And the deal made to sign Nainggolan is waaaay worse than the one made for Vidal.

Totally agree re the role of a coach though. Suggestions, input, sure, but squad development takes precedence over anything coach has in mind.

As a rule of thumb, you are correct. But there is a difference.

Vidal was brought after we were broke and couldn't buy Tonali, our official target (even if he would have been one for the future). Don't forget Marotta refused Conte in the winter before and he brought Eriksen. I don't blame Marotta here. Conte needed a midfielder and he was what we could do at thet time.

Nainggolan was just simple a bad business. So many red flags and we ignore them all. And the total cost of Nainggolan was brutal for 30yo, already with sign of decline, wrong behaviour and with a playing style who doesn't age great. What more warning signals did we want?

Yea it should have been a one year deal but Vidal actually kind of served his purpose. He helped us banish the demon (Juve) which really was the turning point for us as a team. Who knows what happen if he doesn’t score that goal, we’ll never know, but he did. The moment wasn’t too big for him and I think that why Conte wanted him.

With that being said it became more and more obvious as the year went on that he was probably 2 years removed from actually being a real contributor at this level. The performances in CL particularly were tough to watch. Best of luck to him.

I do not want to sound ungrateful but when I think of Vidal, I think of Conte taking a huge overpriced shit in the middle of the Meazza and then leaving.

rathwr have kept Vidal than giving Conte the golden handshake or Renewing Kolrov

It may be unpopular opinion, but I actually like Vidal. Aside from his brainfart in one or two (or three) occassions, he is actually still a serviceable player. Much better than Gags or Vecino.

I understand he has gigantic salary, and even more this season. But if we have to pay severance, like 3-4 million or more, better to keep him as he will be serviceable for our team. I dont think Flamengo or other South American teams could pay as much as that we only need to cover 1-2 million of his salary.

I hope anybody gifting him anything will get economic difficulties in the future.

His only decent games were against Rube and Sassuolo away. Other than that he was a total failure.

He should've been big for us in big games. Instead was detrimental in CL. Would've been better if he didn't come here tbh.

Spot on! Given his experience and the reason he was acquired, Vidal was meant to be a major determining factor in our favour in those games. But he singlehandedly ruined any chance we had of making it through to the next round.

Honestly, I still can not get over the cruel irony.

As expected, he has no intention of giving up on his 6.5m/year contract.

“I can’t wait to get back on the pitch, as last season was not too good for me, I lost the last few months of the campaign due to injuries. This season I want to be at 100 per cent and show the whole world who Arturo Vidal is.

“I spoke to the club, we have a good rapport. They have a great deal of faith in me and I feel the same way about them. We need to see the Vidal that everyone knows, targeting a Scudetto and going all the way in the Champions League.”

Has Arturo been drinking again? :palm: How delusional this guy think we are?

Even out of form he is still better than Vecinos and Gagliardinis. If Nandez comes regardless of Vidal, i don't mind him staying for next season. Vidal, Brozo, Barella, Hakan, Nandez and Sensi is a damn good midfield.

Maybe he better than them in terms of talent, but i still prefer play vecino or gags, this guy is stupid, he not thinking before he does things, he do many stupid fouls and get cards and go talk with refs, he still thinks he at rube fuckers...

My problem with Vidal last season was he played too much like a star player who's just past it. A bit like what the reality is. :D

He's too slow so when he loses the ball, he complains to the ref despite the giveaway was only because he was too slow. And similar antics, mostly everything he fucks up originates from the fact he's just too slow these days.

Paying 6.5m€ net for having this kind of player in the squad simply hurts. Sanchez is injuryprone but on the pitch he's usually one of the best players.
