I feel very sorry for Dzeko. Can't discredit his contribution but his form is just not there. The strange thing is that he's only useful when he starts and provides build-up play. With him being ineffective as of late, what could we do? Correa-Lautaro from now on?

Exactly. Dzeko did some good work out there, even though the misses were bad (as he was just missing everything).

Should have come out at 70 min mark to give Lautaro a nice 20 mins to create havoc at Atalanta defence.

This is normal game for Dzeko tbh. He had some kind of matches, where he keeps missing chances till the end. I think Inzaghi should start him from the bench in most of the games.

Yea, Dzeko was never much of a clinical striker, matter fact I always consider him as a wasteful type; but given that what he brings to the game is more than converting goals.
I checked back, last year his conversion rate was like 10%, and the year before 13.1%.
I even remember reading somewhere that there was one year his conversion rate was like 4.8%.
Just for comparison Lukaku's conversion rate last year with us was like a 25% (To be it is a bit misleading, cause just my personal thoughts, is that Lukaku are more reluctant to take a shot, unless it is leaning towards convertible, but still Dzeko is really low)

Despite bringing all the stats, I think there are qualities that cannot be full reflected on the stats, even when looking at the passing; Dzeko brings more fluid to the game, and does not limit the tactical approach like Lukaku, which benefits us in a lot of ways like rotation on player resting, and having plan B along with counter measure tactics, also meaning Dzeko does not need to be playing every game.

Dzeko this year so far is like 18.6%; and LM has a 19.3%, matter fact quite decent; however, this doesn't mean they are not wasteful as shit:

P.S. I am not defending Dzeko, I was always hoping that we would've bought another striker, cause like this match none of our strikers are actually good for it.

Despite starting most games, Dzeko still has the most goals off the bench for us this season with 3, he has impact sub written all over him. I just wish we had brought in someone more reliable than Correa this summer to start.

There weren't a lot of options. Zapata was one but we should have paid even more than Correa for him. I mean over 40m so that Atalanta would have agreed as they didn't want to sell.

Dzeko is fine. We knew he wasn't a clinical finisher so knew there will be games when we won't win because he can't score. Now it was Atalanta which is perfectly fine as we still drew and they were as close to scoring as us many times in the match.

Sucks that we don’t have a whole lotta alternatives to Dzeko. He’s an old guy who doesn't score anymore, Correa is a younger guy who doesn’t score in general and Sanchez is just another old guy who’s super inconsistent in front of the goal

well at least it sounds like if we dont wanna score goals we got plenty of options.

my normal position would be to see what we have for goalscorers in the primavera, but even there, no one has good stats really =/

Getting Lukaku back yes. But what’s the long term plan really?

Pinamonti? Football is a game of 11 people, not 12. If we start Pina that means we’ll have to sacrifice one of Correa/Alexis/Dzeko. With Lautaro being a centre forward style of player, I don’t see how a Lautaro-Pinamonti combination would work.

The only conclusion of this discussion is that we have wasted €30M on Correa. Pretty unforgivable since Inzaghi knows him well. Had we gone for Belotti… (which everyone ridiculed me for)
