Dimarco can only play WBL when Dumfries is around, as the other option for WBL when Dumfries is on would be Darmian himself. Perisic and Dumfries are "too attacking", so they won't be playing at the wings together.
Vecino a mezzala for the coach, like Barella. Vidal occupies the Brozovic and Hakan roles when necessary.
Correa is to be used next with Dzeko as the target man. We can do light weight duos only if we're sitting back and not chasing a score.
The timing of the first subs was suspect, but Real Madrid started the same way they started the first half which aimed to suffocate us, so a fresh pair of wingers wasn't a terrible idea. They just didn't play that well. Dimarco was nervous and Dumfries is bad tactically and just not at the standards needed for this job.

I don't know about the subs, the defeat was not because of those. It was because of the lack of concentration by a lot of players in that one play.
But I'm concerned why Dzeko keeps playing 90mins. He can't keep doing that all season long and since he can't do that, he shouldn't be doing it at any point. As we need to learn to play without him.

Best Overall PosterPoor and predictable subs. His insistence to play Dzeko for the whole 90 minutes in every game will only burn him out. Is Sanchez in such a poor state he can't play 10 minutes and instead we prefer fucking Vecino? Very disappointed with Inzaghi in the last two games.

The only sub that'd make sense would be to take off Barella, otherwise we should have done nothing like Ancelotti. The alternative would have been Gagliardini for Barella.
But definitely, Dzeko shouldn't have finished the game.

Most Humorous MemberAs brehme said, simply too rigidly structured in his subs, not too dissimilar to Conte. He has designated that certain players are backups to others and that player A must play with player C because he can’t play player A and B at the same time etc.

Dumfries gives mixed vibes. On one hand in isolated moments, he anticipated well offensively and defensively. On the other hand as Brehme said, he feels lost tactically.
Which means it is to no surprise his game time has been very limited thus far. Inzaghi realizes this too and currently "former Man United player" Darmian is just our best option. He's almost always at the right place at the right time.
It's hard to say what Inzaghi could've done to change this game around. I had long taken peace with a 1 point draw. One thing I would've done different is taking of Dzeko. If even his target man duties are not well executed, might as well play Lautaro and Correa if we can't even make a good tactical use of Dzeko.

Well at least with Lukaku you had an almost guarantee he'd hold up a ball and move play forward at some point. Tactically very useful.
But Dzeko failed at even that in this game. Inzaghi kept faith in him, but it didn't change.

10 years of FIFForum SupporterI was quite excited when he made his first subs, felt a bit bad for Darmian and he was working his ass off. We didn't deserve to lose this game, also feel like Inzaghi picked a good team and stuck to his guns, I will all season trust in Inzaghi and get behind him. Shaktar games were always going to be crucial, this loss is hard to take but it aint the end of the world and Inzaghi is not to blame.

? We lost to a late minute goal after somehow failing to convert our chances in the first half. That's not on Simone. But how about we give him credit for what he did get right before baying for blood. There's still a lot to iron out tactically but this is progress.
