While everyone is raging at Radu, I'm far more disappointed by de Vrij.

Never been his biggest fan but I'm absolutely done with him. Sorry, he seems like a nice guy but he needs to fuck off immediately. Even when he was playing his best I always considered him to be way too soft. Miranda was always a far better defender.

It's very obvious his confidence is non-existent right now.

These days he incessantly does this weird shit where he'll follow a striker and jump with them for a high ball, but at the same time, he won't really contest the header. It's very strange. It's as if he wants to show that he's trying, but doesn't have any conviction or confidence in himself.

He does this all the fucking time now. The result is that he'll repeatedly get dragged be out of position and leave a gap in the defensive line for the opponent to exploit by winning easy knockdowns.

agree. who gives a fuck that his feelings are hurt over contract renewals or whatever. he plays in a half-assed and soft way. that's unforgiveable.

If skriniar was the central defender tonight, he is dealing with Arnautovic not letting our smallest defender try to jump with a guy he has no chance of competing with in the air.

I am very unhappy with de vrij.

He had his good days. This season however he’s been shit. He also looks very overweight. That 40m offer from Tottenham is too good to be true.

If you google "too good to be true" the top result is that tweet.
Well I am hoping if we google "Dumb-fuck flops buyer" Spurs or Conte will be the top result, I mean he did buy Lukaku from ManU and Kulusevski & Bentancur from Jube.

Do you guys think Raiola’s death might actually change De Vrij’s mind and he will end up staying with us?

De Vrij wants to stay, Raiola wanted to negotiate a new contract (and did so, we even agreed terms). It's Inter who changed their mind and retracted the contract. And De Vrij has been shit ever since.

Not sure how this affects things on the business side. Raiola was a huge name but he has a company, it wasn't a one man show. But it may affect the chances of finding De Vrij a new team, so maybe Marotta changes his mind and decides to shop Skriniar or Bastoni instead...

I normally don't easily say a player is finished, but for him it is very hard for me to see him not getting worse even from here. What he used to be good at is ball playing and helping on distributing, and defensively his timing and anticipation was extremely well, as long as you don't expose him to a 1 on 1 situation with no cover, he is good, but now he still kinda arrives on time (sometimes he even makes weird decisions), but he seems incapable of intercepting anything, nor can he even pressure the one on the ball.

Almost feel like Frog is better than him now, at least in the defending area.

Point is I don't think he will get any better, even if he comes back fresh next season, unless he suddenly becomes stronger without sacrificing his speed and agility which aren't exactly impressive to start off with, also with age these 2 attributes can only get worse.

Reminds me a bit of Cambiasso in his later days, the brain is there, but the body is starting to drag him behind; not saying de Virj is there yet, but it is starting.

With that said, I can still be horribly wrong, as he can just be distracted by his personal shit.

Still I would rather sell him if possible, especially with Sunning fucking our club like this right now.

Probably just a shit year for him, just like Skrinia in Conte's first season with us.

Most top players have shit period even in their prime. I think he will be back to his old form next year. The problem is that whether we can afford to wait since our budget is shit and there are alternatives out there.

At the age of 30 while not doing so well atm, already have a monstrous replacement in Skriniar, I'd sell at the first really good offer and laugh on my way to the bank.

Perhaps, but the better scenario is we manage to cash him in with hefty sum (wink at MU and PSG) and replace him with better prospect like Bremer.
