The latest chapter to the wonderful history of our brilliant transfer policy is the Cannavaro-Carini swap.

Let's collect the most idiotic transfers of all time made by Inter (in or out) to this thread. Later on we can make a poll of the candidates.

And I'll start with the mentioned Cannavaro-Carini swap.

It's hard to beat that. But here's some list:

Pirlo to Milan --> Athough Milan paid a decent sum for him
Baggio to Brescia --> Cancelled?
Simic - Davala
Miha

Uhm, there's really too many to compile.

Basically, you can take half of the transfers in the last decade and you will find the most idiotic tranfers amongst them.

We have really bought a lot of useless players over time. And screwed up some of our own as well.

Ciao,
Tim

From this season:
Canna sold for nothing,
Adani let for free,
Mihajlovic at Inter,
Choutos at Inter

past years:
Carlos to Real
Pirlo for cash and Brncic :yuck:
Frey to Parma
Cannavaro to Inter (it was huge mistake from the beggining)
Ferrari to Parma

Not selling Christian Vieri this year is one of the bigest mistakes in the history of this club too.His RIDICILOUS wage is one of the reasons that we had to let Canna in the last moment I think, to save our budget.

*uck Cannavaro I say. Anyone remember when he openly came out and said that if Juventus came knocking, he would undoubtedly accept their offer? In that interview he spoke of Juventus' great reputation and how you can not turn down a club like the old *lut of Italian football. Why do we need a player who really wants to be somewhere else? He can take his injury and get stuffed. Materazzi and Cordoba were brilliant prior to his arrival and in season 2001-2002 Inter had one of the best defences in the league. Do you know why he will not take three months out of the game to fully recover? Because he knows he is on the wane and that there are players who will take his place in the starting eleven at both club and national team level. Some of you should stop mourning as if it is the end of the world.

To be honest, I think Moratti has learnt some valuable lessons over the last few years: acquiring class players for next to nothing and getting rid of uncommitted underperforming stars with large wage demands amounts to very prudent transfer dealings. Juventus can have Cannavaro, his long term injury and his inconsistency. We never needed him and still do not need him.

As for my candidates if we are talking about failures and strange transfers then Dennis Bergkamp and Vampeta (who stayed for a few months) need to be added.

Year ago we had a huge winger-problem. So, what we did. Well, we got two great players who really made the massive impact:

Luciano & Fadiga

Recent years we have had a lot of problems on the left side, specially in defence. Not least because of the great buys:

Georgatos, Gresko & Serena

Maybe the best buy ever: Nelson Vivas

Serginho must be in his nightmares forever. Actually had enough about a year ago and doesn´t play football anymore. Played a lot in Argentina NT.. don´t know why..

Georgatos was a great player, unfortunately he couldn't live away from his beloved Greece.

It was simply disgraceful how the S Siro fans didn't give Luciano a chance. I went to see Inter v Sampdoria, day 3 of last season, and as soon as he came in everybody started whistling and swearing at him and Cuper for letting him play.

So after the game I asked some people, "Why? He's just arrived, why don't you support the guy?". The answer was that he didn't perform well during the summer's friendly games.
:wallbang:
For crying out loud, our board can be a bunch of idiots, but the supporters can do just as well at acting completely moronic!

Agree. But the fickle nature of Interisti is also due to Moratti and co. Still I think that sometimes Interisti can be as stupid as Moratti.

Oh man! that's crazy!!
I actually met him among all the other players and had a decent conversation with him in their London hotel prior to the Arsenal game (his english was good).
I always liked his style, and I believe if he had been given the chance then he would have done well in our jersey!
