Would you buy Lukaku this summer?

Never tought we could get this much money from 28 year old Lukaku, middle of pandemic? Very good job from Marotta and Ausilio!

Was it really a "very good job" though? There were like 3 top strikers available this summer and they were always going to cost 100+ million.

Let's see what comes out, but I'm a bit pissed he hasn't said anything to inter fans yet. Even hakimi had the decency to write something to inter fans before his move to psg was finalised. Whereas this guy was writing that he's home in Milan and supported inter as a kid, now saying the same stuff about Chelsea. Bit annoying to be honest.

Lol I don’t know about you guys, but this story ended perfectly for me. We didn’t get to see him declining, got probably his best years here and we got over a 100 million for the dude at the age of 28. The only truly sour thing about this deal is the aftermath; that we aren’t going after any prospect to replace the man.

The lip service he's given is hilarious. Don't buy support for Inter as a child statements.

That being said, selling him doesn't bother me.

Also, for all this talk of him being home at chelsea, never forget he turned Chelsea down for united a few years ago
He was litterally about to sign for Juventus if Dybala didn't reject the swap because he didn't want to go to United. He doesn't give a sh*t if you ask me.
Which is fair but he needs to stop pretending.

I love where I work, but if they were fine with letting me go I can easily imagine being very excited to try something new.

In Lukaku's case there are millions involved, powerful clubs, agents etc so it's obviously different, but is it believable he wanted to stay AND was willing to go if Inter was ok with it? 100% imo

I agree, but the news is that he pushed for a move and honestly to me, it just seems like Marotta repeating himself back in June saying that "no player would be kept against their will" should have been his cue to ask for the move and gtfo. The timing now is bad for Inter but he doesn't care. If he said "hey I want to move now" back in June or even in July, I think people would have been sad maybe but near nobody would have felt betrayed.

The only thing I will say is he had a little clip in his Instagram video that was basically a pundit (I believe Klinsmann) saying that he carried us to the scudetto on his shoulders. I’d be lying if I said it didn’t kinda rub me the wrong way.

He was good last year but our Scudetto was a team effort and if any individual deserves credit it’s Conte.

To be fair strikers usually get most of the credit for any title win cause it’s usually associated with them racking up the goals. Completely untrue and unfair though so I wouldn’t let it bother you as we all know.

But FIF convinced me that he was "selfless" :(

Stop trying to undo 2 years worth of sweet talk.

We're talking about a guy who gave an interview saying (believing?) a bunch of stuff that was completely the other way around.
For some reason people bought his stuff.

I guess people love extroverts even if they blatantly lie to their faces yet they are extremely cautious of introverts. Reactions towards Lautaro come to mind as a direct comparison.

So many people believe that. Even here on FIF.

It makes sense for someone who only watches statistics or occasionnally watches games but I can't understand how anyone who watched the 38 games of the season would say that one player carried the team.

Lets not rewrite history either. He was our top goalscorer and assister, and created the most goal scoring chances for us. We wouldn't have won it without him.
But, it wasn't solely down to him and as thatdude says if any individual should get it its conte.

I think I can confidently say that "we wouldn't have won without him" applies to a large number of our players, starting from the 3 at the back but also Barella, Brozovic, Hakimi who was a major difference maker and even Lautaro.

It was a collective effort and the players completed each other, no one had a Messi-esque season imo.
