Gollini to Spurs is close apparently, and they're also after Tomiyasu. lol Paratici. B-grade Leonardo trying to plunder Serie A talents.. except he's after a much lower grade of talent and with one tenth the resources 😆

I never rated Gollini tbh. Probably the keeper I liked the least out of the moderately-rated Serie A keepers like Dragowski, Cragno, Musso etc. Even though Musso hardly impresses me either, I can see why Atalanta decided to spend big to replace Gollini.

Seems that Griezmann-Saul swap is off, at least for now. Clubs haven't been able to get the agreement over the conditions. Barca wanted that Atletico adds money to the deal and Atletico wants Barcelona to pay part of Griezmann's salary. :D

Also there's side issue which is interest from EPL for Saul. Saul hasn't decided anything yet but I guess EPL money is attractive.

What’s going on at Madrid? They haven’t signed anything in ages, they’ve lost Ramos and apparently Varane is going to Man Utd too.

Let me guess.. incoming Skriniar rumors?
From an outside perspective, they’ve had some hard flops in the transfer market recently. Hazard and Jovic specifically. Plus massive wages for almost everyone some of which are impossible to get rid of. Hello Gareth.

I reckon they’re probably saving up for Haaland next summer too.

Is it fair to consider Jovic a flop? They bought a striker who was ment for the bench, there was no way Zidane was going to bench Benzema.

The only clubs that have any money appear to be PSG and premier league teams. I don't think this is particularly great for football in general. Seems untenable for lower table PL teams to be able to outbid CL teams from other leagues

They spent over €60m on him if I'm not mistaken. Even for Real Madrid, that is not a fee you pay for someone meant for the bench.

I'm sure UEFA will remedy this by allowing England to have up to 8 teams in the CL - where games will be played in 3 thirds of 20 minutes.

Jovic is certainly a flop at Real for me. They brought him as a Benzema backup at first but they hoped he could turn into his heir eventually and that's why they spent so much on him. Not only did he fail to challenge Benzema but he even failed to establish himself as a reliable backup. And tbh if you look at his whole career we could say he's more of one season wonder than someone who ended up at the wrong place at the wrong time. He failed at Benfica, he failed at Real, he had a decent first season at Eintracht and he exploded in the second season in Adi Hutter's system.

The interesting thing is Jovic isn't the only one from Eintracht magic attacking trio who struggled once he left the club. Sebastian Haller post-Eintracht career hasn't been much better. He joined West Ham for 50m in the same summer Jovic moved to Real. He was very disappointing in EPL and then he joined Ajax 18 months later for 22m where he had a decent first season. Funnily enough the only member of the trio who had a decent post-Eintract career was the lowest rated of the 3, Ante Rebic, who has been decent for Milan.

After watching Andre Silva having a similar impact with Jovic at Eintracht under Adi Hutter i think it's safe to assume the great season of those 3 had more to do with the system than with the players themselves.

There's a reason I was quite happy with Hütter's appointment at Gladbach. Hopefully the success he had (for the most part) in Frankfurt continues in NRW.
