I don't see how we would play 3412

also I doubt we are selling both Skriniar and Dumfries

Been a while since I did one of these, and the market hasn't even opened, but let's do it:

formation_27_06_2022_ 20_09_55.png

Bench: Handanovic, Cordaz, D'Ambrosio, Milenkovic, Vanheusden, Dimarco, Darmian, Bellanova, Gagliardini, Asllani, Mkhitaryan, Dybala, Dzeko, random Primavera forward.

I don't believe we'll succeed in preventing the Skriniar sale and therefore I think we'll opt to keep Dumfries. We're also too incompetent to sell De Vrij, so he'll stay and probably go on a free next year.

If this were to be the team, I imagine we would start with De Vrij at CB and Bremer RCB while Bremer and Milenkovic get settled in to the team's transitions. De Vrij would be phased out over the course of the season, with Bremer taking over in the middle and Milenkovic at RCB.

I think, despite the wingbacks looking very strong on paper, we'll struggle in those areas. Both are absolute trains and physical monsters, but both lack technical quality (see Perisic, Cancelo) and so unless they get the ball in space or run onto a through ball there'll be a lot of passing backwards/sideways. The work of Lukaku to open up space for Dumfries would be absolutely crucial in that case, as would Dybala finding Gosens during overloads/counters.

We'll actually have people who can play football on the bench in the midfield, so improvement all around there. I would love someone like Loftus-Cheek instead of Gagliardini but I think that's unlikely.

Up front is an upgrade of colossal proportions. Lautaro/Dzeko/Sanchez/Correa --> Lautaro/Lukaku/Dybala/Dzeko is ridiculous, with players who actually complement each other and can sub in for each other without ending up with poorly matched up pairs.

This would 100% be a Scudetto team, and I would be disappointed if we didn't complete a domestic double. QFs of the CL, depending on the draw. Would really rely on people like Bastoni, Barella, Brozovic, Lautaro, and Lukaku to step up in terms of leadership however, particularly with no Skriniar and no Handanovic (at least on the pitch).

Interesting points about the wingbacks, its something I’ve been thinking about as well. I think that we will miss Perisic particularly as a ball carrier. In build up he was always so key to what we did. I feel like against better sides we almost exclusively worked the ball down the left side. We know Dumfries is basically just a steady player in the attacking game, a lot of back passes and few mistakes but no creativity in passing. He is better off as a finisher at the far post, which is also the strength of Gosens.

Thats why I feel like Bellanova might surprise us a bit. I think his attacking instincts will be better than Dumfries. We will still lack a Perisic or Cancelo type but a Gosens-Bellanova wingback pairing might work a bit better. Right now the way the team is taking shape I think we are going to be relying on our midfield and forwards A LOT more for creation. If we lose De Vrij, Perisic and Dzeko from our preferred line up this year we are actually losing a lot of technical quality, even if they’re shit athletes (with the exception of Perisic).

The team seems to be pretty good but there is one other position, where we might need someone better (as mentioned), i.e. Barella's back up. We really need a replacement for Gags. Vidal & Vecino have been replaced by Asllani and Mkhitaryan but I believe they will be squad player for Brozovic and Calhan's positions.

We need to upgrade Gags' position (to be Barella's back up), if there is any opportunity and the midfield department should be fine. Someone who can bring in a physical presence in the midfield - to defend our lead (which Inzaghi often does) or would allow us to play with 3 strikers upfront as well.

I am also hoping that Bellanova would surprise us. I really like Gosens but I am pretty sure that Perisic is going to be missed.

If Dybala will be AMC (when both Lukaku and Lautaro are healthy and fresh), should we keep then both Dzeko and Correa?

Wages would be too huge for the potential of the whole squad.

At the moment, this is our lineup for next season, assuming we can offload our youngsters and undesirables.

Note that we only have two homegrown players (Dimarco and Cordaz), which limits our squad number to 23, at least for the CL. Any additional player coming in must necessarily be an Inter youth product, which is why I find it strange that we aren't linked with any.

No, he only played for our primavera for one season before being loaned out to Spezia. Vanheusden, Salcedo and Mulattieri are also ineligible.
Are you sure? Because as far as I know homegrown player is a player who has at least 3 years in a particular club, between his 15-21 years. It doesn't matter it's primavera or first team. I'm not sure how the loan is counted, though.

Depends on the competition.
For uefa need to be at the club for 3 straight years between 15 and 21.
For serie a just needs to be owned by the club for 3 years between 15 and 21, can be loaned out and still count.
