I wonder what all y'all be saying if Juventus reaches the semis or even the final.. Second tier and shit league?

We've just emasculated the best European English side, at "their own game" as their media likes to say, until we conceded a fluke goal and then we just didn't have the mental or physical capacity to overcome that (an issue we have to address, mostly by signing additional players) and conceded a second fluke of a goal.

They were toothless and were more scared of us than we were of them throughout the game. Experience counts. Depth counts. We were lacking those. We've gained experience, we need to add depth. We also need to improve quality. We all know that.

But stop saying shit like we got humiliated or that everything went as expected. A 2-0 Inter win last night wouldn't have been undeserved in the exact same game. It just feels bad to lose, but most of you had a loss written right after that second draw got us Liverpool.

What could they do? They played against superior opponent in every aspect of game. And they gave a good fight. They should be proud. Didnt lose to Barca B team or couldnt score against Shaktar in decisive game at home.
We are champions of Italy and we are proud of losing 2-0 at home with 0 shots on target, meanwhile tiny salzburg get a 1-1 draw with bayern. What's there to be proud of?

So we have stronger squad now or when we won scudetto?

Why are you comparing those? We have a weaker squad now obviously and we've been doing as well as possible, but we are fecking inter playing at home and we are content with only losing 2-0 because we supposedly played well? We need to be aiming higher than putting in good performances.
Bubba you are trying to compare to conte, who gives a fuck honestly, I've praised inzaghi so many times this year and even said I don't think conte could do what he's doing.

But should inter ever be "proud" with losing 2-0 at home to any team?? No!

This match just confirmed what we already knew. We need a better forward line and a better bench to compete in Europe.
And hope that Onana won't be a total basket case in goal.

No one's really proud of anything.

But the way we presented ourselves shows that there's something there that people have ignored.

This shot on target nonsense... Hitting the cross bar which meant having the biggest non-goal chance of the game is "off" target only on technicalities.
Bar & in, on target.
Bar & out, off target.

That's nonsense and I don't like seeing this repeated over and over again.

What shots on target did Liverpool have exactly? A neck header by Firmino and a deflected shot? They're far more worried by their performance than we are of ours, that's the difference. And it's also the difference in where the teams are. Liverpool are a team that consistently goes far in this competition and rarely faces this kind of pressure in knockout games. We barely expected to be here because we downgraded a team and handed it to a coach that no one really expected to pull it off.

Liverpool played with their very best. We did not.
We can only do better, they can only do worse.

It's not about pride, it's about reviewing the entire situation. And that is that the score doesn't do us justice, that the game could have gone either way and that we can compete at the highest level even when we're mentally broken (no wins vs Atalanta, Milan and Napoli within a month). Play this game 2-3 months ago with full strength and we win 7 times out of 10.

Bayern is a completely different situation. New coach, shaky results, no Neuer and not really in their best form. Salzburg is on Sporting's level for example. One managed to get a draw, the other lost 5-0 at home.

Oh give it a fucking rest. 4 times an Italian team has reached the CL final over the past 15 years versus 11 times an English team. And we’re being generous there just counting finals cos if we counted semi/quarters it will be a bloodbath. Stop living in the past. Their league spends 50 times more than our league of course they’re going to be the best just like Serie A used to be when it spent the most money

Based by Inter and Liverpool results in Europe and domestic in last 10 years Inter players should be proud. Not by result but by what they gave on a pitch.

being champion of Italy means nothing. Juventus as champion of Italy lost against champion of Portugal last season. Now the new champion of Portugal was smashed by Manchester City at home.

Nobody gives a shit about the money, no one says they're not wealthier and no one denies that there's two teams from there that in the last 5 years are in the elite.

Stop patronizing that shitfest of a money laundering league, if you like it so much stick with that.

The answer to your question is fuck NO.
But lets look at the facts we all thought we re gonna lose and the game we played was probably better than what we all expected especially with barella out.
Yesterday to me was one more showing that proved that we are on the right track.. Yes we re still inferior to pool but it s not by that fucken much.
Lets not forget that last year we did not make it past fucken Monchengladbach and shakhtar.. while not proud of yesterdays game imho it was another showing that gives me confidence we re moving in the right direction.

Like were we much worse then we we re in that infamous game in 08? Where by the way pool was not as much better (if they even were better) as us as they are now and they surely were not europes elite...

My entire initial point here was around our players on their socials etc saying they are proud.
It's OK for us fans to be content, and i agree with a lot of what you said, the shots on target stuff etc, but inside the club and the players can never just be content and proud with how last night went. Internally as a club we need to be aiming higher. Players being content with losing 2-0 to a superior team will only fester and bring a poorer mentality

Hello Inter fans,

From a Liverpool perspective I thought Inter were really impressive, the general vibes in the British media are ‘fuck Inter were good there’ It’s only the British media’s ignorance in the first place that they didn’t know that already.

Let me tell you this, that was one of our toughest games this year, the first part of the second half you played us at our own game in terms of sustained pressure, having strolled past AC in the group stages, your performance compared to theirs was night and day.

0-2 doesn’t reflect the game a more accurate reflection would have been a draw but Liverpool are seasoned campaigners in the tournament, this team has been to two finals winning one and you can see that in the way they weathered the Inter storm and then took their chances.

It’s not over but obviously it is likely that we will go through but if that is the case, I’m sure next year you’ll be able to go further in the competition, if you can bag a striker you’re going to be a team to be truly feared, I have no doubt.

Proud of this team! :interscarf2: We had so many chances yesterday.

Ivan Perišić is such a monster this season

Dumfries was decent (y)

Džeko was frankly bad, luck of pace is visible.

Great game from Hakan 👏

Lautaro failed to deliver once again 😢

Looking forward for the Anfield game! Forza Grande Inter :interscarf:

Exactly this.

I expected a loss, but I didn't expect the kind of performance from Inter. It was much better than what I anticipated. We really can play against the best teams but we simply lack the final punch. And it's always about the fine details. Also we need to point out Klopp can bring 2x 50m€+ players from the bench and CL champion captain. Inzaghi can bring Sanchez, Darmian and Ranocchia.

We would have never be able to give this kind of performance with Conte (with these players). Inzaghi is doing a very good job with this team.

Even if Lautaro scores a hattrick next game, the big hole of not scoring goals will still be present. :/

All in all - Inter did better than was expected. I believe we are still in it, only by small margins, but still. The worst thing about all this is that Barella didn't play, because he needs to play against World class players to get even better.

This... Italy is a long way behind the premiership, Spain and maybe even Germany atm. It I assume gets worse if you look at semis or quarters.
