I don't see why we can't just retrofit a Suning washing machine into some body armour for Eriksen. It says to wear a protective pad right.

According to Sky, Eriksen will be in Milan next week and will take the necessary medical tests to find out if he can still play in Italy.

According to the latest reports, Christian Eriksen will at the very least have to wait six months before he can play for Inter again, and might be barred from Serie A permanently after his cardiac arrest.

The Denmark international collapsed during his side’s UEFA EURO 2020 game against Finland last month and had to be revived on the pitch with CPR and a defibrillator.

He was taken to hospital, where a miniature defibrillator was implanted, but medics in Italy have warned nobody with that equipment would be given the all-clear to play in Serie A.

While other leagues have different specifications, the Italian Federation will not allow players with an implanted defibrillator to play professionally.

If Eriksen’s heart condition was caused by a temporary inflammation, then the implant can be removed and he could resume his Serie A career for Inter.

The time taken for the tests and removal of the implant, according to Sky Sport Italia, is at least six months.

So while Eriksen is expected in Milan next week for pre-season, he certainly won’t play until at least February 2022, if at all.

That’s kinda perfect tbh! He came into the squad around February this year too and gave us the creativity boost and dynamism to win the league!

well, I think it's just under 5% chance that scenario happens, for now just assuming that he retires or doesn't play in Italy anymore

I selfishly hope he'll retire. I will constantly fear for his life he continues playing.
This. The constant fear about his life every time he plays isn't worth it tbh. I hope he never plays for us again, i can't watch him do it.

Sky Italia: Christian Eriksen will undergo the usual medical examinations in the next few hours that will further clarify the reasons linked to the illness he had at the European Championships, in the match between Denmark and Finland.

GdS reported that FIFA will cover 7.5m gross salary for one year's time. There's little less than 4m€ gross needs to be covered by Inter. And insurance policy will cover most of the book value he has left in our books (annual amortizations).

Does that mean he's officially out?

whats the deal on the insurance, Cafe? If it's covering our unamortised fees until he's fit (or whatever) that's quite good. I was hoping we'd get replacement value for him but hey... Saving 10mil a year is not bad.

GdS story said it covers ~18m€ value Eriksen still has in our books. Don't know anything else. From that I understand insurance indeed covers that amortization, so we would get actual money from the insurance company annually, which should be around 6m€.

About the salary, FIFA/UEFA has paid his salary since he went to NT duty. I don't know when that "one year" has started, maybe when Denmark went out of the Euros? We still need to pay almost 4m€ gross of his salary this year but FIFA pays that 7.5m€ gross.

Let's hope the device can be removed and we get a new midfielder for "free".

Obviously with no medical basis but I think Eriksen would be crazy to have the device removed, from a health perspective.

If its covering amortisation + most of the salary, in the short term, that'll save us 15-ish mil a season?

Almost something like that.

Then if he can continue playing elsewhere I don't know how it goes with the insurance and book value. Can we keep taking insurance money and terminate Eriksen's contract? Or if we sell him, can we sell him for less than the book value and get the difference from the insurance company? :D Because I think we won't get much if we sell him because of the situation. Big salary, limited market and basically have-to-sell status.

Logically it seems likely we get the insurance money if he cant legally play kn Italy. It would probably be favourable for us to terminate him rather than sell him in that case and he's unlikely to carry any real market value atm.

From a salary perspective he might lose any salary protection from insurance if he continued to do a very similar job elsewhere though.

Yeah so if the device stays, we just terminate the contract, get the insurance money and we don't have to worry about any of the salary anymore.

Still I'd take him removing the device scenario but I consider that unlikely. And without any medical knowledge, a risky one.
