This is why as a general rule of thumb buying players over 28 years old is typically not good business.

Radja was more like an unfortunate business decision. It wasn't planned Spalletti would get sacked after the season, for reasons we know now.

Yea, but he was nothing spectacular under Spaletti also. There were so myn red flags with N9 those days and Inter ignored them all. And that happened.

Cagliari sporting director said they can't sign Nainggolan without Inter terminating his contract.

So fuck Cagliari then. Find Nainggolan another club, and if he does not agree, freeze him.

Yes we lose some more money, but it sets precedence. Otherwise, other clubs just go backdoor with players and show disrespect to the owning club.

Learn from Marina of Chelsea. Giroud is like their sub of a sub, 35yo, but they can still squeeze money from Milan because they never care bullshit offers.

Totally agreed. It sets a really bad precedence and other clubs will ruthlessly try to exploit it. I have a somewhat more positive take on this: can we not just keep ninja and use him as a squad player? There is no ill will between management and him and he himself has said he will have no probs staying back. I know we take a hit on the salary, but seriously, giving in to Calgiari's demands would be the worst thing to do.

Normally I agree, but not for Nainggolan. We simply have too many midfielders (Barella, Brozovic, Hakan, Sensi, Vidal, Mario, Gags, Vecino, even Eriksen and Agoume). Ninja has declined too much that he is easily the worst among them. He gave away like 4 stupid balls in 15' against us.

He is an unprofessional cunt, is not serious with his own career (bar, drink, smoke and all the shit). I don't want him to "infect" other players.

Cagliari and Ninja can suck a rusted pole. I'm just glad he wasn't here when we won the Scudetto, to show him what he missed just because he was a drunk cunt.

Nainggolan is a valueless asset. He offers close to nothing on the pitch. He's aging. He has huge wages. Who would want him under these circumstances? Cagliari aren't going to give us a cent for him.

We're going to golden handshake him.
You saw this coming.

Totally agree, would be great if we can afford as a club to teach other clubs a lesson.

Cagliari have been dragging this deal into the ground with free loans to keep his value decrease and then breaking agreement?! :palm:

From 12m to free, they can go f#ck themselves!

Totally. Fuck them. They got Godin level player for free and as we paid him golden handshake, they were able to sign him at all given he didn't ask too much money.

What a bunch of cunts.

As a rule of thumb I partially agree. When you buy players from 28yo and on, is very uncommon that you will recoup much from your investment. Usually is a loss. That means, you need to be sure that the fucker is worth the cost: salary + amortisation. Otherwise you are screwed.

Nainggolan was already 30yo, he declined already in his last year in Rome, his style of play usually don't age well and the motherfucker has a life style that don't fit a performance sportler.
We paid 24m (I don't want to bring Zaniolo in) and something like 9m gross wages. So for 4y his cost was 60 fucking millions.
That was a baaaaad business.

I say just pay him and save some money and move on! Very bad busines overall but these thing happen at every big club! Cagliari is running a business too and they know our situation and like PHM1605 wrote, we have too many CM at our roster.

We also arent that kind of financial position like Chelsea who have deep pockets and we need to save every cent we can!!

This. I don't understand much from football - at least not as much as many users here. But I really couldn't believe the hype about Nainggolan's transfer. For me it was clear from the beginning this transfer is a terrible deal.

Just look at the transfers of players 30+ in the last 10 years ... For every Miranda we get five players like Kolarov, Valero or Vidic.

Put the cost for Mario alone next to the sum of Kolarov, Valero, Vidic, you will get the answer.

Grandpas are cheap, used as gap-fillers when you need quantity. Young talents are 10 times more expensive, and if he flops, costs you a fortune.

I got why people hate Nainggolan, me too. But I don't get why people hate Valero so much? Why don't you guys hate e.g. Brazao? The latter is more expensive, literally useless, but let's treat them differently because of age difference?!?

Valero was useful player. The issue was Spalletti, who insisted to use him as AM, where Borja was pathetic.

The unfortunate sagas of Nainggolan and Ciao Mario need to end so we can all move on. Every time I see their threads still active on FIF, I die a little inside.
