Is Salah at African cup or will it be over? :yao:
Honestly this is our hope. Not that they will be gone because they won’t, but that maybe they come back jaded after a long tournament. As impressive as Liverpool is they have had their form issues as times like any team. They couldn’t seem to score a goal at times last season. Anything can happen.

I was speaking with some other clowns about this but I'll just mention here:

1) about Liverpool v Bayern, I'm regularly shocked and incredulous at how often Bayern leave themselves utterly exposed at the back. There are many times in the course of matches where opponents find themselves in a dangerous 3v2 or 2v1 situation and it's obscene how often they fail to take advantage of it. It's as if they're so used to winning the Bundesliga with their eyes closed that they can't even be fucked to defend. It's like Bayern rely heavily on their opponents simply fucking up, allowing their idiot defenders, Upamecano and Sule, to recover.

I would've much preferred Bayern.

2) The difference is all in the quality and the tendencies of the players we're up against - I think the Real Madrid games proved this conclusively. We can have all the nice and encouraging possession in the world and be encouraged when it leads to a decent chance, resulting in Lautaro shooting a tame shot directly at Cortois. None of that matters when Salah, like Asensio, takes the ball and smashes into the corner of the net at 100km/hr. In the moments which require you to either do or don't, our players simply lack the quality to "do" on a reliable basis.

They are full of players who can unlock a game and create something out of nothing. In a split second, a quick one-two between Mane and Jota can lead to a goal. A drop of the shoulder can expose our flank and open us up for a cross. Who the fuck is going to do that on our team? A 35 year old Dzeko? Retardo Martinez? The powerful-but-undeniably-slow Dumfries? Whichever useless dickhead stands in for Barella? They simply have so many more weapons than us and they are much more incisive with them.

Hello Inter fans,

I’m a Liverpool fan but I wanted to come on here and say that our respect for Inter is paramount. Some in the English media would like to portray Serie A as a lesser league but we know how good Italian teams can be; indeed you have many fans in England from the golden age of Italian football in the 90’s, myself included.

I think it’s fair to say we were both happier with the first draw! This is exactly what champions league football is about though in my opinion, two giants going head to head.

Whatever happens, good luck for the rest of the season, I’m hoping you can clinch a second title this year and I will never stop enjoying Juve struggle, it’s delicious. 🙌

Fuck! For me this is weird!
Liverpool is my second team (like Pajo with Atletico).
Don't get me wrong. Inter is my first and biggest love. I love this team since I started to watch and understand football. As a kid in east Europe when Serie A was the epitone of football, plus my father kind of Inter fan, it came naturally. I still remember when Inter won the UEFA league against Salzburg.
Liverpool came later, the last years of Houllier, just before Rafa Benitez came.
In the last 3 years I was spoiled. Liverpool won CL and Premier League, then Inter Serie A. Now they play against each others.
Sorry boys, but the odds are against Inter. Liverpool is just better (well oiled machine, better players, more experience). And their style with strong wingers is our Achile's heel.
I am not griddy, I would accept Liverpool qualifying and winning the CL. and Inter winning scudetto.

And maye in 2-3 years don Bepe and Simone will build a stronger all rounded team and will face Liverpool again and defeated them on the road to CL final.
A man can only dream.

Hello Inter fans,

Are you worried? This Inter is slowly getting better, but you guys have all the pace and all ball control talent in these two fixtures. Also Inter is without Barella, possibly both games.

Looking forward to this game. Maximum respect to Inter and this will be 2 classic giants going head to head. This is what football is all about!

Disappointed Barela will not be available for the game though. Watched him for the first time during the Euros and thought he was some player.

Lol why are people so disappointed now .
Its like saying i want to compete in Serie A but don't want to face Juve, Milan , Napoli while doing it.

We wanted CL football , this is CL football.
What does it matter ( other than just more money for the club) if we get Liverpool/Bayern/City now or later.
In my opinion this is the best draw we could get.

If you play Ajax and you don't go through, it will be a huge disappointment which might even have repercussions in the league for a couple of weeks. Even if you beat Ajax , you will not get that mentality that we showed we lack vs Real. Once you face a tougher opponent on the next turn you will still face him with underdog mentality and have same odds of getting eliminated as you would have had facing them earlier , but while losing more energy .

Instead we get the toughest opponent directly. I see only win win scenarios here.
If you get beaten ( as we should) we can say we got beaten by the best team , no disappointment whatsoever , immediately focus on Serie A and second star while taking lessons to improve the team for next year.

If by any lucky chance we go through then sky is the fucking limit. You get a huge confidence boost and we are ready to face any opponent coming next.

Thing is I feel like this Inter will keep improving in the next 2 months, while Liverpool is not going to be much different from now; not saying this will make up the difference, but I believe we have a fighting chance.
If whatever miracle happens and we become more clinical, we are a different team to think of.

I am not afraid of them. Bring em on!

And I hope Salah and Mane are very fatigued by their African adventures.

Just to add to my last post, I loved watching Serie A during the 90s.

When I think of Inter, of course I first think of our 1965 European Cup tie.

It's then the players of the 90s that always stick in my mind. The German trio of Brehme, Klinsmann and Matteus (up against the Dutch trio at AC of Rijkaard, Gullit and Van Basten).

I then think about players like Ruben Sosa, Walter Zenga and Pagliuca the goalies, Nicola Berti, Zanetti, Ronaldo ... and numero uno I think of is Giuseppe Bergomi with the iconic bushy eyebrows :)

Really looking forward to this one.

I guess Sanchez and reason why Inzaghi tried so hard to get Correa.

They redraw it? From Ajax to Liverpool. 😄

I think I am too old to believe this anymore. For ages there have been the same suspicion for those draws

In the best scenario, Lautaro will make the match on his life against Liverpool, and the whole EPL will be crazy about him. Marotta will sell him for 120 mln and Zang will allow investing 20mln in some mediocre serie A replacement.

Lautaro is too slow and too intelligent for EPL. All they look for is a tireless horse

Respectfully no and that is not a slight on Inter it’s just that this particular Liverpool team is approaching a level that not many teams ever get to. We had massive injury problems last year but prior to that we recorded 97 and 99 point league totals and two cl finals of course winning one.when are now approaching top form, spurred on by the increased competition in this years PL. We are scoring at a rate unheard of in England and because of our record in European competition, we a confident that we can beat anyone. I know to some that may sound arrogant but I certainly don’t think this is a done deal by any means.

To add to that, I think this tie has come a season too early for Inter, had this been Conte’s third season I would expect a tough test but as others have noted, your weakness is wingers and I think there’s a transition in style if I’m not mistaken whereas Liverpool have perfected theirs.

Having said that if I was an Inter fan I would relish the underdog status, when we won the cl in 05 we were written off at every round, obviously you know the rest.

Liverpool is an extremely well coached team that also relies on certain individuals or some combination* of players.

At full strength, it will take two excellent games from us capitalizing any mistake they make, assuming they aren't performing at their absolute best either.

It is doable but it comes at a bad time (Milan and Napoli away games just before), there's probably some Coppa game in between, too.

*Liverpool relies a lot on Salah obviously, and/or the combination of their attacking trio [with any of Salah, Firmino, Mane, Jota]. If they only have two of these guys, they probably won't trouble us. Then there's Alexander-Arnold who can be a catalyst with his set pieces and crosses. Defensively they aren't that good, but that's because of Alisson [not in peak condition anymore] and Van Dijk's influence.

I'm not wishing for them to be injured or whatever, but there can be an argument here that their side is not very deep, like City for example. They need everyone at top condition to sustain their great level and it's not a guarantee. Unfortunately, the same can be said for us. Especially at the back. Without our starting trio, we cannot achieve much here. Having no Barella will be a problem as well. Losing Brozovic for the tie for example will definitely ruin any chances we have.

Essentially, we can assume that we're outsiders, but when the fixture comes closer we can see what our real odds are based on who will be available from both sides.

Welcome to FIF lads, always love to hear from English fans who grew up watching James Richardson & Channel 4's Football Italia. What do you guys feel about this game, how confident are you and what are your fears about this tie.

As you can see here, we all think Liverpool start as big favourites, but its going to be a special game. A big historic CL tie. You guys want revenge for 1965, we want revenge for 2008. For Inter, anything from here on is a bonus, so we hope the team plays fearlessly as it has been this season. Two attacking teams with good defenders. This should a fun.
