Cancelo and Rafinha were Sabatini's purchases. I think, he even said that he proposed to get Icardi sold, and with the money to buy Cancelo and Rafinha, but the Chinese refused.
Can we ever truthfully know they were his purchases when this was said after he left? Scouts generally don't give interviews and claim deals so we will never know how much baccin was involved or not.

He was sporting director back then, and he made the final decision, to get them or not (approved by the Zangs of course). Does he personally proposed them, or somebody from the staff or scouts recommended them to him, it's a different story.

Maybe you are right! But the results speaks for themselves!

Skriniar, Bastoni, Brozo, Lautaro - you can say they are the results of good scouting. Barella not so much. 3 years of Serie A experience, italian NT starter, one of the best midfielder in Serie A. Barely a result of good scouting. Hakimi the same.
That`s it. Maybe you can throw here Zaniolo (as an exemple of good scouting). Dumfries also.

J. Mario, Barbosa, Dalbert, Vecino, Gags, Lazaro, even Politano. I don`t put Sensi here because the talent was there, but not the body. Correa is still open. He could turn useful.
As you see the results are pretty meh. Overall less than 50% which is pretty bad. Try now Milan! Way better!

But as you say: we need more "deals like Asllani". This is the only path forward, if we want to see anothe La grande Inter.
Another aspect. We need to develop these players. A talent who is not developed won`t be a good player. I know someone (Cafecordoba) said here then it is not the obligation of the coach to develop players, only the results. No,no, no, from now on, one of the coach obligation need to be player development.
Assllani is yet to be proven, I really hope he'll get there but we watch more than enough players over the past decade rocking trough preseason and then fail, so lets see, hope he does good...

Nothing going on in this department? The midfield depth is quite pathetic.

Are you not reading the news? Club has financial issues, they did not even afford to hire a photographer for the yearly squad photos: https://www.inter.it/en/teams

I`m sure Marotta is already planning for bosman moves in January, as in 2023 there will be plenty of midfielders running out of contract like Aouar, Malinovskiy, Rafinha, etc.

So is there anyone free? Or any Lazio reject Inzaghi likes. Now that Micky is out i am sure we would all love to have another 35 year old.
Fuck these young kids, Agoume and Casadei.

Matic is already Roma's player, but Parolo fits perfectly - ex Lazio, old and washed and Inzaghi will approve.

Joa Mario and Gabi goal had nothing to do with any inter manager. They were signings recommended to suning by Kia joorabchian which suning authorized. Kia's involvement that summer is a mayor reason why mancini left and why de boer was hired.

Vecino was a specific spaletti request.

Cancelo and rafinha , not baccin fault inter couldn't make them permanent.

As for milan & Maldini plenty of failures under him but you and his fan boys like to ignore it.

Lucas Paqueta, mattia caldara, piatek, kalinic, castilejo, laxalt, higuain, borini, duarte, saelemakers, hauge, diaz. Then we can also add losing 3 high value players in Donnarumma, hakan and kessie for free.

Unless Inter becomes a side who doesn't compete for trophies we won't turn into a development team...
Eh?

Paqueta, Caldara, Piatek, Castilejo, Laxalt, Higuain were all Leanardo's buys.

Borini and Kalinic were Mirabellis

The only ones from that list Maldini got was Duarte, Saelemakers, Hauge and Diaz.

Duarte flopped, will give you that.
Hauge was bought for $4m, played half a season. Flipped for $12m.
Diaz is on loan
Saelemakers cost $8m and we could probably flip him for more.

If you wanted to include flops, could have included Ballo Toure, Bakayoko (on loan), and Pellegri (on loan).

As for losing players, no one would have paid for Donnarumma considering the wages he was demanding. We ended up getting a better keeper anyways who will cost us far less in the long run rather than resigning Donnarumma.

Hakan wasnt worth the money he was asking for. Dude shows up for like half a season and that's being generous.

Kessie is admittedly a big loss tho.

But Maldini has shown time and time again that he is a shrewd operator so I have faith that he will be able to get a suitable replacement for him.

Not to mention some of the ones he has bought (Maignan, Kalulu, Tomori, Theo, Tonali, Bennacer) have grown exponentially in value.

Those 6 cost a combined total of $90m and are now worth $251m (Transfermarkt)

Maldini was the sporting, strategy and development director since Elliot bought the club before being promoted to technicaldirector. He worked alongside leonardo . I ain't going to guess who made more decisions but trying to claim he wasn't involved is silly.

Who cares....

I am still pissed we had Tonali and instead did fuck all with it, to watch him go to the red side of milan. Good luck to them.

Only positive I can see now is Agoume gets a chance in that 6th spot.
