I know people will laugh at this hiring because of his stints at Milan and Torino but he had done a good job at Sampdoria in the past so maybe it isn't going to be another disaster for him.

Giampaolo at Sampdoria is great news for Sensi as he will probably switch to a midfield trio. If he's smart enough he will accept the offer.
This is more or less a pattern here. And it has actually no logic.
Giampaolo was good at Empoli and Sampdoria. His Samdoria could beat in a good day nearly any team in Serie A. And he developed a lot of players. As any other teams, too thin sqaud to fight for something higher. Then he went to Milan and Torino and his teams played atrocious. It's not like he was out for a few years and football changed.
Di Francesco the same. Good at Sassuolo and Roma first year. then downhill. Sampdoria, Cagliari and Verona this year were emberassing.
Prandelli the same. Zaccheroni. Cuper. And the list goes on.
And by this I mean coaches who had managed well at least 2 teams. These guy were yesterday good coaches and today utterly incompetent.
Mourinho is downhill. But this took years.

Di Marzio said last night previous offer for Dybala isn't on the table anymore and if he doesn't accept lower figures Juve will let him leave on a free. This is fun.

Don't have one.
Now bring giampaolo and start the vicious cycle again.

He deserved the sack, but some of these italian clubs like genoa or samp are run like a circus. I feel sorry for their fans, it's like a perpetual circle of hell or a nightmare from which you can't get out, it just repeats itself.

There is a team in Colombia that hired the same two coaches like 7+ times. 1 died or has really bad health conditions so stopped hiring him. The other it’s like every year or 6 months they rehire the guy. It’s like wtf is ownership thinking or they just like giving the guy a 6 month vacation( leagues are 6 months in Latin America)

What's with Newcastle and their interest in Serie A players? The offer for Brozovic could be understandable but making offers for Bremer, Belotti, Gosens and Zapata? They certainly have someone who knows the league well and they're going to be a real threat in the future.

If they were buying equivalent level players in England they'd cost three times as much. Still some value to be had in Italy and wages still lower. That's a completely uneducated guess anyway lol

Atalanta have reportedly rejected Newcastle’s opening bid for Duvan Zapata, but could consider the striker’s sale for €45m.

The Magpies have targeted both Robin Gosens and Zapata in the January transfer window.

La Dea has already rejected an opening offer for the Germany full-back, but according to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Newcastle have knocked on the Nerazzurri’s door again, asking for Zapata.

The report claims Atalanta rejected an opening €30m bid for the 31-year-old. However, La Dea could consider the striker’s sale for an offer exceeding €45m.

Zapata, a long-time Arsenal fan, has repeatedly said that he dreams of playing in the Premier League one day and Newcastle would offer him a €6m-a-year contract.

The Premier League strugglers remain in talks for Gosens as well, although Atalanta director Umberto Marino ruled out the German’s transfer on Sunday.

“I read stories of Newcastle interest in a different Atalanta player every day, it’s like Bingo to see who comes up next,” he said minutes before a home Serie A clash against Inter.

“Robin has been out of action for four months, we miss him as a player and also a person, as he is one of the leaders of this squad and we hope he returns as soon as possible.”

Nevertheless, Gazzetta report that a big-money offer could convince Atalanta to sell Gosens, even though it is more likely that only one between him and Zapata will leave in January.

They seem to be targeting the right players from SerieA to instantly give them a bump and save from relegation.

It would make sense to sell Zapata given his age, especially for that kind of money. Atalanta have an amazing scouting network and have been doing extremely profitable transfers over the years, which allowed them to be Scudetto contentenders.

Dybala would be a great fit in Inzaghi's system but right now it's still in Juve's hands to negotiate with him but it's amazing how in a couple of years we've gone from being in Juve's shadow to having enough pull to attracting one of their star players.

For the rest of the rumours, I'm wondering whether Sensi leaving means us getting a midfielder.

Agreed, Atalanta is such a well oiled machine that you can replace players easily.

They have assigned agents to test the European market waters. Bremer's agent in particular is UK based and mostly deals with PL clubs, so perhaps he was hired with that in mind.

Their priority remains the PL (and UK in general) market for the time being, but if they survive the season, they'll be all over the place.

I hope Marotta and Ausilio are whispering good things about Newcastle in Vecino's ears everyday :yao:

That 45m sounds very close to Sassuolo's demand for Scamacca. Atalanta are wily as a fox in the mercato.

That would be uncharacteristic from them to spend 45m on a player. 15m for Arthur Cabral is something they would do.
