix because it's decently priced and, again, it's conveniently located to where I live. This is how consumer choices work when dealing with a for-profit entity selling you something. If I supported my football club in the same way, I'd be a Hearts fan, but that's not how football works – I have no emotional connection to this team. This is not what football should be about; it should be about a reciprocal relationship between those who are loyal to the club and derive positive outcomes – whether that's employment as a player, a staff member, a community group supported by the club, or just a fan who experiences joy when their team wins a match – and not a corporation–consumer relationship. Which is what the European Super League is meant to be by design.

Yes, Inter will own part of the organization. But that organization exists to deliver profit for wealthy investors who could afford to invest in the first place. It creates a system where hundreds of other clubs cannot even attempt to build the systems I have described above. They cannot thrive, they cannot survive, they cannot support their local communities. And that is a huge act of selfishness on the part of these three Serie A clubs.

On the bubble part – clubs are too dependent on European income. The economic models of football are broken – look at Perez at RM and how he says they need ESL because they can't generate enough revenue to sustain themselves without it. If your economic model depends on generating €350m/season through competing in Europe, you are spending too much money, end of. It's a bubble. Wages, transfer fees, they've both grown exponentially to insane levels, well above national inflation rates. And this is driven by TV rights, for which contract values are too high, driven by a bidding war that won't be repeated.

Football needs a reset. Hopefully this can be the catalyst.

Football clubs are not supposed to do what the duty of a local council/government is.

I am not sure how this relates to your first point, if you spend money on Inter, would not that mean that Inter would need to re-invest money in communities in Milano? I mean, if it is such a local, community thing.

And that is a huge act of selfishness on the part of these three Serie A clubs.

again, I am sorry that you are under the impression that this was not the case already. Also, if a region is so impacted by a football team, perhaps they need some advise on policy. The local football team is not some manufacturing plant upon which lifes depend.

On the bubble part – clubs are too dependent on European income. Your second part explains your first part, the tv rights grew, commercial revenue grew, income from tickets grew, it is only natural that the wages grow as well. Valuations are a tad tricky for sport clubs, so I would not think on this too much.

Perez is right when he says that CL is only interesting at the quarter finals. At the same time he says that teams like Siviglia can play ESL if they win the league. The question is: how the fuck should they win the league?

Personally a "new CL" is not a bad idea. I don't like the UEFA, their shitty FFP rules that stopped us for years, their "partnership" with PSG, the whole Qatar thing and everyhing else, fuck them. The Super league would be a great idea but not like this. There should be at least more chance to qualify. Teams like Atalanta or Siviglia should have a chance too. They still could make this competition acceptable, who knows...

Probably Conte behind all of this to lighten the pressure on the lads by shifting the focus somewhere else. Grande

It's sad that we won't get those "minor" games like Inter/Lazio Inter/Roma anymore, but seriously fuck UEFA and FIFA.

They're turning on EA too now. Ultimate Team making too much money

In my opinion. Big clubs have huge debt (because COVID-19), then create their own league .
The problem is European Super League money >>>>>>>>> UEFA Champions League money.
If UEFA can create something to make huge revenue for big clubs , this will not be happen.
Did UEFA care about big clubs revenue ? Did they care about big clubs bangkrupt ? Looks like UEFA don't care about this.

Why i said that ? Look Perez , Agnelli, and others. Seems dissastified with current UEFA policy for big clubs.
In the end, i blame this happen on UEFA, cause they can't solve this problem. I am not fans of ESL, but i just don't want my favourite club gone.

If the rest of the leagues want to be relevant, they'll do a relegation system where the winner of the league advances to that season of ESL. At least that will make the leagues worth watching.

Though I'm not sure how the relegation system would work...

Perez is right when he says that CL is only interesting at the quarter finals.

Not interesting for him. And therein lies the problem - self centered interest from those who hold power and money. Utter diregard for anyone else. I can imagine it's actually very interesting for supporters of Ferencvaros  or even a Lazio or Leicester sized club.

If clubs like Real Madrid think they're simply too good to bother competing against the likes of Sevilla or Brugge, they can get fucked. It's not the competition which needs to change. It's them that need a fucking bitch slap across the face and a lesson in decency and humility. These things are of course, utterly incompatible with the mentality of a Real Madrid supporter anyway. There's always a cunt out there who thinks he's too good for everyone else. Wake up, cunt. You're not.

I've been avoiding this topic because it seems impossible to have the discussion without touching on deeper, political and philosophical subjects like fairness, equality, sporting merit and overall society etc.

But this really is essentially an extension of the kind of ruinous inequality and greed we see in greater society. Look at companies like Amazon paying zero dollars in corporate taxes. Look at GameStop and how when the "little guy" started winning for once, the investment funds instantly re-rigged the game with the help of other governmental and arbitrary bodies. Disgusting.

Make no mistake, this Super League is nothing but a bunch of investment funds, in the form of a few dozen, faceless, middle-aged men, who are looking for a guaranteed return on investment.

Like, motherfucker, there are no guarantees in life. Every person in the world accepts risks and chances every minute of every day. But that's not good enough for these funds who have the contempt to consider themselves above risk. They're upset that their pockets were hit by COVID - never mind that all 7 billion people in the world were worse affected. They want a guaranteed ROI and they're willing to completely tear down everything to get it.

I don't mean to sound like some insane socialist or hippie, because I'm not. But general fairness is something most people are taught as a child, and can determine from a mile off - and this ain't it bro. That's why with the exception of a few alpha Dan Bilzerian's among us, almost everyone in the football world thinks this is dogshit.

Considering how far gone this shit is, the best case scenario right now (and likeliest IMO) is that the 12 clubs will remain in their respective national leagues (and be more hated than ever - expect small teams to spit blood against us) while a significant adjustment is made to the CL.

Will this make me stop supporting the club? There's a 99.95% chance that it will... not. I can't think of what would make me stop supporting this club, but this ain't it either.

Unfortunately, I will simply have to bear this indiscretion as a stain on my clubs legacy forever. Comparable to... I don't know.. your dad cheating on your mum? :pazzini: Your wife spitting on a homeless guy? Your son getting into a street gang, assaulting and robbing an elderly man? Just something or someone you love, who has done a real shameful act.

I have observed that most football fans don't want this shitshow which makes not understand how Madrid and Barcelona are in this, are they not owned by the fans or some kind of supporters group. Perhaps that just shitty thing and not real.

You had to insert "If ESL make Conte to resign, count me in" in the poll.

Exactly. There's a discussion about a Super League for years but it always looked like an empty threat to UEFA from the clubs in order to get what they wanted. So why now?

If we want to find the answer of that we don't have to look further than what Perez said last night. It probably was the only honest thing he said last night. Many years of bad management combined with covid crisis have run many of those clubs into the ground and they need the money of this league to survive. Just look at the clubs that are behind it.

Real had to ask from their players and staff to take paycuts, they didn't sign anyone last summer and they even had to sell their best academy players. Barcelona are in a terrible financial situation thanks to Bartomeu disastrous management.

Juventus suffered big losses, they even suspended salaries payments and they need to invest a lot in order to become competitive again in Europe. Inter have also suffered big losses, they were struggling to pay salaries, the ownership don't want to invest further but they also don't want to sell the club at a cut price.

Then you have clubs like Milan who want to get into this because it's the perfect model for Elliot to attract potential buyers while English clubs are getting into this for increased revenues because why the fuck not?

Unsurprisingly, the only top club that is against this league is Bayern, one of the best managed clubs in the world that is rub by club legends and not some greedy bastards and a club that remains in a great financial situation. They even managed to have profits last year.

that was debt, you did not have money. You had money the same way the americans loaded up on debt to buy houses.

Why would we not see another Barella or Bastoni>? do you think they play right now because they love you or me?

What part of our football is not commercialised right now?

My point was that we managed to buy them, and they were poor purchases. More money does not make a club smarter.

My point regarding Barella or Bastoni was not related to their perceived loyalty or love to the club, but rather to their heritage.

If Inter secedes from UCL more clubs will earn a lot less money, which mean that life as a footballer becomes drastically less viable. So if you're a young boy running around in Sardinia playing football you will probably be disencouraged to pursue that career path.

And let me tell you what part of our football is not commercialised right now - performance-related participation.. that which makes it possible for a club like Atalanta to play against Real Madrid, or a club like Inter to miss out on the Champions League for several years.
