What's wrong with hyping up our players man? Seriously sometimes I just don't get fifers have you freaking forgotten our banter players that were only a few years back? I'm not going to name examples because perhaps some of you blocked them and I don't blame you for it.

Barella and Bastoni are both amazing young players and it is something to be proud of as Interista and both will hopefully wear Black & Blue for years to come.

he really needs to 'mature' on the pitch tbh. Kinda been trading on raw talent for a long time, and he has grown quite a lot through experience, but he really needs to keep growing

Hopefully it's a light enough injury to keep him away from the NT, but still be fully fit for Napoli.

Not his greatest game anyway. That shitty little back-heel that led to Milan's free-kick was beyond silly.

I'm probably the biggest barella critic on here, but I was stunned at just how shit we became when he wasn't on the field. I didn't think he was good today but holy shit we fell apart when he came off. Get healthy ASAP Nico.

He won't grow until we get a creative midfielder a la Eriksen/Sensi. Watch Barella's body language, he is essentially a dog on a leash. So many times he is conflicted as to where to make a move into open space and way more often than not it's because he has no one to combine with because his teammates fail to read the game in a timely manner.
Brozo is dropped low under Inzaghi to a degree where I almost consider him a fifth defender this season. As long as Barella has to play with Hakan/Vidal, or god forbid, Vecino/Gags, it will be like this.

All that being said, I don't find his performance to be an issue, he will develop with time. I am more worried that he isn't evolving in terms of patience and composure on the pitch. I wish a little bit of Skriniar would rub onto him.

He does a lot of silly mistakes but people wont say shit. If you guys are happy with his performances this season so far then it’s a problem. He is still far from reaching what he should have reached, and far from being one of our important players. He still loses a lot of balls unnecessarily. I’m not convinced by him still, he needs to up his game big time.

And I really hope the captaincy rumors are bullcrap.

I was going to make a point about Barella but it ended up being more about Eriksen.

Basically, Barella is not great at assisting us in playing out the ball from deep. He simply loses the ball way, way too much in dangerous positions.

It just highlights another understated area of importance which Eriksen offered. There's a reason Conte initially re-launched him as a DLP in Brozovic's position - because he's good at that role and under pressure (especially against shitters like Genoa). But even against stronger opponents, his assistance to Brozovic was immeasurable when he dropped deep to offer another outlet.

Look how many times today Brozovic received the ball from the defenders and had to awkwardly try and dribble his marker, or play it backwards. Look at how many errors he committed as well. We lacked that additional playmaker dropping deep to assist Brozovic. From our current squad, only Sensi is equipped to play that role, but it seems Inzaghi prefers him much higher up the pitch.

We miss Eriksen a LOT. Fucking unbelievable that he had this 1 in a 1000 injury.

I can't believe the amount of criticism Barella seems to be getting at FIF this season. This kid has scored or created 10 goals already this season, and yet people complain. Yes, he is overworked. Yes, he looks a bit jaded and desperately needs a break. But despite all that, he is having a great season. Not just in end product, but his technique and work rate is top class & improving year on year. One of the very few truly world class players we have.

At the mo, Barella is among the best midfielders in the world. We are so fucking lucky to have this absolute gem of a player who also loves Inter.

If Inter or Italia NT are playing he's answering the call. He always brings energy, along with spectacular falls when fouled, visible angst when his shot doesn't go in and a tad of immaturity. The guy wears his emotions on his sleeve and is a joy to watch and will get better with time, but boy does he need a rest. Unfortunately, Inter and the National Team can ill afford giving him the necessary time to recover properly.

I was a lot more critical of him last season in the second half, for now, he's playing like it was expected

I feel like the criticism towards him which is unfair has been around at FIF since he joined us and not only this season. I guess we have really high standards

Agree about the additional playermaker / ball carrier in midfield. Hakan isn't that guy. Should be Sensi but clearly he's not built for this level. Hopefully management sees sense and onboards Rafinha, a player who not only can move the ball about with intelligence, is comfortable in possession and can move the ball forward with flair, but also plays with passion and desire. Ability is one thing (which Eriksen has in abundance although lacking athleticism) but that take-charge-energy is something our midfield lacks, especially without Barella.

Why we can't make this guy captain.

Absolutely not. Perhaps at no fault of his own since he's overworked/overplayed. But I can easily name 10 better performing midfielders this season.

Unfortunately, Inter and the National Team can ill afford giving him the necessary time to recover properly.
I think the NT has plenty of options in midfield, Mancini is just being a cunt frankly. On our end with we def need a vice-Barella (and Brozovic). Should've been a priority over the summer but clearly we don't think things through.

Genuinely want to ask what do you think are the characteristics of a captaincy, the list of positives and negatives.

Can't compare Eriksen and Rafinha, Eriksen is more versatile and just fits a 352 better. I'd play Rafinha in a 4231/4312 tho before Eriksen.

Different people, different opinions. I respect your opinion. For me, Barella is amongst the best midfielders in the world. I am not talking about form here, I am talking quality. If you were given a blank cheque and asked to buy your starting and back up midfielders for a 3 man midfield, would you pick Barella? I would. Fact is that there are perhaps less than a dozen midfielders in the world who are actually worth more than 70-80m, and Barella is one of them. I surprisingly notice that people outside of FIF generally seem to rate Barella higher than Inter fans here. Maybe its a case of grass appearing greener on the other side.

There is just no fucking way Eriksen fits 352 better than Rafinha, at least Conte's version of 352.

And there is also no fucking way you can call Eriksen versatile. He only exceled in the classic CAM role that trictly sticked to the middle, and barely passable in a few other roles. How is that versatile?

It's different for different teams, depending on their circumstance and objectives, but from a quick Google:
Seven traits of an effective leader:
Effective Communicators
Accountable and Responsible
Long-term Thinkers
Self-motivated
Confident
People-oriented
Emotionally Stable

How many of these does Barella "tick"?

This Inter needs a "calm in the storm" type player, level headed, not a mad dog chasing cars. Can't fault Barella for his effort and passion, and he is the best player on this team in terms of ability, but he needs to keep calm and cool especially in high pressure moments, which is every match day for us, unfortunately.
