I am sure this gave you a bit satisfaction. Happy with Favre back at Mönchengladbach?

For me, Favre always seemed a little out of his depth at Dortmund, although I must give credit in the '18-'19 season for that Dortmund taking things all the way down to the final match day. But he was very successful in his first spell at Gladbach and, more importantly, he's a steady hand and, given some of the turmoil at the club since Feb. 2021, that seems like the exact thing the club needs. A steady hand who knows the culture around the club and has had domestic success (in terms of making Europe) everywhere he's gone. I'm not expecting miracles by any means but I'm very happy to see him back, yes.

Odds are things will eventually spin out of control - they always have with Favre - but hopefully that's a couple years down the road.

Freiburg with empty hands in the end. Both in Bundesliga (without CL spot) and now in DFB-Pokal. What a shame.

First trophy for RBL but I guess nobody cares.

Used to live both in Freiburg and Leipzig when I was a kid.

Kinda got caught in the hype of EPL/Serie A final day and didn't see any german results =)

I keep wondering if Red Bull Leipzig will ever become bigger than just a selling club with amazing scouting

Dortmund is the same. And that's sad: It's enough to be in the German top 3, but no danger for Bayern.

yeah, every now or then some club has a really good season but then half of the team is bought by big clubs in Europe/Bayern

you would think with so much money they would try to make a 5 year dynasty

Speaking of German cup final, what a player Dortmund signed in Schlotterbeck. He was everywhere in defense while his passing was top notch. Also a great leader. He reminds me a lot of a young Hummels.

Fucking HSV. What a way to choke promotion. I thought we would finally get rid of Hertha, a team that is the embarrassment of the capital.

Dortmund mercato 90% done with only Raum and Kalajdzic pending, good enough for 2nd place finish and decent run in CL

@Il Drago Just a random question: How come Bayern Munich can't really produce good youth players on a consistent level? Like Ajax for example. They have the coaches and the facilities. They are the biggest club in Germany etc. And they don't want to buy players the way PSG for example is getting players. Also the Youth Academies in Germany are quite good. Is it because they get more chances at other clubs and they don't want to risk going to Bayern and sitting on the bench?

Last year in the Youth League for example the lost 2x from Kiev and Benfica and ended last in their group. In the league the ended 9th!! For a club of their stature that's a shame imo.

My apologies for not responding earlier. I was very busy when i saw the notification and then i kinda forgot about it and only remembered it now that i saw a report about Gnabry extension.

Bayern academy has produced some top talents throughout the years. Schweinsteiger, Kroos, Alaba, Muller, Hummels, Musiala but it's true they have failed to do it on a consistent basis. They tried to invest seriously on their youth academy when they hired Sammer and Guardiola but nothing really significant have come out of it. Now they have Nagelsmann who works a lot with youngsters but so far he has only given chances to Stanisic and now they signed Mazraoui his time will be super limited.

The thing with Bayern is they don't need their academy to produce top talents. Germany have some great youth academies (e.g. Schlake, Leverkusen, HSV, Gladbach). They can easily wait for those clubs to develop them and snatch them when they're ready for Bayern. They just aren't really bothered to build a system that produces youth talents on a consistent basis ala Ajax or La Masia. As long as 50+1 rule remains, no one could offer similar wages with Bayern to Bundesliga top youngsters so it's not really an issue for them.
