We will end up with Dumbro - Bastoni - Dimarco

Not totally against it if the bench are youth players and we find a gem in there.

Also fking chile won 2 copa americas with Medel as a Cb and a bunch of other 5’6 dudes

As long as Lautaro/Lukaku and Dybala score 3-5 a game who cares what defense we have

What is our plan with him now? Don’t think he would renew, if he doesn’t go this window, highly he walks freely next year.

SDV to United seems like basic journalism throwing a name out there just because they have the Dutch link. I love De Vrij but he would get toasted in the EPL. The playstyle is way too open and fast for him at his age.

You forgot to mention that most attackers in South America ain't really taller than 5'6, so it's not comparable

Who is responsible for this ridiculous mismanagement of De Vrij? Cancelling contract negotiations at the last minute to demolish Stefan's confidence is a terrible sense of timing. If he wasn't going to be kept in the squad then why not work to find a buyer earlier? They could have moved him out in the winter, why wait so long on a player if he's so bad for the system? All the waiting did was further lower his value. Now if any club is serious about him (and apparently nobody is), they know he is surplus and they can wait out until the end of August for a discount. Even worse would be to enter into next season after this boondoggle with a disgruntled De Vrij on the roster. Truly incompetent.

SDV wanted a pay rise, and I'm not sure that we shall go there. Big salary, and couple of seasons for 30 years old underperforming CB is a huge risk imo.

the club had been passed more dangerous risk. (sign useless old dinosaur with fat salaries, mkhitaryan included)

imo extend De Vrij ones still far from problem. an experienced defender at his prime time, sounds good, i think.

The De Vrij situation never made sense to me for the following factors:

  • He was Inter’s best defender for the 20/21 season;
  • Considering his age, he was unlikely going to be sold for +20 million after he remained with club post last summer;
  • His replacement is unlikely to offer same guarantees as him;
  • He can remain for another season and leave for free, which will be the worst case scenario;
  • If he remains and the club try to negotiate an extension he will have more leverage ;
  • Is the current 20 million valuation (more like 15) worth his departure for an unknown?
  • Considering no offers, why is the club not pursuing a renewal?

Stefan de Vrij is requested by his former coach Luciano Spalletti at Napoli. To report it the colleagues of Sport Mediaset. In addition to the Milan Skriniar question (see article), the revolution in defense may not stop at Inter. Napoli is now close to saying goodbye to Kalidou Koulibaly who should move, barring sensational surprises, to Chelsea in England. Spalletti knows de Vrij very well having coached him at Inter during his final season in 2018/19. There is a difficulty: Napoli do not go beyond ten million euros. The player will expire on June 30, 2023.

Take the money and run.

I do think he will leave for free next season. His drop in performences wasn’t accidantily in my eyes. It happened in the same time he was in court to sue his former agency. Who fucked him over in his free transfer to us. He did get a really small amount of the signing fee, that Inter paid to his agency. Stefan is a smart guy, i wouldn’t be surprised if he is looking for his last big payday.

If Napoli comes calling I think we have to sell tbh. As much as I'd like to keep him for one more year it just makes no sense to lose him for free next year with our financial difficulties.

10m€ is not enough, rather keep him and let him walk for free if 10m€ is the price we can get from the market.

The question is whether we think that the value of his contribution on the pitch can be replaced by 10M. With Skriniar's possible departure, I don't think it can.

Exactly.

And even if Skriniar stays, sign Bremer and keep De Vrij on the squad. One season of De Vrij is worth 10m€. We sell him for that price and we get some fucker for free and he will be terrible.
