Why is Kean not called up?

It's a bit of a puzzling choice. If something happens to Immobile or Belotti we'll only be left with one striker in the squad. Considering how impotent those two are, I would have liked to bring along a third option for once they inevitably struggle to score. Not sure what the alternative option is right now. Berardi as a false nine?

I completely missed Toloi becoming Italian.

Italy's squad for Euro

Based on this squad selection, I can already smell a Bonucci-Chiellini being the starter. The attack is so shit..

Fantasy League related questions:

- Will Spinazzola start over Emerson? It seems like Mancini has preferred Spinazzola in most recent International games. Emerson barely played for his club.

- Italy's attack is a mess... in the sense that Mancini has used every possible combination of players up front in every different game. It feels difficult to pick one. However, it seems like he prefers Bernadeschi and Berardi on Right Wing over Chiesa. Recently he has played Berardi more than the other 2. Do you reckon Berardi will be a starter?

I'm not Italian, so I prefer asking here

Considering how easy the group looks on paper, plus the fact you can finish third and still qualify for the next round, I'm expecting heavy rotations from Mancini. It's probably a situation to avoid in fantasy leagues.

To answer your specific questions, I'd peg Emerson and Chiesa as the favorites to start. Emerson started most of the Nations League games, and Chiesa is just the best option.

But again, Chiesas been mostly been played on the left side last season. It'd be interesting to see how he'd play on the right side as Insigne should automatically be on the left side.

I’d start Chiesa on the left. Italy attack should be built to get the best out of Chiesa now. He’s the most in form striker in the front 3. Politano or Berardi can play on the right, insigne off the bench. Belotti > Immobile always.

Politano and Pessina cut, here is the final squad:

E21G0mLWQAM0c-r

I think this is a pretty decent squad, considering the circumstances and the talent available. The dark horses for Euro2020 or Euro2021, whatever its called.

The only change I would have made was Pessina over Cristante. Maybe Mancini over Toloi, but thats a borderline call. And I wish Italy had a better alternative to Bernardeschi than Politano.

Looks like Mancini and Pessina were cut, while Raspadori replaces Politano.

Raspadori has really made a name for himself these past few months. A little surprised Sensi got the nod ahead of Pessina.

Far from the best Italy squad I've ever seen, but also clearly the best in the last 8-10 years. Semi-finals should be realistic target.

I think Mancini respects Sensi given Sensi has performed very well at Italy shirt during Mancini era while Pessina is quite an odd shot and has risen up only during this season.

Why the fuck was Mancini taken out? I'm not a big fan of his, but he deserves it. And why is that cunt Bonucci still there?

And with all other CBs - Acerbi, Bastoni, Chiellini - being left footed, Bonucci could very well end up playing a lot.

Midfield is clearly the strong area. Cristante and Sensi are the weakest ones there, and both are still decent. No matter which combination you pick, it is a fairly formidable one.

In attack I think the first choice should be Insigne - Immobile - Berardi.

Is this the official? They switched to 26 instead of 23?

Bonucci :palm: the only right footed CB, so he will play like all the time.

Decent squad in the end. Not the best but still pretty decent. Italy CAN go all the way, but probably 1/4 or 1/2 is more realistic.

Dollaruma
Florenzi - Bonucci - Bastoni - Spinazzola
Barella - Jorginho - Verrati
Chiesa - Immobile - Insigne.

IMO this will be the lineup, with possible small tweaks here and there.

Must say, Italian fullbacks are so average these days. You could replace the 4 in the Azzurri squad with Darmian, Dimarco, Biraghi & Dumbo, and no one would even notice.

Whatever happened to the great Italian fullbacks!

The first mistake Mancini will make is play Chiellini, who is with Bonucci the wort CB on that list. The second one will be starting Spinazzola, who will injure himself in the group stage. And the third he already made, by calling up Bernardeschi, who has been shit for over 3 years now. How didnt Darmian make the team is also a mystery for me. He had a better season than all of the fullbacks on that list.

I don't mind calling up Bernardeschi. He hasn't been given an opportunity to play regularly in his natural position for a while. He captained the team last week (against a terrible opponent) and looked lively. I think he's a fine option as a reserve winger.

If we were choosing CBs based on merit the starters would be Bastoni and Acerbi. Unfortunately, we're going to roll with the old guard. At least this will presumably be Chiellini's last tournament.
