Inter defender Federico Dimarco is happy to have a regular place in the Nerazzurri first team and sees it as the result of intense effort.

Speaking to InterTV after the match he spoke about feeling that he has earned the privilege of representing his boyhood club through his hard work and growth, and expressed his happiness at scoring a goal to help his team win.

Dimarco got on the scoresheet for the second time this campaign, scoring the Nerazzurri’s second to wrap up a victory and get back to winning ways after frustrating results in their past two matches.

The 23-year-old and his teammates also had to work hard as a unit to maintain a clean sheet, and he showed once again that he is ready to be a big part of the plans at his boyhood club after his return from loan this summer.

Of his near-miss from which he almost bagged a brace, Dimarco stated that “I’m sorry that on my second shot the ball went out, I would have liked to have gotten a second.”

“Inter means a lot,” he reflected, “since I was little it has always been my home, from my youth to the first team. And so the goal means a lot.”

“It was certainly a hard-fought match,” the defender continued, “let’s not forget that they’ve achieved major results like in Turin against Juve. The three points have arrived and we are happy.”

He concluded that “I have certainly worked hard, I know what I have been through in recent years.

“I had to earn everything with my effort and I am happy that satisfaction is coming with this shirt. “

Inter are close to reaching an agreement on extending the contract of defender Federico Dimarco.
This according to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, who report that the 24-year-old is ready to sign a new deal with the Nerazzurri which would see him follow Lautaro Martinez and Nicolo Barella in committing their futures to the club.

Dimarco’s current deal is set to expire at the end of June 2o23, but the player has established himself as a regular in the first time since returning from loan with Hellas Verona in the summer.

The Nerazzurri are wasting no time in securing the 24-year-old’s future, and have been preparing a contract offer which will see him stay at the club until at least the summer of 2026 on improved wages.

It is thought that there should be few problems in finding an agreement and that Dimarco will soon put pen to paper on the new contract.

Yeah. It's rumoured they have an agreement for 1.5m per season till 2026. Great news if true.

Did well today, he's improving on the defensive end as well.

He’ll be a long term fixture in the squad like a D’Ambrosio or Ranocchia. Someone we can rely on to be solid any time he’s called upon.
While true I'm sure you'd agree that he also has the talent or at least his left foot alone is good enough to be a very good starter for us too, needs to acquire more positional experience and he'll be good to go, defensively it's probably never going to be at a reliable level but he could easily be the more (extremely effective) offensive option at the left.

meh its not 2000 anymore, being able to cross and take free kicks like beckham isnt enough to get you into a team

Life, and football, are cyclical.

I also think he offers more than just crossing and set-piece taking, his passing is pretty good and he has the potential to evolve technically.

Yeah I agree, I actually think the only thing holding him back are his physical attributes. He’s short and not very quick or strong. Technically though he is very good, and the mental side of his game will only improve with age. It wouldn’t surprise me if he is a starter here one day. I mean look at Darmian.

Carvajal is shorter and slower. I previosuly had doubts about Dimarco but i'm happy with his progress so far. He's on the right path, with time and minutes...

Carvajal is definitely not slower 😂

I agree though, Italians age like wine so he’ll be fine.

Let's agree they're about the same speed. My point is let's not discredit him because he doesn't fit our preconceived notions of what a LWB should be (or look like). Positioning and defending can improve over time. Crossing too. But so far so good. We can at least expect him to be as good as peak Biraghi.

Looked promising when running with the ball but his final ball was often disappointing. His defensive skill is just not good enough. Needs to step up his open play to be starter.

What is the point of this comparison?
that he's at an age where he should be starting to look at going into his prime, rather than being still very development focused.

he'll be a useful rotation option for us but i dont think he's ever going to be a really strong first team starter on a regular basis imho.

people are speaking about him here like he's 21/22, whereas he's 24
