I'd rather Skriniar take the penalty. I also had the feeling that Dimarco would fuck it up, I wonder if the other 10 players on the field also felt this.

Probably not since it's agreed within the team Dimarco is the 1st priority PK taker.

Dimarco hit it like he was in practice. He needs to take the responsibility and shoot where it is safest. Take Lukaku for example. He never took any risks.

Milito was one of the few I felt comfortable shooting up. He was so certain and talented in penalties.

Just take it easy with that high shot thing. Maybe Dimarco has shot only high shots in the trainings and he has scored everytime? I have full confidence in Dimarco's high shots even after this match. Shooting low gives goalie a chance. Shooting high risks it not hitting the net. If Dimarco can train his high shots to be always under the bar, that's the way to go. This time it didn't hit it, too bad. Shit happens.

Not everyone is a penalty taker like Lukaku so IMO it's useless to expect such tendencies from players who are not Lukaku.

It's a bit weird to choose Dimarco as a penalty taker when his previous penalty was back in 2016 while he was still at primavera . Maybe he's great in training but he didn't have the experience to take the responsibility for such a crucial moment so late in the match. We were really unlucky our only decent penalty takers, Lautaro and Hakan, were already subbed off.

In my opinion he should be our penalty taker, he have amazing shot, vs atalanta it was only matter of pressure, nothing more..
Btw, i dont know why inzaghi said he is the 1st penalty taker of the team if he on the bench every game, kinda wierd to me..

How can El Toro accept this? This man is too nice for his own best.

Shooting a high penalty you always take a risk. Come to think of it did Lukaku shoot one high in 2 years? Now is when we see if he has the mentality to play for inter. Hope he takes the next one and burries it.
As CoolMan said, the only time he ever went high was against Milan but that reminds me - Lukaku was either incredibly good at deceiving the keeper or incredibly lucky (or a mix of both), because his penalties were never "unsaveable" if you know what I mean.

Harry Kane for example, goes neither high nor low with his penalties, but at a comfortable waist height. But he's really accurate. He puts them right in the edge of the net, and he hits them with full power. Even if the goalkeepers guess the right direction, they simply can't reach the ball due the placement and power.

Lukaku never did that though. He never really hit his penalties particularly powerfully, nor did he place them in the corner or with any height. If the keeper ever guessed the right direction, his penalties could've been easily saved. But they didn't. He simply sent the keeper the wrong way every single time on all 13 of his Inter penalties. That is astounding. It's like guessing heads or tails correctly on a coin flip 13 times in a row.

Back to Dimarco though, I'm OK with him taking penalties. Of course he wasn't on the pitch but it should be Calhanoglu (20 scored, 3 missed), or Lautaro (6 scored, 2 missed). But I worry about Calhanoglu's nerve, and half of those pens were in fucken Bundesliga 3.

Some of these fucking jokers though... Dzeko: 11 scored, 10 missed. Sanchez: 4 scored, 8 missed (LOL)

I'm surprised no-one mentioned Barella, He's got 4 Out of 5. He should be in the mix.

Dimarco clearly got the skill for it, but this was his 1st penalty at 1st team level in his career. So maybe he couldn't control his nerves and handle the pressure.

I would still keep him as one of the options.

Came on and stymied a couple of attacks late, and decent going forward. Good job.

Impact sub. I hope he turns into a Barella kind of player. Loves the club, and equally supported by the fans. I still don't see him as a long term LCB solution (and thankfully he doesn't have to be since we have Bastoni). But it's good that he can play LCB just in case we need extra firepower on the flank like today.

He basically provide something like an escape root. He can pass accuratelly long balls to get out of pressing. We are so hopeless to do it without Lukaku
