Did the whore of a commentator just say that Bastoni have learned from watching Chiellini and Bonucci in the nationals? This is why I want arabic commentators, so I don't understand shit from what they say except ALLLAAAAAH when they score.

Players like Bastoni are hard to come by. Left footed, ball playing CB’s are a rarity. If we ever do sell him, God forbid, we better get a kings ransom for him.
Absolutely, he going to be top 5 in the future, we not see too many CBs in this height with such an excellent ball control, dribble and amazing passes and crosses, he absolute beast.

He played as a winger last night basically. I'm assured this guy could pull-off being both a wingback and a midfielder in a pinch if we were to get injury issues in the future.

Ridiculous talent.

he had an interview with La Repubblica

"It's nice to have the Scudetto on your chest, we'll try in every way to keep it. Then there is the Champions League ". To do so well you also need to learn to have fun: “Inzaghi has given us the freedom that allows us to remind us that football is a game. Except when you lose ".

“I played for Gasperini, Conte, Mancini and now with Inzaghi. The first two are always on the spot. Inzaghi and Mancini, in addition to their very strong commitment, take care of human contact. The result is that you are more relaxed in crucial moments ”.

Which is why Mancini and Inzaghi do better with less in cups and knockout games.

This is Klopp's superpower as well. His players under a different coach would barely qualify for a top 4 spot in England and definitely wouldn't be a CL contender. Hopefully Inzaghi is also like this and pleasantly surprises us in the Champions League.

You don't think Liverpool are one of the best sides in the premiership?

I think they’re an incredible side, and I also think they’re over performing thanks to Klopp - they’re not mutually exclusive IMO. I think another manager would struggle to get this level of achievement out of them, the balance that team has while being that effective up front is frightening.

Funny that we were already speaking about Liverpool in the Basto thread, as I saw this tweet and immediately saw some similarities with Klopp/Trent and what Inzaghi is doing with Bastoni.

The defender being used as an auxiliary midfielder/forward in team combinations/triangles seems to be becoming in vogue amongst attacking teams.

I cannot say that in any given season under Klopp that he had a better roster than Chelsea, Manchester City or even Manchester United. Even Arsenal for the first few years. His roster was actually weaker to also Tottenham when he started out.

His roster has been inferior to both Chelsea and Manchester City in the last three years. Others wouldn't have managed a top 4 spot, same way Man Utd was struggling or Arsenal is.

His players get vastly overrated as a result, especially the full backs and defenders other than Van Dijk. And his central midfielders as well. That's inferior to ours, best case scenario for them on par. It just works so well under him.

I still have my doubts regarding his overall defensive abilities. But he is developing into one of the best defenders with the ball at his feet. I think he has a very particular role in the team. If he beefs up a bit and elevates his defensive game I have not doubt he will easily become a top 3 defender in the world.
As a side note he reminds me a bit of Fabio Grosso rather than Bonucci who he is compared with.

Just hope the knock wasn't too bad, we'll need him against Torino. Good job today.
